Three pigs for Sam Younger and each of the rest of the Electoral Commission for their complete lack of functionality - Scottish election, Wendygate, etc. Their real role seems to be to direct crimes away from the police and CPS.

I'm surprised there there is no mention of the Wintertons who seem to have acquired half the country using taxpayers' contributions.

They used the MPs' catchphrase 'within the rules' then the Standards and Privileges committee, when it established that they were not 'within the rules', decided to give them another six months to stop. And now they are planning to do it again, after having made adjustments to bring themselves 'within the rules' once more.

So three pigs each for the Wintertons and three also for Sir George Young and each of the other committee members for their complicity in condoning theft.

good point 11.09. oxfam's profits in relation to its turnover are impossibly small considering they receive free stock.
help the aged also receives free stock. it has a turnover of 30million pounds a year, pays very low wages to its shop managers and has reduced business rates.
yet it barely makes 3 million a year in profit which it pays to the charity.
sounds like they are helping themselves rather than helping the aged!

Talking of sleaze in British politics, what about large British charities, such as Oxfam with its close links to the Labour hierarchy, allowing a Labour Councillor (Antonia Bance, who is Oxfam's deputy director for its UK Poverty Programme) to do her Council business during Oxfam hours. You could argue that a charity is subsidizing party political work and thereby violating UK Charity Law, wouldn't you? I doubt that Oxfam would do this for a Conservative coucincillor.

The father of the youngest soldier injured in Iraq has criticised the Government for "cutting corners" in their new compensation scheme.
Private Jamie Cooper lost the use of one of his legs and a hand and his stomach was "blown out" after two mortar bombs hit his base in Basra in November 2006. His furious father Phil Cooper said the Government would have preferred his son to return to the UK in "a body bag" because it would have been cheaper. The 19-year-old also went on to contract MRSA and caught C difficile when he was in hospital recovering from his injuries. Despite a move by the Government to increase compensation to Armed Forces severely injured in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Cooper has been told he will receive no extra money in addition to his compensation. The Bristol teenager was awarded a lump sum of £57,587 and an annual payment of £9,000 - 60 per cent of his final salary - for the remainder of his life. His father Phil said: "What faceless person decides that when your stomach is blown out, you lose the use of your leg and your hand is shattered, then that is worth only £57,000 for the rest of your life?

Saturday's Mail carried the sad story of Mr Graham Woodward who was given a 9 month suspended jail term and reduced to penury for defrauding the BenefitAgency of 24995 pounds.Nobody would dream of comparing his reprehensible actions with those of our MPs,civil servants,quango fodder etc.There is a world of difference.
Mr Woodward has no power.He is not intent on destroying our way of life and our freedom and turning England into a 3rd world shithole.
He is just an ordinary chancer caught out.

Purnell confirmed that from April 2003 he claimed the second-home allowance on his London flat. He said he could not recall which property he claimed on between 2001, when he became an MP, and 2003. He said that the parliamentary authorities had destroyed the records because they were so old.

you dont understand about Ashcroft. His management of the 'target seat' programme is of far more value them the money he donates.
The 'Ashcroft Money'that has Labour wetting their pants, isnt really from Ashcroft. Ashcroft donates money *and* manages the targeting of funds.

For a candidate in a target seat to get money from Ashcroft target seat fund, he needs to put together a business plan.

The business plan needs to show how the candidate expects to win the election, how he will lever in extra funding. This plan is then subjected to interrogation. Think dragons den/ applying for a business loan from your bank.

This process sorts out the men from the boys, it tightens up the priorities of the candidate, and concentrates their minds on what they need to do to win.

Because the value of the 'ashcroft money' is far greater then the actual sum of money they recieve (ashcroft money to local associations is lower then TU money going into local labour associations), and thus is even more dangerous to Labour then they could ever imagine.
