This raises an interesting question - how much did he pay? Either Hain paid about 12,000 - on his earlier claims of having raised 80,000, or he paid about 27,000 - on the 180,000 he actually raised.

Either amount suggests interesting lines of investigation to pursue. If he paid 27,000, then it shoots down in flames Hain's claims to forgetting the donations, if he paid 12,000, then someone needs to push the Labour Treasurer into demanding a cheque for 15,000 from Hain.
