Broon has good reason to fear a pissed off and unshackled Ken, never mind the Tories, as Ken could become a rallying point for all the anti Broon lefties who are now hurting.

Consider. Ken's core vote actually held up in London. He lost because the new pro Boris vote came out in droves. And Ken will argue - indeed he has to argue - that his defeat was due not to his sleazy record and piss poor performance, but because of the wider backlash against Broon and New Labour.

Ken's a celebrity so he will be better off financially than if he won the Mayoral race. The articles, book deals,TV appearances and lucrative after dinner speaker invite are going to come flooding in for the 'cheeky chappy' if he can stay out of jail. All of which means that Ken won't be dependent on the largesse of the Labour party machine for his bread and rations and can agitate against Broon with a free hand.

I forsee big, big, trouble for New Labour and Broon from Ken's direction.City of Vicenoreply@blogger.com
