At 15% royalties it comes to around 15,000, not a fortune but a nice earner if you're notoriously thrifty. If the advance was large, or the royalties above average, then Bloomsbury are also effectively making an undeclared donation. they've already lost a fortune on Blunkett - one wonders what they are getting out of these loss-making books from New Labour?

Just who makes these up? "Higher taxes on short haul flights and "gas guzzling" cars are recommended by the Tories' policy review group".
If increased taxes, which results in higher petrol costs, really worked, then why have we not seen any decrease in car use in the last 3 years when fuel prices have increased by 3 billion % (ok slight exageration but it feels like it).
