I know they've been promising us a cure for cancer for 50-odd years and nothing's ever happened. The Socialist Group then decides that it doesn't go far enough and demands a much more interventionist / protectionist approach. The EPP then comes up with a position that is equi-distant between their proposals and the Socialist position.

If the Socialists are leading the roles are reversed but the end result is the same - a messy fudge that noone actually believes in but is half-way between what both sides want. All in the name of pragmatic negotiation.

Why should people bother voting if they know that it will make very little difference to the legislation that ends up being passed because it will still need to be agreed by the two main parties?Mike Woodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05016813232626327117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8212152.post-31014713721135035332008-03-26T00:44:00.000Z2008-03-26T00:44:00.000Zill look forward to that one bill quango.it all lo...ill look forward to that one bill quango.

it all looks a bit sad in nu labour land.

home owner who recieved harpic and gordo for chat , has had to call in an excorcist , felt immediately depressed as soon as she shook his hand.
