There is a lot wrong with many sectors of public service , however there are a lot of good people working in them busting arse and balls to make things work for the better of all.

Having served in the armed services and in the public sector and taken my hairy arse on the long road to be a detective in this great city of london , and oh look Im a jonnhy foreginer to boot !

As I understand it she was in fact a "home" economics teacher (is that the justification for being made "home" secretary I thinks as an aside?)

In my day that would have been described as a "domestic science" or "cookery" teacher. Now I'm the first to admit that teaching the kids how to wash up or boil water or even scale the dizzy heights of rice pudding making, has some value.

It does not however carry the kudos of fully understanding the laffer curve or macro economic structured currency flows or even how to rip off the tax payers to prop up a failed bank as the next instalment in buying votes in the Govmint's heartland.

There's been a bit of left-hand spin applied methinks. Who's to blame? Jaqui or a sloppy and gullible ST journo who allowed herself to be taken in and passed it on to the readers?

Durham Police is not a "large organisation" - it has about 1600 - 1700 police officers on its payroll which, minus the top brass and divided between 3 shifts, amounts to about 500 on duty at any one time. It does not have layers of bureaucrats and indeed the former head of its driving school was used to being at the wheel of his BMW M5, sussing out high speed driving routes north of the border. By the way he was doing 118 mph, not 115 as I reported, and was banned from driving for 3 months.

Unlike you, I actually contribute to the nation's wealth and I have to provide for my own pension, not rely on the dwindling band of wealth-creators to pay for it. My point is that the money required to purchase an annuity at current discount rates to pay a full pension over 30+ years will be greater than any funding of the man's pension over the period of his employment and therefore the net result is that the funding shortfall has to be made up by the taxpayer. This goes on all the time in the public sector and is a reason why 20% of the Durham Police's annual budget (over 40% of the payroll) consists of paying unfunded pension payments to retired police officers. This proportion is increasing each year.

The second point is that any situation where a person can retire on full pension at 49 shows the unreality and unaffordability of the public sector pension arrangements. If we all did that the economy would collapse.

The final point is that the person in question was the head of driving instruction for Durham Police. Driving at 115mph usually counst for disqualification from driving. If he cannot drive he caanot do his job, therefore it is reasonable to expect that he would have been sacked if he had not been "retired".

No I'm not jealous, I'm just fed up with having to subsidise you public sector leeches.

Jacqui's fear of walking home may have something to do with me.

Not long ago, I noticed her drinking alone in the Commons Bar and I went over to say Hi.

"So," I said smoothly, "what's a beautiful lady like you doing alone in a place like this?"

One thing led to another and we ended up going back to mine and making love.

Unfortunately I had an early meeting next day so I booted the Home Secretary's ass onto the street at 5am while I hotfooted it off to the Square Mile for a power breakfast.

Her phone battery was flat so she had to slum it on public transport and spent the day in the office looking noticeably dishevelled in the same outfit as she wore yesterday.

So this I think is why she is afraid to walk the streets without plod. I left her, I am proud to say, looking well and truly shagged, which in a Battersea street at 4am on a weekday is quite frankly an invitation to passers-by to all sorts of mischief.

If anyone's interested I have a similar story about Caroline Flunt.
