Milburn is seen as the eminence grise behind the current plot which has clearly caused a lot of whispered conversations on the Newcastle/Kings Cross train yesterday. Beware the ides of May!
There will be no battle for the post-Brown leadership commencing on May 2. Brown will be tipped the black spot within the week commencing that date and will go within a further week. He will be offered the opportunuity to go with some dignity but is expected to twist. Despite the half-hearted posturing of some members of the cabinet the plotters have read Montgomery on the conduct of miitary operations and will apply overwhelming force at a point of weakness. Brown will then go - into obscurity.

In the meantime observe the movements of Milburn, Clarke, Byers, Hoon, Brown and Prescott.
