Yes, it's a clear, direct, material chunk of flesh being taken...but contrast the belated debate with the ongoing murmur (barely more even now) that the country has for so long been thrown open to any bastard brazen enough to jabber in whatever one of 80 million fucking languages they speak on any single bendy-bus that their presence here is more than nine tenths of the law on their entitlement to dispossess the bottom rung just for starters.
