Sounds like the Labour rebels are by and large going to back down, based on Gordon's promises of "jam tomorrow".

What a bunch of spineless subservient yes-men the Labour party has become. Just about the only person worthy of leading that once great party is Frank Field. There are a scattering of other well-meaning individuals here and there in the PLP but it's mostly "So what" jobsworths who couldn't give a stuff about double-figure inflation rates and the excessive tax burden for which they are to blame. As long as the worthless "official" inflation rate is 2.5% everything must be fine and dandy.

People cannot afford Labour's taxes. Tax, inflation, excessive fuel prices and the rest are crippling us. Darling even had the nerve to increase taxes on booze in the budget - that hits the ordinary man in the street far more than the rich. What are they playing at? We have no money left, just leave us alone. 100,000 of us are going bust every year FFS.

They don't care. They are going to give us all a kicking, and leave us all penniless and bleeding in the gutter. The same gutter from which many of them obviously emerged.

They have to go. It doesn't matter who we vote for, as long as it's the party most likely to displace Labour. Let's turn around and kick back. Let us kick 'em all the way to the next general election and beyond.
