I would say that this is a considerably firmer statement than what appears on the BBC website, buried on the politics page.

Surely even Guido must have winced before writing that "the Beeb was too frit to broadcast" the cash for honours story when we got it first, were legally prevented stopped from broadcasting it and continued the legal battle until we were able yesterday to reveal even more of what was said in that now famous document. Channel 4 News last night reported that Miss Turner was under such stress that her memo began with the words: "Oh f***!"

The BBC seems to have got itself confused over their stock phrase "all involved deny any wrongdoing".

Last week it was also saying "no charges have been brought, no charges may ever be brought" but that's been dropped. Does that mean charges are more likely now? Why don't they stop trying to spin anti-clockwise and drop the whole phrase? It was only invented for this case anyway.

It seems you are wrong on both counts. The Daily Mail today is reporting just such a story in some detail so it seems that Guido scooped the whole of the MSM (although sadly he didn't go into as much detail as the Mail's delicicious story)

I'm still not sure why this document had to be kept secret. The BBC are reporting:

"They (the police) were worried that the individuals could have constructed or co-ordinated a response. "

But Turner wrote the document so knows what's in it. If they wanted to co-ordinate a response they already know enough to do so. Why does the document being public make that easier?
