Odd gs that you are another who refuses to even acknowledge the sheer dreadfulness of the fact that firefighters who REFUSED to go on a 'gay pride' event in Glasgow are now facing disciplinary action... Read the 'Pink News' which gleefully reports it... But not at all odd that because I would like to see a word that used to mean happy and joyful and lighthearted and carefree being put back to its original use that I am a 'homophobe' in your eyes which is the immediate response from anybody wanting to not allow facts or sense or reason get in the way of what little thought process they possess... :)

Let me get this straight, a lobby group has been set up to defend a minoritys beliefs and rights (what is the actual statistic - I heard 10% of people are homosexual but I could well be wrong).

One MP doesn't feel strongly enough (either way) to vote for issues relating to this minority and suddenly he's a 'gay basher'.

What other lobby groups defend similar minoritys (in statistical terms - so if 10% was right above then other minoritys that relate to 10% of our population) in this country and what are some politicians attitudes towards them? I'm sure there may be some interesting results...

The Pink paper was raising a genuine concern to its readers. What is Gordon Browns position on Gay Issues? As it is pretty likely he is going to be Prime Minister within the year. The only thing they can judge him on is what he has said and voted on.

I'm sure you'd agree that it would be bad if the Prime Minister was anti-gay? So since it is generally bad political manners to say 'bloody shirtlifters, it turns my stomach'. You might be able to judge someones true stance from what they actually vote on.

There are several inferences to draw from his voting pattern.

1. He is a closet homophobe.
2. He does not give tuppeny shit
about the gays.
3. He is in the closet and is terrifed that a pro gay stance will uncover his terrible secret.

Any of those options might be of concern to the readers of the Pink Paper.
