Civil Service Swerves Jacqui's 42 Days Speech
Under Investigation Smith Institute Serves Speech
Guido drew attention yesterday to the Smith Institute giving a platform for Jacqui Smith to sell the 42 days policy. The Smith Institute is, as a tax-exempt charity, restricted from getting involved in politics or in matters not compatible with its charitable objectives. It is currently under investigation for a second time for breaches of the Charities Act.So what was it doing last night? Any claim that the speech given by Jacqui Smith was non-political and made in her capacity as a government minister should be dismissed. Guido understands that senior civil servants ruled that it was a political speech - hence it was not reported or distributed via the official Government News Network or spun by civil service press officers. Quite correct and proper, she was after all making the case for a politically controversial policy.
So the speech was distributed only by the Labour Party's press office. Which raises the question - what was the legally non-partisan Smith Institute doing getting involved in this controversial area a few days ahead of a close run vote, which theoretically could turn into a confidence vote for Gordon Brown? Another example of blatantly partisan politicking from the Smith Institute.

as happened with internment in northern ireland, introducing a 42 day policy of internment on the mainland will cause a rapid increase in the number of terrorists operating in britain.
internment is an entirely counter-productive policy that has already been tested to destruction.
any MP who votes for this policy will have blood on their hands.
the policy also turns the commons into a dip-lock court.
MPs will be held responsible for endangering the public.
note to MPs: you cunts have been warned.
Who on earth would support a charity that has such cretinous speakers as jacqui five bellies. a consumate nulabour liar of the first order.
42 days is all about saving gordon and nothing to do with the security of the country. I will laugh my arse off when her 500 majority turns into a 7,000 Tory lead at the next election.
goodbye gorgon and sod off smith
SLAG. Any old platform will do.
I think one worrying thing is that if Gordo & Jacky get their 42 days they will then move on to ask for even longer (project creep for which NuLab are famous). Even more worrying is the fact that we know before it even happens that this law will be abused just like the anti-terrorism RIBA (or is it RIPA?) law is being used against parents making a choice of primary school for their 3 year old.
As for the fragrant Jacky misusing the Smith charity, perhaps another official complaint to the Charities Commission?
I find it interesting that the collapsing authority of the present Government has meant that Civil Servants again have the 'balls' (no pun intended) to say no.
Brown really is keen on 42 days even though no one has asked for it apart from Brown.
Very keen indeed.
It is VERY worrying when a Scottish psychopath wants and may just get that kind of power.
Only a nation of violent, drunken, heroin addled wife beaters with enormous chips on both shoulders could produce such a beast.

'Who would support such a charity...'
Anon you are a virgin in matters of Sith.
Sith is a bung machine for corporations wanting to buy access to Brown and Balls. Lets say Diageo, the company behind fuelling underage drinking(Bacardi Breezers etc), wants to suck up to Brown but doesn't favour the cash in brown(sic) envelope route.
Why you send a cheque for £50k to a charity, Sith, deuctible from tax, and hey presto doors open. Nice and clean and no questions asked.
Brown laundered Sith money to give Balls(his bitch) a £100k bung to cover his col between leaving Treasury and being elected MP.
Got it.
BTW Sith replaced the serial shagger and offshore trust supremo, G Robinson, as Brown's paymaster(sic).
I am at a loss to understand why the Charity Commission are taking so long to "investigate" the Sith. Is there any way that I can formally complain to some body with the authority to investiage the Chairty Commission?
It seems that the "regulators" have been so infected by the cancer that is NuLab that they simply leave matters in their in-trays while they twat around.
What recourse do we 'ordinary' folk have in this Brave New World?
United States
Under US federal law, the maximum period of pre-charge detention for criminal suspects, including those suspected of terrorist offences, is 48 hours.
Canada
A person arrested without warrant must be charged within 24 hours.
Ireland
In general the maximum period of pre-charge detention is one day.
New Zealand
Persons arrested must be charged "promptly". There is no fixed definition of "prompt" but case law indicates that pre-charge of more than 48 hours would not pass the test.
Australia
Maximum period of pre-charge detention for the purpose of investigating a terrorism offence is 24 hours
France
The maximum period of pre-charge detention in terrorism cases is six days.
Italy
The maximum period of pre-charge detention is four days.
Denmark
The maximum period of pre-charge detention is three days.
Russia
The maximum pre-charge period is five days.
South Africa
The maximum period in terrorism cases is two days.
And we need 42 days why?
Bloody hell Guido I thought it was an article about 'Red Rum' by that picture at the top of the blog till I realised it was Mrs Spliffy.
It is very hard to tell the two apart.

Is the Smith institute suffering in the present climate?
Do people still want access to Crash Gordon?
Money talks - is it whispering anything to Guido?

How true !!!
Has she been to the same dentist as Gordon?
The problem my dears, is that they just don’t know the difference between truth and fantasy. And it’s all compounded by socialist arrogance.
Of course she can speak there, it's the Smith Insititute :-)
But according to the FT, she doesn't believe in the 42 days nonsense either and has had a row with Brown about it.
PS Guido: "begging the question" means assuming what you are trying to prove. You mean "raises the question".
This is, after all, the Jacqui Smith Insitute isn't it?
Can't someone call the police?

"Canada

Only if they are Canadian citizens. If they are foreigners they can be held FOR YEARS without charge.
As happened with internment in northern Ireland, introducing a 42 day policy of internment on the mainland will cause a rapid increase in the number of terrorists operating in Britain.
So the question is; Why would ministers want to make the terrorist situation worse then we have already been dishonestly lead to believe it is?
I could say it is because the ruling elites that started all this nonsense have instructed Brown to make the situation as bad as possible. Even if he has to conspire to directly instigate terrorist attacks himself. But I will not.
Because if I did people might dismiss what I write saying that, I am a paranoid nut case or a Alex Jones incarnation.
So I will say this.
Watch these people very carefully, very very carefully indeed. The more you watch, the more you will start to see the light.
The following is just my own personal opinion, make of it what you will.
The banksters not only hold the future of Brown in their hands, they also now hold the future of Cameron and the rest of the financial future of the whole country including that of The USA.
At the stroke of their diamond encrusted platinum pen, this silly place economically sinks beneath the waves. Brown knows it, Cameron knows it, and if they and their parties do not promote Global Climate Change agendas like their children's lives depended on it. Or do not do all they can to encourage terrorism by any means possible we and they, ARE TOAST.
You may have not heard it here first, but you can now not say you have not heard it somewhere.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, although what you or me can do about it, is quite another thing entirely. My advice is to start praying, and watch the fireworks. None of our political elites are interested in facts or cast iron arguments. They are only interested in 'gravy trains' and 'ice picks'.

Come come Old Holborn, I believe you have a poisoned attitude to the Scottish from your previous(?) employers. I know I did.
Apart from that, couldn't agree more. Oh, wait, I did
And complaints about the Charity Commission should probably be directed to this lot

Try telling that to the Meredith Kercher murder suspects who have been detained for 7 MONTHS without charge.
there is still the outstanding issue of the rover report (costing 80k a month since they started it)
remeber ms smiths pivotal role in easying tensions between the blairites and the brownies .
just how was an admittantly ineffiecient company , allowed to sell its modern manufacturing plant (paid for by the tax payer) to the chinese car manufacturer for £1 .
surely by selling off such a plant , you would be selling off a solely british car manufacturer and leaving us with the EU ones , subsidiarity !! by stealth i think .
also douglas alexander may well spout off the un food conference , it was his polices as international developement sec that promoted the vast planting of bio fuels in developing countries and so shorted food stocks .
mugabe is socialist shame (the opposition leader has been arrested , the world will talk on ), but as we see , this form of governance is unable to right itself , it bumbles on in its own , synthetic manufactured glory .
to trolls
you can fool some of the people some of the time but never all of the people all of the time !!
many people are now aware of what has taken place , your failiure to hold account properly , will ring throughout history as a shame , a corruption and a deciept of the british people
Now Jacqui may be a bit of a boiler, but I reckon 20 years ago, not one man here (apart from Iain Dale) would have turned down the chance of a soapy tit wank off her.
In fact call me old fashioned, but after 42 days in Paddington green police station with nothing more than a Quaran and my right hand to keep me company I'd still give her a facial to rival anything available at Selfridges.
BEAST
Starcourse amended.
Governments wishing to divert attention from their own failings will invent an enemy, or exaggerate the importance of an existing enemy.
Hence 42 days.
As Mitch has shown, no other country can imprison us for anything like 42 days, except the USA if they are able to send you to Guantanamo.
So this has nothing to do with security, except indirectly in that it might radicalise yet more people in a ghastly modern version of Catch 22.
So we need to be rid of this government.
Which leads to the question are the Tories any better?
With their opposition to ID cards the answer is 'fractionally', which is just not good enough.
So we need to be rid of the lot of them.
Anarchism, anyone?
news on radio talking about rumours in parliament that Gordo might resign in days
Another new day almost upon us - I wonder what it will bring? What more stupidity will The Dear Leader, Pennywise the Clown introduce into our lives? Can't believe he'll resign?
If he resigns the people will demand a general election.
Brown will resign on "health grounds" which, strictly speaking, is true as he is suffering increasingly from psychological problems that are requiring ever larger doses of anti-psychotics and tranx.

Not a lawyer myself but I reckon an Order of Mandamus would sort 'em out PDQ.
10 years gives a party plenty of time to corrupt EVERYTHING.
voting, honours, hell you can even sell the country to another country.
forget selling bridges, Labour communists sold our country after dragging it down onto its knees!
It's what the communists and the corrupt do, destroy a country and its people then sell it.
If he resigns the people will demand a general election.
The public my friend can individually or collectively demand what they like, it will make absolutely no difference to anything. We will get what we are given and decide what we are brainwashed by 'events' and the MSM to decide, as usual.
In this democracy of ours it takes only a swing of 10% of actual votes to change from one form of elected dictatorship to another form of elected dictatorship. The people pulling the strings and therefore our plonkers are the ones to watch.
That is if you even know who they are, where they even live, and what they really do ultimately intend to do with us all. Which of course you dont, and there is absolutely no chance whatsoever the BBC or the rest of the MSM will under any circumstances give you so much as a tiny clue.
Party politics especially but by no means exclusively since the fall of the Soviet Union, is only about small but sometimes important details and only slightly different sets of vested interests.
The political class has not triumphed, it never was in a position to lose. The only 'terrorists' our ruling class fear is the ordinary British, European and American people, when we finally work out what they have done. By then is will be many years to late to do anything about it, as it is already.
So as far as 42 days is concerned it is best not to ask for who the bell is ringing, because it is ringing very much for you, your children, and with any luck your grandchildren.

I was at uni with Broon and tonight discussed him with another mate who was there.
We both agreed he was a cunt then and has not changed.

SOLVE EQUATION AND FIND VALUE FOR LIFE OF PM
There is no doubt in the mind of every British citizen that Mr Brown is the target of at least 60 million current terror plots - there's a clutch of them hatching out of mine right now. What is required here, is an elegant solution to a very embarrassing domestic problem - one which is making this country a global laughing-stock. And the answer to this nagging question? Something original? Something no-one's thought of before? No. Just lock the war-crime-ridden cunt up. For 42000 years. Just to be on the safe side. How did I reach my conclusion? Simple prudent economics. Care to imagine the alternative? Not likely. Yet Gordon, the nation's Guardian Wanker ponders paranoid upon little else. But hang on a minute! You cry. What about the burden this would saddle on the sanctity of the public purse? (For some unknown reason our PM is in favour of visualizing the exchequer as a stallion...any psychologist who can explain this curious fantasy, please feel free to write in...I fancy it involves a fair few rustling noises though) Well don't worry yourselves on the account of his expense, we can make Gordon his own gaoler. Give him his own key (not the right one, of course). In fact, give him a bunch of 60 million keys - the one's he's mentally already had cut for our 60 million cells. Give him something to do. Important to keep inmates busy I've heard. Melt his down and fashion it into razor-blades. We wouldn't want the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland looking scruffy, now would we? Yes, yes, it's not right, it's not fair. But it sounds OK - to me. I mean, what d'you expect from a state-schoolboy? I didn't get a free education for nothing, you know (ha, I'm full of them tonight, really). You see, in Government schools, you don't develop much morality, it's not exactly encouraged, optional I believe...but sense of humour's a compulsory part of the curriculum - a core-subject, very well taught too. So back to the matter in hand. Let the convict remain in 10 Downing Street I think...s'not humane to remove people far from their nearest and dearest. New re-inforced steel door, a liberal sprinkling of bars (iron). Perhaps a nice high concrete perimeter-wall Berlin-style. Automatic machine guns and a neatly-raked strand beclustered with mines. Those commies sure understood how dangerous democracy is on the loose. Some chickens maybe. A pig (another one to keep the first one company). A quaint little curved wooden signplate over the garden gate with the word "Democracy" enscribed upon it. Televized or not televized, that is the question...well 18-rated I suppose. Not the sort of thing we'd want the children to know about, after all? Revenue from broadcasting rights could cover the upkeeps, neat. Could be quite a tourist attraction when Democracy (as we know it, bless it's viscious, evil, murdering soul) becomes extinct the-rest-of-the-world-over. The prisoner will be permitted to remain Prime Minister, of course, because we don't exactly relish the prospect of another prat-on-principle. However, serious challengers for the job are welcome to join him inside and debate away on policy to their ambitious little hearts' content. For the victorious candidate: usual official accommodation, comes with gardener. Absolutely no travelling required...nor allowed...until after tendering resignation. Mind, we'll have to abolish government and remove all it's instruments and officers - on the grounds of Health & Safety, naturally. Though wait a minute, we ought to get the most out of our Public Servants...efficiency considerations and all that...so one last little detail (because I wouldn't want it said I was without feeling): how about bestowing upon Mr Brown the honour of a Life Premiership? He did so covet the privilege.
Stick to plumbing you windy wanker or at least remain sober while posting.

I'm missing window-boxes brimming with flowers, pretty flowers in the front garden, and an arbor-trellis of brightly coloured flowers surrounding the gate. Oh yes, a beautiful sunny day would set the scene off perfectly.
(In the circumstances, I'll overlook the cunt and the wanker on this occasion - with luck, we'll soon be able to overlook him forever anyway.)
Remember your local council jobsworths are already monitoring your e -mails and phone calls under powers already granted to them under Terrorist legislation orders to seek out dangerous "Bin Terrorists" who leave the lid of their bins 2cms open or put the odd sweet wrapper in the wrong colour bin. You too could soon be having a visit from the Town Hall Terrorist Police and be locked up for 42 days in the local "chokey" You have been warned
OT. but I see that The Times have got hold of the Uncle Fester MEP -expenses story.

Oh very good :¬) well done Guido!
Any news on when the Charity Commission will report on it's "investigation"? Or haven't they thought of an excuse yet?
As Nu Lieber hits all time lows, spare a thought for existing Laws which cover the 42 days issue.
To hold any suspect the Home Secretary only has to go to Stressburg and derogate any individual case as being beyond and anomalous to the norm.
In the same manner, it could have joined all other EC Nations and derogated against homosexuals in the Armed Forces, but it never had the courage to do so whilst so many MP's are chasing each others backsides - is that a metaphor?
Thank Dog I've done my time and do not have to risk life and limb, underpaid and unappreciated by this worthless shower.

Why not go for "Theft - Breach of Trust" under S1 of the Theft Act 1968?
20 million seperate thefts from people who thought they'd voted for a Socialist government, only to discover it was in fact a bunch of Greedy Cunts.
21 months for each count equals a sentence of 35 million years. Perfect!
the only terrorists that scare me are the Labour party,
perhaps we should lock them up indefinately, starting with fat druggie Jacqui.
do MPs have to take routine doping tests? I think they should as it appears that half the Labour party are permently stoned on weed and the Tories are high on coke.
Not the kind of people i would trust to run the country, let alone an aircraft.
How can the Smith Institute ever be conceived of as being non-political?
Wasn't it started in honour of John "Mr Shadow Budget 1992" Smith?

Next you'll be telling us that the Serious Fraud Office is non-political!
Please, don't make us laugh; we all know the kind of backhanders and threats that go on behind the scenes to make the "non-political" organisations do exactly what the politicians ask them to do.
I once reported a massive fraud to the SFO but they wouldn't touch it because of the political ramifications. (how many other Robert Maxwell pension situations are currently in the process of happening? shit-loads, but they won't touch it because they know who's in charge of the money so it's very very politically sensitive)
