This cartoon is completely off the mark.

The MP wouldn't be slumming it with a butty - lobster thermadore, at the very least!!

And whre is the bottle(s) of vintage glug, eh?

THAT would make it more believable.

Hope every MP has this sent to his/her personal Blackberry and CHOKES on their fancy lunches. They are unfit to lick the armed forces boots.

don't worry, Gordon feels their pain and he's listening.

Nice caricature of Ed Balls.

This could and should be the straw that breaks the camel's back. The article talked mainly about the plight of single soldiers. In fact the biggest scandal is the series of demeaning hardships endured by married service families, especially the junior ranks. god awful housing, low pay, poor access to health care etc. etc.

Along with the housing and credit bubbles, the ministerial bullshit bubble has burst and been vapourised. Time to press home the attack on all fronts and see this useless shower of an excuse for a government put the sword.

nulab have made starving the military of funds, one of their few successful policies.
Never mind, they probably used the money to lift more children out of poverty...or was that the stealth tax money, or the fuel duty money ?

The piglike MP is clearly Ed Balls. A perfect likeness in fact.

For gold the merchant ploughs the main
The farmer ploughs the manor;
But glory is the sodger's prize,
The sodger's wealth is honour.
The brave poor sodger ne'er despise,
Nor count him as a stranger:
Remember he's his country's stay,
In day and hour o' danger.

Last verse of 'the soldier's return' by Robert Burns.

I've been banging on about how bad soldiers are treated since I first came on to the blogs and now we see why. Military websites and people have been all saying this for years.

Soldiers are out of sight and out of mind. Hook Hand Hamza has more rights to decent treatment than soldiers. Murdering cunts in jail, who are now out and pontificating, have more rights in an out. Coppers? Over paid by far. Firees etc. etc.

But it's all okay because Prescott, Blair and the rest have big houses and are earning millions.

However I don't see Cameron spouting off about it either.

Well at least the soldiers know how MPs staff feel, then. Yes this is a hint.

Don’t forget there’s not a single day that passes when Tony Blair doesn’t think about our wonderful armed forces whom he admires so much. And to think these clowns are still promising to build two large aircraft carriers, I'll believe that one when I see it.
Now let’s think how many MP's expense account lunches would it take to build those?

Briansj - I was going to post the link to this, but sod it. I am a bit of jingoist so here goes:- (I could have just stuck in the last verse, but...)

Tommy
Poem lyrics of Tommy by Rudyard Kipling.

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Although overall the British Army has been a force for good, I am a little concerned as to exactly how Guido will take this, as I understand he has Irish roots?

Err, Guido (and Rich/Mark/whoever), MPs can't claim lunches on expenses. Unlike journalists.

It's utterly shameful. But then you wouldn't really expect anything else from the most mandacious, self-serving and loathesome bunch of serial incompetents in living memory. Hang your heads in shame Brown, Browne, Bliar at al, you have excelled in taking this country, and its once-excellent forces, to a new low. May your demise be very slow and very painful, you surely deserve nothing less.

Guido Fawkes said...

Err, Anonymong @ 11.05, yes they can to the tune of £400 per month. Pay attention.

Well what a good idea the privatisation of the armed force was - kit that isn't delivered on time, aircraft that fall out the sky, malnourished soldiers and top brass being employed by defence contractors to keep them sweet and the contracts rolling in.

A disgraceful state of affairs but I wonder who started it? What sick ideology puts faith in the free market and the right to profit before the lives of our soldiers?

Craig said...

This is an absolute travesty. I'm speechless in my outrage over this.

PAYD was semi-expected to be a disaster but not nearly as bad as the Indy are reporting.

MoD should carry the can for this, and Des Browne should quit, taking his "lets privatise HM Forces" mantra with him.

Uncanny how much that MP looks like Tom Watson.

Polly is right - we bloggers ain't fit to kiss her arse said...

Tommy got no nosh?

Bean - do not upset Tommy - he has a gun.

Use Abraham's donation and feed poor Tommy.

You know! The money you promised to repay - I know, don't start with the tractor stats, else I will stop listening.
What the Fuck am I doing talking to you at all you fat cowardly gay Cunt?

Come out - get out - asap.

Not soldiers, mind.

a similar thread to this appeared a while ago saying how MET police dogs have a bigger food allowance then squaddies.

the comments made then still stand.

to put it succinctly:

Nulab have done their very best to crucify the army and are almost there.

The only thing stopping them is the calibre of individuals who stay in the forces, but long will that last..?

Will the conservatives make realistic promises to do better?

i don't hear anything dave.

ps lola - the irish and the british army is not a black and white relationship. look into how many senior commanders and ranks have a green tinge - you will be very surprised.

At least the reason why Labour tries to keep as many troops as humanly possible overseas is now quite clear.

If they were here and being treated like that there'd be a tank outside Parliament and 10 Downing Street.

Why would one expect anything different from a Labour government ? Utter scum personified.
The Forces might even benefit when they get absorbed into the EU Army - well, in the manner of leftist military everywhere it'll no doubt be called the "European Defence Force".
Who will provide the regimental commisssars I wonder ?

lola said...

Warriormonk - I know. Arguably the best CIGS - Alanbrooke - the Army Armed forces ever had was a scion of a Northern Irish family, I think he was a Protestant, but...

And whilst we are on the subject my old dad fought in the London Division with the London Scots and London Irish.

So I do realise the connections.

Actually I am moved to tears of frsration and fury by the way this shitty principle less government has used up the professional tradition of the armed forces and then let them down so completely. Much is made of 'bringing back' the public service ethos in the civil service, well the one place the concept of service still exists - just - is in the armed forces. It won't for much longer tho'.

It should be Obvious that before the EU Paramilitary Police force can start strutting their Stuff against us Unruly Anti EU Brits the Britsh army must be Demoralised and Culled.

OK, several ways you an help our Troops.

You could Join http://www.uknda.org

an Organisation set up to get mass Public support behind the Forces.

Another way is via a scheme called 'Suprise Supplies'

Please choose at least one, pass the info on to your Friends, Collegues and Relatives, asking them to do the same so we can all snowball this into what it needs to be.

Also you could also post the links onto other Blogs.
Show you Support out Troops by sending them Anonymous 'Suprise Supplies' ( Post Free if below 2Kg )

Did you Know that there are now More civil servants in the MOD than there are Troops.

warriormonk said...

lola - i stand corrected.

it has long been said that the 'can do' attitude of the armed forces is actually a tragic downfall as they have continued to produce the results on less and less resources.

of course we know that the results of this are an exhausted and demoralised force who are voting with their feet. but to a new lab drone he sees budget cuts with no break in service.

to use the old saying:
'whitehall, knows the cost of everything, and the value of nothing.'

My point is:
will the tories stick up for the army when and where it counts (£)
that could be a good vote winner (please take note tory advisors)

PAYD was sold as an improvement on the previous system which charged soldiers for three meals a day whether they ate them or not. Many were less than happy with the old system, as not everyone wanted to eat in all the time. The real scandal to my mind is that serving soldiers (sailors, airpersons etc) are expected to pay anything at all for their food OR their accommodation. It damn well ought to be free. It's the least we can do.
