Miliband is the New Heseltine
Last night Miliband was on Newsnight, unlike Gordon he does have the courage to face Paxo, and was arguing that "Green is the new red". All very worthy and dull eco-technocratic-tosh. More interesting were his protestations about not wanting Gordon's job. That is something that Alan Johnson emphasises as well. Clearly if you want to survive and not be mauled by the Brownies briefing behind your back, you have to say repeatedly "Gordon is the best man for the job". Despite the fact that, as Martin Bright writes in this week's New Statesman, the Labour Party is no longer in denial post the May Day Massacre.
Miliband's word formula is that he is getting on with being foreign secretary, it is becoming almost as familiar as Heseltine's old word formula: Heseltine used to say that there were "no circumstances imaginable currently in which he would..."
Last night it was nuanced very deliberately in Guido's opinion:
Miliband's word formulations have to allow for the non-cerebal Brownies' psychotic tendencies. Hence he pledges completely over the top total fidelity and loyalty - with a time limit - until the day after the general election. The truth is Gordon has the job until election day because no one else now wants it. That is also why Alan Johnson doesn't want the job of spinning on broadcast media, the job Hazel Blears undertook in the past for Blair. He clearly does not want to be associated in the public eye with the Brown disaster.
Guido still stands by his 2005 prophecy: Cameron will be PM and Miliband will immediately challenge for the leadership...

Paxo : How much longer can you resist these calls for you to take on the burden of leadership?Clearly Gordon is the captain and he can go down with the sinking ship, then it is everyone for himself...
Milibland : For as long as it takes until Gordon Brown calls the next general election. Gordon was the right leader last year and he is the right leader this year, and to take us into the general election

Its likely John McCain will be the next US president – brave bloke but old and seems a bit wishy washy.
But let’s imagine Obama wins with Hillary maybe running as his VP – unlikely, but if it happened it would certainly warrant the usual ‘history in the making’ hype and may stir a genuine feeling of optimism in the US and beyond.
Could Labour tie in the launch of their own new leader; how about a female Jim Hacker?
We’d then be into a new calendar year with all its unforeseen events not all of which will be harmful to the government of the day – maybe we don’t experience such a bad recession, maybe things perk up a bit!
My experience from the last recession is that people soon get bored of feeling pissed off and quickly start to look for ways to sort their problems out.
Gordon is history.
But Labour might not be.
I like the mockup of the sky news broadcast...
Millipede will skulk around until gordo can carry the can back to fife for losing the election. With luck the SNP will oust him there as well
Gordon Brown's unsuitability for the job was amply demonstrated by his reluctance to make a clear challenge when it was needed. If he had been a true leader he would have had the courage to do just that.
By sitting on the sidelines, Milleband is demonstrating that he is also not a natural leader (as if that wasn't obvious to all).
Leaders act while others watch (or scratch)!
The best bit of 'Newsnight' was easily Paxo's arse-rape of the hapless Jim Fitzpatrick. I was well-clenched.
Why Millipants, he is tainted both with Bliar & Brown? Would his party really vote for him? Could be worse, at least the Alexander clan seems to getting found out for what it is.
I can see the sense in Miliband's long term strategy but how is that going to go down with Labour MPs facing losing their seats and associated expense fiddles, if they go along with it?
Why would they be happy to go into the next general under the leadership of a loser, just to fulfil Miliband's ambitions?
I think you'll find that Gordon will NOT be leading Labour into the next election. They need to dump him now though if they are to stand a chance of putting the damage right. The Crewe and Nantwich by-election will give them them the current popular phrase "The Tipping Point".
What are Labour up to in Crewe and Nantwich? By putting up a candidate who is quite clearly anorexic and looking most unwell they seem to be scraping the barrel, even if the unfortunate lady is the daughter of the previous incumbent.
Has Brown already conceded defeat in C and N and is preparing his excuse ie our candidate was weak and that's the main reason we lost?
As Jock Ewing told Bobby " You don't get given power you TEK it!"
Last night Miliband was on Newsnight, unlike Gordon he does have the courage to face Paxo, and was arguing that "Green is the new red".
I.e., the new route to power for Marxists who want to smash the UK and rule the ruins. Poppa Miliband the Marxist philosopher would be proud of little David.
I argued precisely this point on the 5th. May, Miliband knows there is no value in leading the Labour Party into a defeat.
On a separate issue, did you know that former Labour councillors are blaming women candidates for their loss of seats in the north-east last week?
Milibland is yet another Labour snake-in-the-grass, he'll stick the knife in when he gets his chance but doesn't want to be tarred with the assassin's brush. GUTLESS.
Yep, poor Jimbo Fitzpatrick got it off Paxo prison-style, with no vaseline. Was expecting Paxo to whip out a shank and finish him off at the end. If there was ever sad excuse for a Minister it is him. He is the male version of the ginger smurf, Blears. How this muppet could be in charge of essential infrastructure like an airport is beyond comprehension.
I am slightly bewildered.
Miliband is undoubtedly a smooth operator, a competent minister and a highly intelligent man, and he is far more palatable than the ineffably disgusting Ed Balls. However, he does not display any leadership qualities and is, frankly, a little weird.
I could imagine him as the president of the Star Trek Appreciation Society, but not as PM. He strikes me as more of a wonk than a leader.
Send in the men in white coats!
For the good of the Labour party, for the good of Britain, for the good of the world, this deceitful little coward must be taken away and sectioned.
Would you believe it, he's even managed to make John Major look like a strong, decisive and great Prime Minister by comparison.
Major thrice won a mandate: when he challenged for the Tory leadership in 1990, winning the General Election in 1992 and seeing off John Redwood in 1995.
Brown on the other hand has thrice cowered away from a contest: in 1994 agains Blair, in June 2007 against McDonnell and in November 2007 against Cameron.
Could you imagine Brown strolling out into the Rose Garden, throwing down the gauntlet and saying "put up or shut up"?
No, me neither!
Of all my colleagues in the Labour Party, only one of them thinks he is doing a good job and can turn things around. Everyone else - left or right, new Labour or old Labour - utterly despise the man and think he should go.
The sooner, the better.
Call me Dave and the Tories will save us. Will they fuck. Revolution please.
Isn't that Fraser Kemp in the foreground of your mock-up? And why is Cameron wearing a poncey light-blue tie and high-collared shirt as if he was about to go to the opera?
Cameron or Milliband, what's the fucking difference? both have agreed to sell us out to the EU.
Was I the only one who thought it odd that the Foreign Secretary spent a good ten minutes talking to Paxman and the only sound he made about foreign affairs was bafflement about the idea of environmental refugees?
The sheeple will never learn i fear.
The Crewe Conservatives have used a Guido-esque picture of Mr Brown in one of their campaign leaflets.
If Milliband is their best hope, they are well and truly fucked.
Just let him carry on with the global warming babble and we'll all go to sleep.
He should be deported back to the planet he came from, together with his ridiculous glottal stop.
Milliband's a trot, just like the rest of his illegal alien family.
Like all trots he will profess undying love and support then stick the knife in when he knows its safe. The typical act of a self serving apparatchik seizing the greasy pole to get to the top.
No-one wants to topple Gordo, cos NuLab have become unelectable.
We'll just have to put up with a lame duck government for the next 4 years slowly imploding and acting treasonably, vide Lisbon Constitreaty.
ScumBags, lets hope the FT is right and Labour are bankrupted.
Gordon's hair will be white by 2010. Give him a Zimmer frame and it would be as if a psychotic Ming Campbell were leading the Labour party.
"Guido still stands by his 2005 prophecy: Cameron will be PM and Miliband will immediately challenge for the leadership..."
As others have said, I merely chime in with my agreement. Guido's scenario, quoted above, might be likely, but it won't be beneficial.
It is my firm belief that we will not be able to tell the difference. Subservience to the EU will be complete. The UK and England will both be broken up. No election thereafter will make any difference to the ruling elite. They will be entrenched until a putsch from within their own circle evicts one and promotes another. Any similarity to the USSR? Probably in more ways than we dare to dread.
The complete demolition of Wee Wendy this morning by Salmond is a treat - watch it here

Apologies if this has been posted here already, but I haven't seen it anywhere:

I see that we can now vote on Brown's future (unofficially sadly!) at
http://brown-out.blogspot.com/
Just for a moment when Sky news announced a man holed up in london shooting at police I thoght that Gordon Brown had flipped out big time.
"take me down if you dare."bam, bam " I'm the leader, you're all losers2 Bam bam.
"Taser him Guv'nor?"
"No, give him the sniper treatment, its for the best"
Miliband is a neo Marxist who is following in his fathers footsteps - ideologically speaking.
He has no affinity or liking of the concept the Nation State, so why would he want to be the "leader" of a Nation State, if not only to further erode its presence & quicken its complete assimilation into the European Socialist Superstate?
I rather enjoyed Paxos mauling of that Scottish incompetent Transport Minister (gosh, there are thousands of Scots working at every level of the anti English Neo Labour machine - every BBC news programme always has a raft of Scottish Government spokespeople).
Whoever he was, he must surely be out of a job this lunchtime for not knowing how many foreign criminals actually work air side at our airports?
Surely?
Brown has lost the plot. Today was the funeral of Labour stalwart Gwyneth Dunwoody, it was held at St Margaret's Church, in Westminster
Did Gordon pop across the road to attend? No, he went on telly, the This Morning show. Nice to know what his priorities are, I hope the voters of Crewe and Nantwich take note.
PS. David Cameron and George Osborne did attend to pay their last respects.
No-one else seems to have noticed. DID you see Miliband's rapid blinking?
THAT is normally seen as body language for someone who is lying.
The more rapid the eye-blinks the more serious the lie. and HIS were MASSIVELY rapid. So he was telling serious porkies.
OK OK MAYBE it was the studio lighting affecting him - but maybe not.
MAYBE it was because, in the interests of looking more "acceptable" (and remember Jack Straw did the same - without the eye blinking),that he has switched to contact lenses instead of Specs.
Well THAT was a year or more ago.
I speak with AUTHORITY. I WEAR contact lenses. I couldn't BEAR them for 6 months but then MAGIC and NORMAL rates of blinking.
And mine are HARD contact lenses AND I NEVER blink as much as Miliband - even in harsh lighting
conditions.
My only problem EVER was too dry air conditioning and London DUST.
The first did NOT generate rapid eyeblinking - just the need for "Refresh".
The second totally CLOSED my eye because I had a brick in there.
I DID NOT use "rapid eye movement" - which actually is the condition in sleep when one is DREAMING! OR lying!
HAte (I'm lying) to point another thing out but has anyone else noticed that the WORST politicians - Brown, Lembit Opik, Miliband and others ALL appear to have a problem with their jaw?
In Milibands case it is seriously SKEWED as is Opiks. Brown has a "dropping" jaw. Even Ed Miliband appears to have a problem.
Sorry to be so "personal"

Truth is, Milibland and the other twats really want Brown want to stay on, they certainly don`t want the cnut to walk away any time time this side of an election. They want the idiot to drown in his own crap, hoping that they can cling on to their own seats and then pick up the pieces afterwards. In that, I have to say they are right.
We all know what Brown does with his fingers. Now take a look at his hands...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULGsAb-nbt0
10 more years! 10 more years!
(Sorry this isn't really mike the erstwhile pensioner, I just miss the old booby)
Is it normal for a man to buy his children? Milliband is just too creepy to be PM.
Sir Michael White is infringing on your "Where's Gordon?" trade mark Guido.
On another point.
Should Gordon Brown have voted in last week's elections?
Even if it were not illegal is it not incumbent on a PM to set a good example and not use his two votes in two elections that are for the same layer of Government?
Where's his Tarzan costume?
Guido doesn't say why Miliband and not one of a dozen alternative freaks, including Milburn who looks almost normal. Why Miliband, GF - what marks him out?
(N.B. Miliband is stupid and ungrateful. Anybody who doesn't understand how useful it is to be in a nation state which doesn't meekly hand you over to the superior power on demand is...oh dear, there's a problem here. )
We've had 40+ years of marxism through the back door in all our public service institutions.
If you want to see the front door well and truly kicked in vote for Militwat if he ever has the guts to stand.
like Heseltine fated to get fuck all!
I'm sure he'll make a fine President of the Board of Trade!
Anonymous 2:33
Thank you ever so much for the Salmond/Alexander link; it is beautiful.
Also enjoyable is the Ministry of Information phraseology "...as he squared up to Scottish Labour leader Wendy Alexander during question time at Holyrood" was particularly choice.
David Miliband is Marxist scum.
Sure he concedes that Green is the new Red but this to reassure the Green Party nutters and Gardinistas.
Look at those bynts in the Green Party - Caroline Lucas and Sian Berry - Marxists both of them. Shaggable too, if only they would shut up.
"Green is the new red"
Very NU-Con.
Vote Blue, Go Green, Get Red.
Millipede is the new Heseltine - doesn't become PM.
Good astute move by Goron at a time when the troops are getting restless - misses Dunwood's funeral to meet the teashop and a governor of a US state.
From Al Beeb.
"Among the mourners were Conservative leader David Cameron, Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg and Chancellor Alistair Darling.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown was unable to attend the service as he was travelling to Northern Ireland to meet Irish counterpart Brian Cowen and New York mayor Michael Bloomberg."
No doubt some C and N voters and NuLab MPs will wonder about McHashBroon's priorities, at least he didn't go off to open another primary school. This won't look good if the Tories take the seat.
The Labour party will split. If Brown lurches hard left - he may win and lose the Blairites to the Liberals or Tory Liberal Democrats (Cameronites).
If Brown wavers back to the Blair line (mini-tories)- he will lose.
In the same way that Thatcherites have had to put up with platitudinous Tory leaders and the drift left to somewhere, as one of your bloggers brilliantly put it, to somewhere in former eastern Germany; so will working-class and intellectual Real Labour have to put up with this New Labour Tory posturing until we get the real deal.
Brown has been following Friedman with the perfect front-man Blair using a cape, creating the illusions - now Blair has gone and the Real Labour Bull has got Brown in its sights.
Nope, Milliband doesn't Save Britain either, have another try.

Anyone notice on Newsnight last night, that when Jim "I'm well oot o' ma depth" Fitzpatrick gets rattled, his eyes swell up to the size of cricket balls. The cunt looks like a ring-tailed lemur on speed.
Could all you meeja types, Paxo et al, when interviewing politicians please stop them from starting their reply with the word "Look....."
What they are actually saying is "Look, cunt......"
A smack in the mouth will prevent them from doing it twice.
Just a thought.
He gave Gordon his support for a year about 2 weeks ago - its a clear strategy, and maybe a threat.
eileen,
go easy on the crack! if you think mccain's going to win then you've OD'd - put that fucking crack pipe down NOW! mccain is a midget-leper. people do not vote for midget-lepers, don't be so fucking ignorant and politically correct willya?
GO OBAMA!!! obama is the man, get used to it.
hitlary is a bad loser.
and concerning miliband's position; the man is a turncoat.
he just can't be trusted. he used to be a blairite but now he backs brown. he used to be a marxist and now his party steals from the poor. in short, he is a very treacherous type of person.
and he is probably the worst and most compliant foreign secretary we've had since beckett. admittedly labour has provided so many terrible foreign secretaries it is difficult to tell.
note to miliband: what a fucking useless sell out spastic-cunt you are! leader of the labour party? don't make me fucking laugh you turncoat.
you're just a cunt!
oh yeah, you're name is on the list. infact, I'm looking forward to dispatching you, traitor.
God help us if Milipede gets into power. He is the supreme eco-trickster.
You think Leninslime had London stitched up with climate change crap? Wonderboy will have the whole country smothered in congestion / pollution traps and the motorway speed limit reduced to 30mph with a £1,000 fine for each mph exceeded.
Tax disc will be £2,000 for anything bigger than a a hairdryer and there'll be a new windscreen washer tax of £50 a bottle.
Mobile phone charger? Car manufacturers will be made to pay £500 duty per socket because phones use precious, Earth-wrecking electricity.
It's for the good of the planet, you see.
Millipede is Snotgobbler's protege. NUFF SAID.
Jeremy Paxman, August 2009.
"So, now that Gordon Brown has been relieved of his duties as PM and resettled in a caring home-community do any of you, his former colleagues, have any last final memories of the once great man ?"
Rt Hon Alistair Darling " good riddance to the old twat "
Rt Hon David Miliband " Yeah, what a prick he was."
Rt Hon Jacqui Smith. sniff, snuffle, "oh god I just want to cry"
Rt Hon Douglas Alexander " he was a right cunt he was..."
Rt Hon Des Browne " Too right, what a wanker."
Rt Hon Hazel Blears " He never was one of us you know "
Rt Hon Ruth Kelly " shut up you slag, what the fuck would you know ? "
Rt Hon Hilary Benn " My Da thought rather well of him "
Rt Hon Harriet Harman QC " Your Da was a cunt too "
Paxman forced to intervene.
Lets hear from you, Tony Blair ( European Union President Elect )
"Well, and let's make no bones about this, I always said the guy was just, well, y'now, a loser !!!"
Spontaneous applause all round as Tony endorses the challenge to find the New Leader of A New New and Better Caring Listening Labour.
Rt Hon Jack Straw exits left with fellow plotters

Nurse, you're leaving her out to long in the sun. FFS love, stick a big beanie hat on the windy old tart. Thank you.
I've said it before but I'll say it again, Milliband is a oleaginous creep with zero "doorstep appeal". He is no fool, however, and I think he has his eyes on a comfy EU sinecure during the wilderness after the next GE. A reward for his treason.
I suspect Clarke will stalk for Milburn and the Blairites will get back in control, but those 5 years in opposition might be a tough gig where Labour may tear itself apart between old and Blairite factions.
In the mix, who knows if the FibDums will survive, especially if New Labour implodes.
Can no-one understand what David Miliband said?
He didn't say "until the next General Election", he said "until Gordon Brown calls the next General Election".
This is far more interesting.
I'm all for Harold Saxon. http://www.haroldsaxon.co.uk/index.shtml
A pity he's not real.
and @thick as thieves: Obama is a fool, he has no idea about anything, he hugs racists (his grandfather was a commie and a racist, his wife is anti-American, his favorite preacher is a racist swine, his church is full of racists), and wants to get cozy with terrorists. Apart from that, he'll abandon the fledgling Iraqi democracy, destroy the hope of the Iraqi people for a change and will bring down the US with looking away from illegal immigration. Hillary is a commie in disguise and a pathological liar (like all Clintons and Democrats). I'm still sad that Fred Thompson dropped out of the Rep race.
fledgling Iraqi democracy?
you must be a crackhead.
Iraq is a failed state. it has been destroyed by us and america, but that ofcourse was the plan; to isolate, surpress and then exploit Iraq's oilfields. the money is being laundered through a UN trust fund.
you sound like a total spastic.
obama is the man, he's gonna walk all over mccain. get used to it you cunt.
