Labour Activists : "We Want Miliband"
LabourHome has started doing a tracker poll, if it is good enough for ConservativeHome and PoliticsHome it is good enough for them.Good news and bad news for Gordon, the good news is he is rated higher than his Chancellor. The bad news is he scored the second lowest out of the cabinet...
Most Labour activists rate Miliband highest, followed by Alan Johnson. Would Guido be completely crazy to suspect that this isn't really a 1 to 10 performance rating, but a proxy for "Who would you rather lead the Labour Party?" Of course it is...

Off topic, but the BBC is reporting that the Clegg-meister has finally dished up his expenses. £600 on the phone implies some serious chatline action....

Also off topic because Guido's is a non topic and this is the story: Fraser Nelson writes tomorrow about James Wonderboy Purnell. He's their man.
in fairness, I also voted in that survey, largely to play a very small part in mucking up their results.
I want Gordon to stay leader, see. As long as possible. He's great.*

*if you hate Labour, that is
When you see those names, you realise what a problem Labour has. Numpties, all.
And Brown's really in trouble when he's beaten by Shaun Woodward...
So that's why he didn't want to publish his expenses!
Burying bad news under the decaying corpse of the Labour Party, Cleggy?
Doesn't look particularly special for Mr and Mrs Balls either.
And as for the fact that Gordon is below Shaun Woodward. In that situation, I wouldn't just be thinking about resigning - I'd be contemplating suicide.
"I think the events of the last six to nine months are not ones that people will forget in a hurry."

The words above are the words of Mervyn King. I think we know what he's getting at.
It doesn't matter who they want, they have no chance, people are finally realising that this NuLabour lot an inept bunch of hasbeens and neverwases.
At the most two years to go,but it is enjoyable watching them implode.

Should Ken Livingstone make a comeback as a London MP?
No: 74%
Has Boris made a good first impression?
Yes: 77%
Yeah, genius. Giggle, giggle.
Paedo's! Fancy cradle-robbing like that. Millipede major is still in shorts.
Surely there must be a Balls up in there somewhere
Fuckin shame they don't rate Gordon's Love child, Ed Balls.
Ed and Yvette BALLS must be the most unelectable duo EVER!!
bill said "Surely there must be a Balls up in there somewhere"
Yes, his balls must be up - he's underneath his odious missus. I wonder what he's doing under there? So what!!
Som, PM Johnson it is, then. By September?
Would Guido be completely crazy to suspect that this isn't really a 1 to 10 performance rating (?)
No, I think it must be a 1 to 100 scale.
In all honesty, I could not see heir-to-Blair Miliband appealing to a broad enough spectrum of voters to turn things around for Labour. He will surely attract a number, but equally he will repel a lot. Additionally, he would be far more sympathetic towards taking military action against Iran - and that would certainly mean curtains for Labour.
Looking through the list I can see a lot of chaff, but there are two leaders who could take the party to the next election - although not beyond. Caretakers, if you like. Jack Straw is one, and the other - provided he keeps his head down and gets on with the job - is Gordon Brown.
Pretty bleak for Labour otherwise.
> PM Johnson it is, then.
Of course, he said he wasn't interested as he did not feel that he was up to the job. Rather surprised me that - I never thought I'd hear him tell the truth about anything! (Unless, perhaps you were referring to Boris - but I understand that he is otherwise occupied).
I voted and gave Balls top marks. Unfortunately no-one else did.
He would make a wonderful leader... wonderful for his opponents that is.
On the other hand, gordon is doing a pretty damn fine job. Long may he continue.
Surely the word "dismembered" has been omitted after "We want Miliband"?
Why all the ZaNuLab lurve for Milibandroid? He is a Wonk.
You can't trust a poll that places Gobshite so high. Who did this, Mugabe Polling?
Wheres Hazel for goodness sake?
Loved the next part...

Our second question was "How do we rebuild support?"
11.20% Winning back the middle classes
33.00% Shoring up the core vote
19.40% Successfully managing the economy
6.10% Attacking the Conservatives
30.00% Something else

Top two answers...
"Shoring up the core vote" = panic and retrenchment
"Something else" = haven't the foggiest
Bless 'em, they are in trouble aren't they?
Tamsin denies Gordon three times
The story continues..
Ed Balls gave him a kiss and the EU sent a squad of Romans to cary him off.
Pontius Pilate:[ looks very like Tony Blair]
"Didn't you know? yeah, I'm the President of Judea now. Yeah.. and I'm hoping to get Syria too.Fingers crossed.
Well to business. Gordon of Kircaldy, as an old friend.. as I said in my book, and don't take this the wrong way, but.. well you're not the Messiah.
Don't test me was that?
Ahh well.
Its just that , ye'know, the People..
That's "The People's People"
have spoken.
They said free Barabaness Ashton of Upholland instead. Yeah, amazing I know.
So Gordon, time for you to perform an economic miracle or it's up on a cross in a nappy for you I'm afraid.
I see.. well I'm just going to wash my hands for a bit.....
Did I tell you Cherie got that job at the UN..Yeah, Special Envoy to Antigua.. she's delighted...
Stop chewing those nails Gordon
The soldiers are going to need them in a minute..
Labourites want Miliband? That's odd. They all wanted Brown a few months back and said that he was the very best of the bunch.
Britain's first extraterrestrial prime minister. An exciting prospect. But could we be sure he'd give his loyalty to the planet earth, let alone the UK?
Pathetic list, don’t half of them have to be female etc? If these pigs ever get their noses out the grease they might realise that they are going to have to follow the Neil Kinnock path to self adoration and enrichment for the next few decades.
Its amazing, thirty years since Mrs T became PM and labour is still having to generate these single sex short lists of incompetents in the hope that one will get advanced beyond their merits.
Anonymous @ 22h07:
You raise an excellent point, and I think it is something that - deep down - really pisses the NuLabour / lefty / right-on types off immensely.
To wit, the facts that not only did the nasty, misogynistic, baby-eating Tories elect a non-toff woman to the top job, but did it completely on merit, without resort to female-only lists and suchlike gerrymandering.
Furthermore, it also turned out that she was bloody good at the job. It must make them look at their current crop and despair. Which makes me very, very happy indeed.
Isn't Millibrat one of the eight foot tall lizards that control us?
So... out of a list of sub-z rated bastards, the best - the very best hope for NuLab supporters is Millipede?!?!
Excuse me while I rupture my spleen in paroxysms of laughter.
They are actually further fucked than I thought possible.
Watch yer back Broon! Ye're dooooomed, Dooooooomed I tell Ye!

I detect the malign influence of Margaret Hodge.
Oh, and it's "Peados".
Let's face it, nobody takes any notice of what that flaccid little cunt Hilton says anyway, and especially not on his poor Conservativehome clone site.
Brown won't lose any sleep at all, and do we believe that anyone really thinks Milliband is top of the pile? He is top because that flaccid little cunt Hilton put him there for obvious cock sucking and bacon chomping reasons.
What! No Andy Burnham on the 'top candidates for Gordon's job' list! Might as well have some top totty as 'the face of Labour'! Still wouldn't vote for the f'krs though.
hell, this is a piffly bunch of comments - i might as well join in!
Of course it isn't a substitute 'who we want as leader poll'. I gave high marks to David Milliband, but I don't want him as leader - my choice isn't even listed!
And I wouldn't really describe a rating of 5.48 / 10 as a major demand from Labour activists as 'We Want Milliband' either!
Gordon IS the best.
Tragic.
True.
Beaten by Geoff HOOOOOOOOOOOON! That ain't a suicide offence, God would understand it was a dutiful personal execution. Watched that loser in PMQ's and he's like the village idiot - smiling for absolutely no reason - may have had his phone on vibrate. What an odious, contemptable, junior travel agent that Emmanuel is.
Tamsin Dunwoody should lead the party. I think she's brilliant - a real winner and 'one of us'.
Err no she's not - she's a Labour Party aristo (Granny is a Baroness) and doesn't live or work in the area....
I hope it's Milliband as Labour would sink without trace with that anti British communist prick in charge.
Its a pity they didn't have a place to vote for Tony to come back!! That would have been great fun.
