Downing Street Forces Purnell to Sack Adviser

Whatever the spin being put on this, the truth is that the Brownies do not want to hear criticism. Particularly when the criticism comes from media favourite James Purnell's speech writer (who was once Blair's speech writer).

Phil Collins has written in this month's Prospect Magazine a wonky piece which can be summarised roughly as Brown is crap, Cameron is right. How did the man who after the local elections said he was "listening and would learn from [his] mistakes" react? Gordon and the Brownies went berserk.

Purnell has been forced to sack his speech writer.

The line coming out that Purnell has not sacked Collins, he just now has a civil service speech writer, is of course bollocks. Civil servants don't write party political speeches. This is the spin from the same people who you may remember insisted that David Pitt-Watson was taking up the General Secretary position and contrary stories from Guido et al were wrong. Just a "few contractual wrinkles" to sort out they claimed. They subsequently admitted we were right and by implication they had lied shamelessly to their chosen interlocutor - Ben Brogan. This is what they do. Lie unattributably. Paul Waugh is their more sceptical chosen interlocutor this time....

A young man named Gordon bought a donkey from an old farmer for £100.00.

The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day, but when the farmer drove up he said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news... the donkey is on my truck, but unfortunately he's dead.

Gordon replied, "Well then, just give me my money back."

The farmer said, "I can't do that, because I've spent it already.

Gordon said, "OK then, well just unload the donkey anyway.

The farmer asked, "What are you going to do with him?"

Gordon answered, "I'm going to raffle him off."

To which the farmer exclaimed, "Surely you can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

But Gordon, with a wicked smile on his face said, "Of course I can, I just won't bother to tell anybody that he's dead."

A month later the farmer met up with Gordon and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Gordon said, "I raffled him off, sold 500 tickets at two pounds a piece and made a huge, fat profit!!"

Totally amazed, the farmer asked, "Didn't anyone complain that you had stolen their money because you lied about the donkey being dead?"

To which Gordon replied, "The only guy who found out about the donkey being dead was the raffle winner when he came to claim his prize. So I gave him his £2 raffle ticket money back plus an extra £200, which as you know is double the going rate for a donkey, so he thought I was great guy!!

Gordon grew up and eventually became the Chancellor of the Exchequer and then Prime Minister as and no matter how many times he lied, or how much money he stole from the British voters, as long as he gave them back some of the stolen money, most of them, unfortunately, still thought he was a great guy.

The moral of this story is that, if you think Gordon is about to play fair and do something for the everyday people of the country for once in his miserable, lying life, think again my friend, because you'll be better off flogging a dead donkey.

Farmer Gordon receives a windfall from selling a load of gold he found in a vault.

"I will spend the money on a brand new cart. It will be bigger and I can transport twice as many potatoes to the market."

A friend says" Are you sure. firstly, how do you know you will have twice as many potatoes? Your old cart does need some work to be sure. But your two donkeys are also quite old. Don't invest all your money in a new cart. Why not put some aside, just in case."

But Farmer Gordon spent all the money, and even borrowed a bit more, for a brand new cart.

A few weeks later the friend saw farmer Gordon sitting in his cart in the road. One of Donkeys that pulled the cart had died.

The friend tried to advise him.

"Cut the dead Donkey loose and proceed"
Farmer Gordon explained that the cart was now too heavy for one donkey to pull on its own.

"Well just go to the nearer market. Its not too far. The Donkey may just make it. Then with the profits buy another donkey. "

But I don't make nearly as much there. At best I would make a small loss. Plus the cost of another donkey will be too much for me.

"Then unload some of the potatoes. The lighter load can make the further market"

But someone will steal the ones I leave here. it will not be worth it.

"Go to the nearer market, sell enough to lighten the load, then go to the far market and sell the rest there."

But I will still lose out.Even if I
could borrow enough to buy another donkey, I still owe for the cart. I won't make a penny this year, and probably not next either.. oh woe is me.

"well, you dithering twat, what can you do? Sit here crying about the mess you have made all by yourself?"

No said Farmer Gordon. I will blame this situation on the Tories I inherited the farm from in 1997.

I liked the story about the donkey, I have a question which relates to Public (IE Govt) borrowing.

Why does the Govt Print Bonds that it then sells to the International Bankers offering them 5% Interest.

when it could simply Priont Money and put that into the econoimy.

Why Print Bonds (which carry an interest charge to us)

When gordon could simply Print Money and issue that into the economy.

The reason I ask is because it appears that ultimately Our Money system has been subverted.

three hundred yrs ago, King whatsisname needed money for a war, the International bankers said if you Pass the proceeds of taxation to us, we will print all the money you want us to.

Why didn't Purnell also get the sack? In your peculiarly written piece you have managed to avoid that elephant in the room.

I suppose you know that Purnell has repeatedly been one of the most expensive MPs in the United Kingdom with expenses in 2004 of more than £120,000.

JohnfromCamberley said...

Some random thoughts. Am too far gone (happily, on decent booze and excellent nosh) for a coherent argument.

1. Vaz is a human-slug chimera.

2. Purnell is a smirking teenager. He has no hope of further advancement; he is now in the best job that he has ever had or ever will have. The only reason that we are not being reminded daily of the hospital photoshop incident is that it is being saved for "special circumstances".

3. Brown is a basket case. The reason GB won't go is that he knows he is the worst PM ever and the worst Labour leader ever. When he leaves, he knows people will creep out of the woodwork and describe what he is like to work with in the most nauseating detail. The only way that Brown can delay the unfolding nightmare is to cling to power. I predict he will leave No 10 on a stretcher, subdued by a chemical cosh.

Neo-Fascism

Population control

The BBC are in it up to their necks as are the entire MSM and all electable European and American political Parties.

Collins (presumably with approval from Purnell) actually said that Brown (coded as Labour) was overly authoritarian, which is why the Party is unpopular.

MacShane said the Party is profligate.

Gisela Stuart said that Brown personally was deceptive.

These three together sum up Brown's failings very well.

Look, all this glee over the poll figures is all very well, but are we sure that that if the Tories get in they will be really any better than Nuliebour? Will they face the problems that beset us and take the appropriate action? I am not at all sure that they will.

The culture of benefit dependency is now so entrenched that it may be impossible to stop it. There is a huge industry dependent on it - massess of lobbyist and special interest groups all exist to extract more benefits for their particular constituency, but in effect it works the other way round. The constituency ( e.g. "the poor") exist to give these poeple the oportunity become lobbyists.

Similarly the Roman way of keeping the proles happy - bread and circuses - has morphed into Big Brother and MacDonalds. Will the proletariat really tolerate having all their transfer payments being removed?

Have the Tories the bottle to really get hold of welfarism by the throat and throttle it?

I am not at all sure that they have.
