"Secret" Meeting Today Over Pitt-Watson
According to the Tribune (yes it is still going) Dianne Hayter and Labour HQ staff had been attempting to keep the meeting today “as secret as possible”.
Pitt-Watson has missed three officers’ meetings and at least two business board meetings and has communicated only to confirm that he had not given notice to his present employer.

The next 2 years are inevitably going to be a period of "wait and see" . Let's face it - you join Labour- they lose - and you're frozen out of the "seat of power" for the next 10 years. Better to stay aloof until you know whether to cosy up to the Conservatives and then time your approach to ensure that you enjoy the necessary patronage. It happened in 1995 and it's happening again.
Everyone(even Labour in their heart of hearts)know Gordon is a loser and very few are likely to want to be associated with a loser
Perhaps he doesn't want to meet snotty till his cash is safe , his life insurance is paid up and all his mirrors are locked away.

OT - The story "Alan Johnson Fined Over Illegal Donation - Times" in the seen elsewhere bit prompted me to look at the Electoral Commission's register of donations.
Gordon Brown donated £89,707.81 to the Labour party in December, making him the 7th largest donor to the party in Q4 2007.
a) Why? and 2) Is this the 15% cut of his leadership campaign funds?(That would put him at pushing on for £600k.)
I also still haven't seen Jon Cruddas pay his 15% Levy.
What I have seen is other Deputy Candidates donate £1096.81 to the Party all at the same time Brown made his enormous payment. Given Brown's figure ends with 81p he's now paid his dues too.
