Lower Taxes for the Lower Paid

Watching Darling spluttering explanations for abolishing the 10p rate this morning it is clear that the Brownies can't see that their preference for taxing with one hand and then paying benefits back with the other hand, is a wasteful bureaucratic merry-go-round that doesn't work - except on paper.

Darling says "tax is complicated". Who complicated it? Simplify it by raising thresholds dramatically. Why should people on earnings of less than £10,000 pay any tax? They only have to fill out endless forms to get it back in welfare payments. Crazy. Raising the threshold on the low paid will incentivise people to come off benefits and work. It will reduce the cost of collection which is disproportionately higher on low incomes.

The Tories are too timid, the mood of the public has changed. New Labour has always referred to "unfunded tax cuts" and demanded to know how many hospitals and schools would correspondingly be cut. The Tories should be pointing to Labour's "unfunded spending commitments" which have given Britain the highest budget deficit in the Western world. We can't afford Labour's reckless spending commitments - they are literally mortgaging our children's taxes to pay for current spending. It is the economics of the "never, never".

That is exactly what George Osborne should have proposed but did he fuck!!

He seems to be going down this communist line of making people dependent on tha state as well. What happened to the Conservative ideals of letting people take charge of their own destiny?

Ah, but just increasing the thresholds shows people that hard work has a purpose and enterprise has a positive outcome and if they go to far down that road they may well vote Conservative.

It's far better to tax them and then give some back in the form of handout from the generous government (never actually mentioning that it is taxpayers money) this circle creates the client state of Labour voters who think that their handouts are linked to having a Labour government and it also employs an army of civil servants who know that their pitiful jobs are reliant on keeping said Labour government in power.

I can't wait to see these vested interests start fighting like rats in a sack..................

This lot want the low paid to feel they are beholdant to Labour for paying benefits which (they always claim) the nasty Toreeezzz will take away. So an expensive tax credit system is implemented and maintained (and countless billions wasted doing so) for no other reason than to try and ensure the low paid will continue to vote for them. No way to run a country.

Raise the tax thresholds high enough to remove the poorest from the PAYE system, Broon complicated the whole tax regime, look at the size of the income tax regulations. If thresholds are raised high enough, is there really a case for the bureaucratic shambles of the minimum wage.

The Tories need to weigh up a simplification of income taxes, and show some serious consideration of flat rate income taxes. The problem is that Broon and Darling have screwed up the economy.

Perhaps Broon will go beserk at a meeting and be taken off by the men in the white coats.

The governmental system (all three parties plus the others) is corrupt, corpulent and long overdue for root and branch reform.

Tax the poor? They already pay 17.5% tax on the majority of products and services that they buy. Just think about it. When people hunt around to find the most competitive price - the government demands a 17.5% fee.

Most money raised by government is in the marginal sense completely wasted - misdirected and fatuous policy implementation.

This government is trying to haul all income earners into its income tax net as part of its stalinistic own and control programmes.

People see through the fake-alternatives - blue, red, yellow are all the same - sucking at the euro-tit, spraying the electorate with merde, running from the accountability that they know they all have for this shambles.

The public have not only been let-down, the majority feel shamelessly exploited.

ID cards, an army-style police force, a complete break-down in public trust in the ability of the government to meet Burke's principles. History predicts that worms turn.

Dead right, Guido. Cameron should also be asking Brown why he's wasting £billions of our taxes on crap such as countless, obscene attacks on our civil liberty. One of the latest insults to our liberty:

Government snoopers are to pry into the intimate details of more than 500,000 people a year with a 2000 question survey, asking a series of probing questions about their sex lives and earnings.

Snoopers' questions will include:

details of previous sexual partners ~ contraception ~ exact dates when previous relationships ended ~ the precise amount of take-home pay ~ whether people earn extra money from second jobs/bonuses ~ health of children ~ probing questions about drinking and smoking habits, such as: "How soon after waking do you usually smoke your first cigarette of the day?" ~ whether they drink beer in pints, halves, cans or bottles.

The absurd questions include: "How many hearing aids do you have that you don't wear?"

Exactly how much will this survey with its sicko, intrusive, questions - which no one in their right mind is going to answer - cost the tax payer?

in previous post the parlimentary labour party are the biggest wasters of tax payer benefits known .

of course they are going to cite x number of periods of ecnomic growth and y ammount of numbers in employement .

it must be patently obvious to the tories that , the social security budget has increased in real terms and that labour are now committed to high tax forever .

they have made us ill , overpopulated , depressed , skint , spent our reserves , budgets are out of control , created a state clientel , been found out buttering there own crumpets again and are removing our freedoms day by day .

what arnt they telling us ?? the cost of EU membership is set to rise in real terms , state jobs for more state control.

i cant wait for the true scale of the national debt to be revealed particulary the off balance sheet PFI.

making the poor poorer both physically mentally and in there pockets.

this time labour have been well and truly found out , but this time they have created a far greater systemic form of poverty as we dont have exports to get us out of it quickly .

never mind all this underdog smoke screening malaki , its about time we had the figures , and that gordon and alistair told us how they are going to get out of this and when they expect to reduce taxes .

The more they hide the truth , the more we know they have lied and decieved .

being more candid about what we havent done is "so weak" gordon has not lifted 2 million children out of poverty as everyones bills are going up , you see you never can eradicate poverty with increasing handouts , its just wonk ideaology .

nu labour in order to stay in power have engineered this mess to help create the EU socialist superstate , with the 10p band hes more or less told the poor that they are cretins not worth a piss compared to his superstate masterplan .

the poor or being scarificed and being made worthless , whilst champagne socialist mansions go on .

call that general election , before you do any more harm , not that this fuckin mess isnt going to take a lifetime to sort (unless you want to tell us differently please do were all waiting for the gret ecnomic intellect to tell us how you are going to do it), changing the course of history my arse , youve trashed a perfect good rolls royce into the swamp.

'This year I am a divorced mother, working 28 hrs a week and with two sons 19 and 17. I still get some maintenance and tax credits for the 17 year old. Next year both will cease because he will leave full time education.

He is a clever lad and will go to university - which is going to cost a fortune. At the same time as facing uni costs, I will have to shoulder the financial burden of paying for my (and their) home from just my income - which will be further reduced by Gordon Brown's abolition of the 10p tax band.

I worked for years in low paid part time work so that I could bring my sons up properly, so my savings are few and my pension will be very limited. What's the point of working Gordon? So you and other MPs can enjoy perks that I can only dream of - and my limited income is squandered on your ridiculous bureaucratic social engineering.'

I cannot claim housing benefits nor income-based JSA because I have over £16,000 in savings and investments (savings towards a deposit to get on the property ladder, emergency savings, and I haven't started saving for my retirement yet).

Food prices are going up and my landlady would like to increase the rent because her mortgage has gone up. She came up with a swell idea for me to boost my income: take a second P/T job in the evening or at the weekend!

For what it's worth, I reckon the right thing to do in the short term is to restore the 10p starting rate and return the base rate to 22p. At least its revenue neutral.

Clearly, the base rate reduction is something we can't afford at this moment without impoverishing low earners (and one look at the budget deficit tells you that indeed we can't afford it). Bringing the base rate down was pure ego and show-offery by Brown in the first place, utterly disconnected from the facts and powered, frankly, by fart in its purest form.

Obviously Brown has his head a long way up his own arse on the subject of having brought the base rate down, and it would be very funny to se him have to back-pedal. I don't see why anyone should allow Brown to dictate an agenda that says that base rate equals 20p is sacrosanct.

It surprises me that Cameron and co haven't gone down this route. It's all firmly glued to the "economy not as healthy as Brown says" ethos, so it connects logically to existing Tory arguments.

As it stands, the argument for higher personal allowances is not a strong runner, because it isn't revenue neutral, or anything like it. The notion that taking large numbers of people out of the tax net cuts the overall tax collection costs doesn't really fly either, because of the costs of collecting and accounting for NI, which are considerable.

As an aside, the money saved, by disallowing some benefits claims because of claimants NI record, is actually less than the cost of accounting for NI in the first place! The long term idea of merging NI and income tax is therefore quite sound.

A lot of the cash guzzlers 'employed' by Go'on create nothing for the economy and just shove paper. Think of the benefit to the environment if all those trees were saved. On a practical note, an immediate way to reduce public spending would be to tell every quango to slash its spending by 20% immediately, not least in management, followed by annual cuts of 10% thereafter. Public spending is totally unsustainable and the sooner the knife is taken to it, the better for all concerned, not least those public sector workers at the sharp end performing real and valuable work. And split those cash savings equally between debt reduction and tax cuts. And for goodness sake, get the fucking government off the backs of the wealth producers, especially SMEs, before we all depend on the state for our income.

NuLiebour are as we know, obsessed with surveys and box ticking, despite it being common knowledge in the scientific and academic communities that member sof the public or study groups outside strictly controlled conditions, lie when reponsding to survey questions (ESPECIALLY those to do with money, possessions and sex). So an income bracket goes up one, year of car owned a bit younger, value of house up a bit and number of sex partners suddenly leaps (with blokes especially).

This intrusive nonsense from a nonsense government which will just generate more nonsense....

old labour taxed the rich, new labour tax the poor.
by doing so they have doomed themselves to atleast three terms in opposition.
why does the clunking fist keep punching the poor aswell as his own party in the face?
oh yeah, it's because he is a completely useless and self serving cunt!
what a fucking spastic.

On the lying fat (non-) bulimic thread, one poster recalls the braying NuLabor MP's when the Fat Controller announced his basic rate tax cut at the expense of the poorest paid.

If anyone has a link to the video of those comic proceedings could they please post it as it might provide some welcome ammunition against the rank hypocrisy which the Nulabor revolting masses will undoubtedly show shortly before they cave in for fear of losing their jobs sooner than the next GE.

If this Bleached Bog Brush had an ounce of brain he would introduce a flat rate income tax between 15 and 20%, then fire 90% of revenue employees who leach off us and watch the economy boom as it is doing in Eastern Europe.
