Clegg : the FCS Days, Denials and Delays

Calamity Clegg is denying this story that he was a member of the Cambridge University Conservative Association, unfortunately nobody believes him. Greg Hands MP says "There was only one Nick Clegg at Robinson College, and Nick Clegg was a member of CUCA." He should know, he was counting on Clegg's votes in the internal CUCA elections.

The Huhnie monsters accused Clegg of having a Tory past during the leadership election, something he denied at the time, as he does now.

Changing the subject, his press team told Guido a few weeks ago they would be publishing his expenses about now. Now Hannah in his office says they didn't tell Guido that, and they will be publishing his expenses in "a few weeks". Just as well, because Clegg himself warned us nearly a month ago that “Any delay will only add to the British public’s distrust in their politicians.”

This dolt really is a calamity. A Tory in Liberal clothing I am quite certain he couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery! I expect that in the next few months the long knives of the Lib Dems will be un sheathed to be rid of this calamity!

that's clegg finished then.
note to the liberal democrat spastics:right, who will be the next leader of the liberal democrat european party?
hurry up, there is little time before the next election. if calamity remains your leader, all will be lost.
excellent!
it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of EU occupying force collaborators!

Calamity Clegg is really living up to his name.

He's been an unmitigated disaster. Keep up the good work Chris! ... Or Nick - whatever your name is...

Well done Greg Hands for sitting on this story until now. If Clegg's lying about this, it makes you question his recent boasts, doesn't it?

I'd do anything to get my legover said...

.

But he only joined because he fancied some bint in the CUCA.

Don't forget he is ruled by his dick, not his brain.

It would be interesting to know who has claimed this in the past ten years and who has recently made enquiries:

“MPs who retire on grounds of sickness are given special dispensation to claim their full pension before they reach the age of 65. Several have made inquiries about whether it would be possible for them to quit the Commons on grounds of ill health — before voters eject them via the ballot box.”

Well if he's denying it then someone's lying. It's either a joke in poor taste or Clegg's toast. It is therefore more likely a joke imo.Young adults change their opinions frequently in my experience. Why would Clegg lie about it??

I bet the Tories are thinking: "Thank God he buggered off to fuck up the Lib Dems, instead of us!"

When does Clegg join Labour, I wonder?

Doesn't this story say more about Greg Hands than Nick Clegg. As I say Tory boys never grow up.

You're right! He must have joined in Sept/Oct 86 (whenever freshers fair for Michelmas term was) and FCS was closed in November.

That was when our reputation was at its lowest - publicity over Contras, Macmillan war criminal, anti-Anglo-Irish Agreement, etc.

The hard-right publicity must have been what attracted him. Then, when Tebbit closed the organisation he didn't rejoin as a protest!!

He only joined to chase after posh pussy. All the best looking girls are Tories.

Non-story. As an Oxbridge graduate, I can tell you that all sorts of people join OUCA and CUCA because of the following reasons:

a) They get in order to access the port and parties that both OUCA and CUCA are known for
b) They have a college friend standing for election within OUCA/CUCA who wants as many votes as possible. The nominee buys votes by paying for their chum's membership fee. The new member then votes for their friend and then never has anything to do with OUCA or CUCA again.
c) They get conned into it in Freshers Week by toffs in black tie. The Brideshead Revisited scales fall from the newbies eyes pretty quickly and they never have anything to do with OUCA and CUCA once they come to their senses.

To be honest, my money's on b). Given that O/CUCA change officers every TERM (3 a year) and have a number of officers (10+), it would be hard to go through Oxbridge without having a mate standing for elected office within the association. And given half of them try to buy votes...well, there you go. The odds of being an accidental Tory at Oxbridge are very high.

That’s ironic,,, a chap called Greg Hands confirms Cleggs lied about his past while Cleggs only claim to fame is having his party sit on their Hands while this country sinks further into the abyss that is Europe... Justice is served.

spot on and very true. You missed one though. I know a couple of people who joined up not because they were tories per se but because they were interested in politics but couldn't stomach the sanctimony and hectoring of the Libs-Labs (and, oddly, SWP) factions and therefore concluded "spose I must be a tory then."

I spent some time around Cambridge lefties and there is no faster way to get turned tory.

yeah, 'tory boys never blah blah' is really running out of steam, isnt he? you can tell his heart just isn't in it anymore.
that must be because even the new labour activists realize the propaganda war has been lost.
everyone thinks gordon brown is a fucking spastic. therefore anyone like tory boy who defends brown's government must also be politically retarded.
the new labour war and tax party has been damaged beyond repair.
all brown and his ambitious low calibre lackeys are doing now is wasting the country's time and money.
lives are being sacrificed to keep these cunts in power.
new labour aren't worth the price.
if gordon brown hasn't got the wit to understand that then he should
COME OUT and FUCK OFF!

Funny how being a member of the "Peoples Front of Tooting", or "The Popular Front for the liberation of Tunbridge Wells (Trotskyst)" or the "Mao Appreciation society of Richmond" or any other organisation calling for bloodshed, revolution, mass starving or other left wing fetishes is an acceptable way to spend ones youth.

Being a member of a middle of the road political party that polls at least 30% in each election is a no-no.

We live in a twisted society.

FCS girls must be the explanation for Cleggover reaching a respectable score. They really were great. They looked and dressed feminine and they liked men. Meanwhile on the other side, the sourfaced lefty dungaroid grungemonsters aped Dworkin in all things, wore shapeless Greenham chic, hated men and never quite washed enough during their monthlies...

Who would have thought that the whining scouse common tater Emlyn Hughes (2nd Year) was a Young Tory, or the beanpole liverpool striker Peter Crouch (top right, 3rd Year)?

It can't be a coincidence.

Out of interest, has Greg Hands broken the Data Protection Act here?

Revealing personal details.. holding data longer than necessary..

Or is any data from pre-1998 anybody's game?

you would have thought it would be easier to say , yes i was a member of the young conservatives when i was 17 .

but oh no , although it would be interesting to know when he became a member of the liberal party , i assume on the back of an appointement.

come on then ed wheres the expenses??

It is a story, because the twat's denying it, so he's a liar. Fuck him, and fair play to anyone who can keep a scrap of paper relating to a 25 year old student election. That's a top piece of record keeping.

Out of a bad bunch it was clear that Huhne was much better than Clegg, so fuck the LimpDums for choosing the empty headed sexaholic. That's them fucked, and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

Did anyone see the Snotgobbler on Channel 4 News? Christ, that man is ugly, at first I thought I'd switched on one of those "The Man with an Arse for a Face" style documentaries. And then I just wished that I had.

Explanation for why Clegg's name is crossed out on the list?

tory boys never grow up said...

Blue Eyes

Figure it out - but are keeping records of how people voted in some poxy student election 20 years ago and still knowing what the tick marks meant, together with publishing the names of people who probably don't want the world to know about their youthful indiscretions (should the same standard be applied to Cameron perhaps?) signs of a normal well balanced personality?

As for other well balanced personalities, bunch of thieves appears to have an advanced case of Tourettes, to say nothing of displaying symptoms of repressed sexuality.

Pretty much agree with what hitchy said.

I was at Oxford in the early 90s. out of 15,000 students, OUCA had about 1,500 members back then.

From what I know of Tory party history, it was a bit like the YCs used to be in the 1950s. i.e. loads of people joined for the cocktail parties, not the politics.

My recollection is that OUCA membership was explicitly distinct from membership of the Conservative Party. In fact, if memory serves, this factoid was used quite effectively by OUCA recruiters. E.g. "It's only a tenner and you don't have to be a Tory supporter, you'll make the money back on free Pimms at our drinks parties."

OULD (the Oxford University LibDems) had a similar "non-membership" rule (but no good drinks parties). So their membership was pretty slim.

The OU Labour Club required you to sign some sort of Clause 4 pledge as part of membership. so they had an okay membership - but only from genuine Labour voters.

Even if this documentation is accurate, if Cambs in 1986 was anything like Oxford in the eraly 90s, this oesn't show Clegg was a Tory. I imagine the denial from his office is that "He was never a member of the Conservative Party". that is probably consistent with this evidence.

Also, it's a tad disturbing that the Tories are willing to put their supposedly confidential membership lists into the public domain.

That's probably illegal. But certainly pretty shoddy.

Anonymous said...

It's not remotely shoddy. Data Protection does not cover paper records and there's an overriding public interest defence if a front line politician is seeking to mislead the public.

All this "So what if he was a Tory?" stuff is a total red herring. That's not the issue. The issue is that he is lying to his supporters and the public. He's a liar. Not only a liar but prepared to lie about something trivial and harmless - either a casual liar or someone with poor judgement and no sense of proportion.

Clegg's name is crossed out because the list was used twice in to mark off Greg Hands' supporters in CUCA elections and by the second one his one year membership - signified by the (A) - had expired so he wasn't eligible to vote.

The issue is not whether or not Cleggover was a Tory, you fuckwits. It's that he denies being a member of CUCA when he fucking obviously was. So he's a liar as well as a fucking twat generally. Alles klar?

thick as thieves said...

zombie boy,
my health is not in question.
well done for recruiting people to the conservative party. anyone who reads your posts can tell what bitter, humourless cunts you and the other members of the new labour war party are!
you know how in the movies, everyone cheers when the zombies get their heads blown off?
well, you're the zombie.
consider your party's demise as a sacrifice for the greater good of the country.
