+++ Cable : Clegg's Position "Unassailable" +++
Vince has just recorded an interview for GMTV, telling Jackie Ashley that the LibDems were not doing well enough. She asked if Clegg's position was "unassailable"? The ballroom dancing Ming assassin said Clegg was "completely unassailable".
Be afraid Nick, very afraid...

He really does need assailing..... preferably in a big ship to a far off island.
If his position is "unassailable", what has he got to be afraid of?
Clegg is two faced. Offers a referendum at the election then denies people a vote on Lisbon. Yet claims that the old - we know what's best for you - establishment is dead. and the people should be consulted!! Why doesn't he disintegrate on the spot from an excess of hypocrisy?
so he said Nick wasn't open to attack? What's wrong with that...
Definition of unassailable: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/unassailable
Yes. Clegg may be unassailable.
But that does not mean he is not beneath our contempt.
"Unassailable" probably means "I can't be bothered at the moment, but Clegg and Huhne will both lose their seats at the next GE, so let's see how things look in 2010".
Does he have "full confidence" in him too?
Came across this (no pun intended) -
Guido can you confirm, is this a Lib Dem blog?

To lose one leader would be careless; two an interesting coincidence, but a third? Surely even the LibDems will realise that they cannot let Vince get away with another scalp? Pity he doesn't spend more effort on his local constituency than he does dancing around, poignard in hand...
"completely unelectable" is what he actually said.
So now we know what Andy Marr will be talking about on Sunday.
Who is Nick Glegg again?
Is a wily old economist going to demonstrate that substance can win over style?
Clegg, give us our referendum! Why should the Irish Free State be the only one in the EU to have the luxury of having Barroso turning up to answer Ahern's 'Strawman' questions?
It implies that people (within the party) want to, but can't at the moment.
If no-one is challenging you, you don't get described as 'unassailable'.
He has had a miserable start to his leadership - three front bench resignations on his first 3 line whip, which was to abstain on a key vote, made a mess of the GQ interview by claiming to have slept with 30 women and 'hoping' he wouldn't cheat on his wife, and has managed to have absolutely no impact on the low polling that Ming Campbell handed over.
With Huhne and Cable behind me, I'd be worried - even if (for the moment) he is 'unassailable.
On Question Time last night Lembit seemed to acknowledge that Vince was showing more effective leadership...

What's wrong with it is that he said the same thing about Ming Campbell.
Will No. 31 be unassailable too?
If his position is "unassailable", what has he got to be afraid of?
I think the idea is that this is very similar to the chairman's vote of confidence when a football team isn't doing well.
Guido, this is all a bit confusing - how is this a story?
Perhaps he meant 'unsustainable'?
Folks, "Unassailable" is how Thatcher famously described Lawson a few days before he resigned as Chancellor. Keep up!
ime still waiting for clegg to tell us all why lib dems have not also been as shit as labour.
i like vince he knows his stuff and has made some very good insights into bad ecnomics.
i dont think the lib dems have revealed all yet , but if they have they are in trouble
that's clegg fucked then. still, will look forward to vince making gord look a right cunt at pmq's again, providing he doesnt mention Brenda.
We need Clog in. The stupid arse will win us 15 seats. Mince is just a back-stabbing old git who should just keep his trap shut. He never stands behind anyone unless he wants to knife them....
Yes, it's true. Lib on Lib knife crime is increasing. Bye bye Clegg.
