Bloggers Force No. 10 to Remove
Partisan Material on Website
Shane Greer wrote a story on Friday highlighting the links driving traffic from the Downing Street website to the Labour Party's local elections campaign website. This breaches the Ministerial Code which states explicitly:
The Cabinet Office issued specific guidance on 20 March 2008:
6.3 Official facilities and resources may not be used for the dissemination of material which is essentially party political.Linking to the front page of the Labour Party website seems to Guido to clearly breach the rules.
or
8.4 Ministers must only use official machinery for distributing texts of speeches relating to Government business. Speeches made in a party political context must be distributed through the Party machinery.
The Cabinet Office issued specific guidance on 20 March 2008:
“Elections to Local Authorities in England and Wales and to the Greater London Authority - Guidance on Conduct for Civil Servants in UK Government Departments”
Under the heading “Communication Activities” it states…
“It is also important to take care with official websites which will be scrutinised closely by the news media and the political parties during election periods.”
The story was taken up by PJC and Wonko's World. Wonko complained to a Mr Brown (no relation) on the Ethics Desk of the Cabinet Office. The link was gone yesterday afternoon. So much for the PR skills of the much heralded Carter imported Downing Street digital new media team. Guido has been compiling evidence of a pattern of systemic fraud by the Labour Party in abusing government resources for partisan purposes...

Every day, at every level, we see the new desperation employed by Brown to cling to office.
I urge him to stop biting his fingernails as they'll be the only things that he can use to grip onto Downing Street.
What about politicisation of the civil service? Or would that be under a different heading?
Does this mean the Downing Street website is guilty of trying to illegally influence the Local and Mayoral elections?
Prosecutions to follow, I trust.
I used to be in a group called 'Partisan'! It was the early 80s. We didn't get a record deal. I'm not bitter about that. I turned to History instead. Yesterday, a student referred to Brown's face as looking like a 'well worn scrotum'. Didn't Alan Bennett say this about WH Auden? He's just back after serving a two week suspension for possession of canabis resin. He was easier to control stoned, I'll say that. Anyway - the Cabinet Office actually has an 'Ethics' desk? I think we should all write to them.
FFS, you wont have time for anything else, if you cronicle every instance of wrongdoing by these venal fuckers and their use of Honikeresque social manipulation to achieve power and cling to it.
Is it too much to hope that the present charity commisioners do their duty and get the tax payers money back from the smith institute ?
I think the words 'chimps' and 'teaparty' springs to mind and visions of 'deckchairs' and 'sinking ships?
The fall and fall of the Brown empire and the infighting of the midget non entities that surround him will be edifying to say the least! Revenge is sweet and nobody deserves an extra large helping of natural justice than Gordon Brown!
Pity he had to destroy England for him to get his just reward.
compiling a pattern of systematic fraud by the labour party in abusing goverment resources for partisan purposes
nearly right for me guido but i would prefer
compiling a list of systemic democratic fraud by the labour party in abusing the votes and tax revenues of the people of the people of the british isles for funding the EU sociaist out reach project.
for your list my gran has just had her new bus pass and theres a rose logo in the corner , so what is it a bus pass or a propoganda reminder ???
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/DG_070598 has picture of bus pass with liebour rose - also appears to be wrapped up in red tape. That flower of England, Ruth Kelly unveiling.
Goof of you to keep a dossier Guido, but if the Cabinet Office is anything like those lazy, biased fucks at the Charity Commission it won't do much good...
Benefit payments next - provided by NuLabour.
A vote for us is a vote for continued dependance.
Fucking hell Guido I am still waiting for you to uncover more about Nicola Burdett - Gobbler's new Gaff Avoidance Officer. Who is paying her, how much, is she contract or permi, how much gold plated pension will she get and how much of a 'golden goobye' will she get when Dave sacks her?
GS @ 09:19
O/T but, I think it was originally said of Auden, in reference to his crumpled looks, 'if that's his face, what on earth is his scrotum like?"
I seem to remember it was by someone openly gay, maybe an artist (Warhol? Hockney?) but unlikely to be Bennett. Might have been Gordon.
There's any amount of glossy propanda masquerading as non-partisan community news, all published at taxpayer's expense. The Londoner being the most egregious example.
Do NOT get me going about the Charity Commission. Fine when they get their rake-off and everything's tickety - but the minute the scary people from the Official Receiver hove into view - the bastards don't want to know.
Guido, will you be makeing yourself redundant when the Tories win the next election? who will you have to slag off then?
Some mistake here methinks.
Should it not be the Cabinet Office E.Thicks department?
Ghost of Ian Smith.
Time for you to employ a food taster, Guido.
Has anyone else noticed how the BBC has ramped up its Labour propaganda?
I though they were supposed to be non biased!
There's no end to Labours deceit.
The civil service is full of Labours little hitlers.
If you are a civil servant and not "on message" excuses are made to get rid of you.
The civil service is now sadly just an arm of Liebour.
How are we going to get rid of these people when Liebour is history.
If the Red Rose IS on the millions of bus passes, surely it is an offence in EACH case?
Anyone??
p45,
I don't know about Guido but after all the zanulab zombies have been eradicated I intend to turn my attention to attacking the torydaleks who glide around this place.
I figure if I can get to their control panels I could probably rip their wires out with my bare hands, easy!
maybe a tazer would help stun them first.
are you a dalek, p45?
note to self: buy tazer and screwdriver. start watching dr who.
Two phone calls today to chase up the explanation I'd asked for and still none forthcoming. Pointed out to the nice lady that Guido had picked up on the story and that it was much better for her that she was dealing with me. A groan and a laugh ensued and she promised a call back this evening or tomorrow at the latest ...
"no more boom and bust" needs to become Gordon's equivalent of Norman Lamont's "green shoots of recovery".
It should be on every Tory leaflet, mentioned every time the economy is a topic on the news, brought up at every opportunity until nobody can remember anything about Gordon Brown except what a prat he was to think he could change the basic cycles of economics, and how completely the mess we are in today is down to his hubris and profligacy while he was chancellor.
One of my regulars tells me this was on BBC News this morning.
