So they buy a piece of land, fence it off, install a septic tank and connect the utilities. It is their property. So what if they haven't got authorisation from the planning commissars, it has no immediate neighbouring residential property. This is not a case of illegal squatting. They have just done a bit of green belt development, something the government says we will increasingly have to accept. Good luck to 'em.
As for Tessa Jowell's husband David Mills complaining that the gypsies broke the planning rules - he is one to talk about law breaking...

I hear that folks in Shipston started complaining a while ago about new arrivals in town with no taste, no inclination for proper work and who were under suspicion of having criminal tendencies. But they got used to Mills/Jowell and so they will no doubt get used to the gypsies as well.

When Jowell was first in government, her staff said that she had houses in the West Indies, Loch Lomond (being a crypto Scot), France, Warwickshire and Kentish Town. After nearly 11 years of the perks of office she may even have a few more now so I'm sure David Mills will have an alternative bolt hole.
It is only a matter of time that the policies of this despicable government begin to effect the very people who have ignored the wishes of the electorate. They cannot hide in their self imposed political bubble forever. Sooner or later they will be flushed out. We have all complained about the criminal activities of this group of people who appear to be outside of the law (the gypsies that is not the Labour party). John Prescott said they had every right to commandeer land!
It's racist to call them gypsies, they are travellers and they are achieving enrichment for the lucky couple, so they should be grateful and thank their own prescience in enacting the Human Rights Act to ensure that evil racists can't turn back the glorious tide of humanity washing over us and absolving our sins from generations past while teaching us all how to behave and to believe. There were a group of travellers living a long way from anyone, down a rural track. They owned the land.
They kept their small site scrupulously clean. Yet a Labour councillor got a thug friend to "accidentally" dump a load of stinking, contaminated waste around their compound and threaten them until they left.
Then Thuggo the Wonder Socialist dumped various types of illegal waste on the land in order to ensure the travellers could not return. (And he was seem doing this, so everyone knows it was not the travellers.)
So God knows what Jowell and her lawbreaking poodle will do to the travellers who are their neighbours.
I think it could get very unpleasant. For the travellers.
There is a god! Please, God, let the pikeys multiply and disperse their kin to the back gardens of Balls, Harperson, Blears, Cooper, Flint, Jowell, Millipede and of course the Snotgobbler.

Several points: everyone is jumping on the band wagon regarding Tessa Jowell - must be true because the papers said so! - but they moved about a year ago!! It was sold thro' Strutt & Parker in Moreton for close to £2m and secondly, their property was at least a mile away. But my main point is that travellers contribute NOTHING to society, crime increases when they move into the district, they disrupt local schools, pay no taxes, leave a mess when they leave and flout all the rules - witness the way they develop a paddock without planning for "change of use":Would we be allowed to do this? What is required is a website that brings together travellers that need land (most of them), NuLabour ministers in need of enrichment (all of them) and farmers looking to make a quick buck (all of them). First of all a database of NuLabour boltholes in unspoilt (ie unenriched) rural locations will be needed. (Ministers without rural boltholes will obviously want enrichment with a mosque). Get to it, Mr Fawkes.
It's a classic technique. Drop request for planning permission through council door at 4.59 on the day before a Bank Holiday weekend. Diggers and six-wheelers of hardcore go in at dawn the next day.
A band of travellers did a carbon copy of this at a place called Eckington in Worcestershire four years back. It took the council a year to evict them. Wonder if they're the same crowd ?

Stop Press: last week Lambeth Council voted to build a road on what is currently part of Brockwell Park. Residents were outraged, but the Labour council pushed it through with Jowell's support. So let's hear no wimpering about saving green land from the vile harpie!

Ignoring a court order to take down the buildings is against the law.
What with, retrospective planning requests, appeals and general time wasting tactics that court order (if it ever happens) and subsequent appeals could take a long time. Best the Gypsies get used to living with such an obnoxious neighbour as they could be there for many a long year.

The changes in baliff legislation means that in England baliffs can now kick your door in and use reasonable force to seize goods. No, they will not enforce planning permission because if they attempted to visit the site, they would probably be beaten up.
If, from time to time, gypsies rough up intransigent public officials, so what? they can't be all that bad then, can they? Let's be honest, who hasn't wanted to dish out a good hiding to some of these useless, interfering, petty, expensive, slow working, workshy public servants.
But if the gypsies really wanted to help the community they should concentrate their justice on those bastard traffic wardens.
Speaking as probably the only resident of Shipston on this board, I can tell you that Mills and Jowell don't even figure in the equation. They've broken the law; they've wrecked some decent agricultural land and they've pissed off everyone in a twenty mile radius. The place looks like a tip and they've only been in a week.
The lickspittle BBC article mentioned that they 'weren't able to live in permanent houses'. Well why the f%&k not? The rest of us seem to manage.
I was talking to a copper friend of mine and he was gloomily anticipating the eviction - full riot gear, dogs etc. 'Might be in two years, might be next week', was his assessment. 'but it'll happen'.
In the meantime they get to piss taxpayer's money - national and council - up against the wall with spurious applications for planning permission that'd never be granted, followed by endless appeals.
The fact that the land belongs to them is completely irrelevant. My car belongs to me: it doesn't mean I can drive it at 120mph through a built up area and then apply for a retrospective change in the speed limit.
Seems like some of them have spent thousands on buying the land. Good luck to them in getting that back when they have to move out - the way they've left it, it'll be useless for agriculture and not allowed for residence.
The only good thing about it is that the chances of Shipston being selected as the next green belt development area - already low following a big brownfield site redevelopment over the past five years - just hit negative numbers.
