One UK economist warned that the world is now close to a 1930s-like Great Depression, while New York traders said they had never experienced such fear. The Fed's emergency funding procedure was first used in the Depression and has rarely been used since.
And Darling&Bruun ban plastic bags..Displacement activity anyone or fuckwittery.
America's fifth largest bank last night became the biggest casualty so far of the global credit crunch - sold off to a rival at a knockdown $2 a share, a discount of 94% on last week when it was valued at $140bn.
USA less than one week to act Uk six months?
The fuckin house is on fire and bruun sits on his horse picking his nose.
The BBC Arabic channel cannot broadcast without fear or favour. There is now an agreement among Arab countries that broadcasting licences be withdrawn from satellite broadcasters where channels criticise heads of state, national governments or national policies.
"It will distinguish itself from other state-funded channels by reporting “without fear or favour”, BBC World Service director Nigel Chapman said."
That's a good idea. Do you think they might do that here too at some point?
It is depressing that our country adds more debt each year to its burden, but the silver lining is that with each year that passes, the list of things to be axed to sort things out grows and grows.
We could start with Jonathan Ross and the Arabic channel and take it from there .
I wondered if anyone would pick up on the subtext of Cameron's public breakfast briefing the other day. Didn't expect it would be richandmark. You have restored my faith.

If these 'cartoons' are supposed to stimulate political debate on a Monday morning, they are missing the (Rich and) mark somewhat. Can you not get out of bed a bit earlier on a Monday morning and give us something a litle more engaging?...
Why do you think he always uses the Irish economy as a beacon of prosperity?
Yes Ireland has a low tax economy, but its recent impressive growth came about due to the Irish being in the Euro. Ireland has also received billions in subsidy from the EU.
Yet Guido ( an Irishman in Ireland ) hates the EU and the Euro.
Furthermore Ireland has no NHS, no welfare state, and virtually no credible infrastructure. Its getting better, but with that nasty EU money.
Let me tell you a story about Ireland. ( I go quite often ).
My daughter was sick one night while in Ireland, we called a doc, and he met us at the local hospital at 1:00am. She had a virus, and he prescribed the appropriate medicine. He then wrote out his invoice £60 Euro. I flashed my NHS card, and he said thank you very much and we left with the 60 Eu in OUR pockets..
The next day our niece who lives in Ireland caught the same virus, again the doc was called late at night, same scenario unfolded, except her mother had to part with the 60 Euro.
Incidentally my niece also received an invoice when she was born, 1650 Euros.
Why do you think he (Guido) always uses the Irish economy as a beacon of prosperity?
Thank you for pointing out THAT truism. Gosh I must be thick not to have noticed that. Many many thanks for posting. Have printed out your whole comment and will use it later as an ass-wipe.
Somewhat strange that Brown would pile tax onto plastic bags at a time when he'll no doubt require a job-lot for the disposal of heavily soiled nappies. Although, it would be true to say that his outgoings are on us, anyway. Or maybe his aides casually fling the offending items into the back garden at number 10? Heaven knows what monstrous horrors will be found in Gordon's little palace when his 'power' is finally usurped and he is sent to stand in he corner for all time - his decadence will make the Marcos/Ceausescu/Hussein regimes seem but a trifle frivolous.
Incidentally my niece also received an invoice when she was born, 1650 Euros.
There is also a charge for the subtly understated privilege of being born in the UK, but it only applies to visa-holding immigrants. I've always wondered what happens if the proud parents do not pay up - does Jacqui Smith come around to the living-room and clamp the kid?
NuLiebor are so scared of this blog they are mounting a racist propaganda war against his Irish roots. Give me half a Guido rather than the infantile snotgobbler destroyer of our country and my pension. The piece of scum and his cohorts really don't give a sh*t about us. At least Dave isn't a raving nonce gay boy. The posters here have predicted we're all fu***d for a very long time, Guess what? We are! Nonces can't run anything other than there sick fantasies."D" notice my ar**e. The day Brown got power was the day all this nightmare started.
Find myself wondering why Cameron has missed so many 'open goals' left gaping by McBean and all, despite a 16 point lead in the 'polls'. Could it be that 'Call me Dave' has no solutions himself to the current crises and is waiting for New Labour to irrevocably bury itself at the next election some two years hence?
The economy won't be fixed overnight, and like the early 1980's, it's gonna be painful.

The BBC has launched a new Arabic language TV channel.
The channel is free to everyone in North Africa and the Middle East with a satellite or cable connection.
It will distinguish itself from other state-funded channels by reporting “without fear or favour”, BBC World Service director Nigel Chapman said.
This is the BBC’s second attempt at an Arabic channel. The first closed in 1996 in the wake of an editorial dispute with its Saudi funders.
The channel enters a crowded market, dominated by the Qatar-based al-Jazeera and the Saudi-funded al-Arabiya channels.

Every cloud has a silver lining:
The son of former deputy prime minister John Prescott has failed to be selected for his father's seat in Hull.
David Prescott lost out to local barrister Karl Turner in a seven-way selection battle.
According to the BBC.

So the BBC may or may not last.
Another Monday, another crap cartoon.

Hattersley!!!
And quit knocking Rich&Mark, imagine a blog without a Monday cartoon and a comment total or 13, half of which are penned by Verity.
Why do you all see Gudio as you hero.
Guido is a paddy who lives in Ireland
Happy St Patricks Guido
Guido is an Irish man who lives in Ireland.
Why do you think he always uses the Irish economy as a beacon of prosperity?

So Guido keep on using Ireland as a beacon.
Er, that cartoon - why the fuck is the ghost of Frankie Howerd looking at a bowl full of Thomas the Tank Engine faces? Eh? Eh?
Why do you think he (Guido) always uses the Irish economy as a beacon of prosperity?
