Paxo Gets Clegg to Shoot Himself in the Foot

Over on GuyNews is the whole Paxman Newsnight interview with Clegg. Guido's favourite bit is 4 minutes and 50 seconds in, when Clegg accuses the Labour Party of reneging on their referendum commitment. Doh!

As a Tory I was a little bit worried about Clegg's apparent effectiveness, but following the "walk out" and this interview I now realise he is ineffective and a twit.

My favourite bit is when Paxo brings up the topic of 'resignation letters' and Clegg suddenly looks defensive and not a little shifty..

I wonder why that would be ??

Ace Ace Ace !

Amazing that Clegg has not yet been leader for 3 months / crucial 100 days - and yet he already appears to have succeeded in precipitating a 'crisis of confidence' in his, ahem, 'leadership'.

What does it all mean ? I'm going to get a nice cup of coffee on before PMQs.

That was like watching a fucking train crash!

He exposed his own lies, and he exposed Labours, He exposed the whole EUSSR lie and in front of millions!

if you have a dog with four legs and a tail, Clegg and Brown rename the tail, a leg.

how many legs does the dog have?

four, just because you cunts call a tail a leg doesnt make it so.

how stupid do they think we are?

As much as Brown argues that Tories denied a referendum on all previous Treaties, how does this square with the clamour they(labour) made at the time demanding one.If they believed in a referendum then on treaties, whats changed now?

Clegg is a prat of the highest order.

His whole party has been blethering on for years about how it wants to devolve more power to local councils, to give individuals a greater say in their future. Then on the issue of the EU suddenly its "oh, forget that, I want to keep all power to myself. I won't even allow my own MPs to vote according to their own views on a matter which was a manifesto commitment". He's unravelled years of Liberal party politics in just a few months, coming across as power-mad and totally nuts in the same instant. He even manages to look decisively indecisive! A three line whip to abstain. You couldn't make it up.

It's not even the case that he is forcing his MPs to vote one way or the other. A three line whip to NOT VOTE AT ALL???? What the hell does that mean "I'm so sure that the Liberal party doesn't know right from wrong that I order all of you to abstain!". Definitely a man of principle! Imagine him in power - "We have brought in a new policy but we have decided to let the opposition determine whether it passes into law, because we can't decide if we know right from wrong".

Now he's forced a bunch of LimpDems to resign. Sure, why not? Why look as big an idiot as your glorious leader?

Come the next election Cameron will eat Clegg alive and leave the bloody remnants splattered all over the Bill of Rights.

That was an extreme tour de farce.

Clegg's position is based upon the premise that the Lisbon Treaty differs from the constitution rejected by France and the Netherlands. That premise is false.

He also says that a "No" vote in a referendum would change nothing. That is only true if parliament went ahead and voted for the Treaty either before or in spite of that "No" vote.

This calamitous Eurocrat is a liar and an enemy of democracy.

I couldn't believe that this moron had the balls to declare his position was consistant and logical! I need a pint of what this unprincipled pillock is drinking, it must be unbelievably strong.

Great to see such a 'presidential' approach from a party which normally is so indecisive that they need to call a party conference to determine whether they can answer a call of nature...

The Orange Bookers managed to stay below the radar while the leadership was being decided, and now the party faithful have woken up to realise that 'You've been Tangoed!!!'

In a referendum, we the people would decide if this was the same as the Constitution and we the people would decide if we were in favour of it or not. LimpDems and Labour MPs have torn that choice away from us on the basis of a definition of words in a title. We will not forget their betrayal.

Clegg is the most embarrassing party leader we've had since Michael Foot.

(Yes, I haven't forgotten Ian Duncan Smith... Clegg really is that bad).

On the Today program (Radio4) Cleg stated 'the Lisbon treaty is one third the size' of the EU Constitution.

I knew politicians were incompetent liars but Clegg is a joke.

the whole of Europes political class openly admit that they called a tail a leg to con the people and especially the British people who they know do not want it.

they admit it openly, they laugh about it, they will tell you openly it was just a rewrite aimed to confuse and still Brown has forced it through on a lie, he is rubbing shit in our faces!

time to get out of Europe lock stock and barrel.

time to pack up and go home lib dems, its over or you said...

Guido you said Paxo got Clegg to shoot himself in the foot!

talk about understatement of the year! Clegg blew his brains out against the wall!

you can just about see the mark if you look very very closely.

The obvious question is,"what dirty back room deal was done with labour to make it worth a three line whip, to have your party sit on its hands while such an important piece of legislation was passed over".
