BBC Finally Wakes Up to Snouts in the Trough
Nick Robinson, the BBC's chief political correspondent, blogged yesterday that
Guido actually reported (MPs Get Fat on Your Taxes) the £20 per diem allowance back in October 2005. Do try to keep up Nick...The fact that MPs can claim expenses of £250 without a receipt has already been greeted with widespread incredulity. The fact we learnt today is likely to be greeted with even more. MPs can, apparently, also claim £400 a month for food without receipts.

The above graphic from last December shows that MPs get £20 per day, no receipts required. That is 12 times as much as a fighting soldier has spent on him for food. Can it be any clearer where their real priorities lie?
UPDATE : It is worth reading in full Sam Coates' write-up of the Information Commissioner's tribunal where the parliamentary resources director tries to justify not letting us know how MPs spend public money feathering their nests.

Makes you wonder what their salary IS for - not for housing, accomodation, food, transport, stationary, assistance, duty on booze or fags - how on earth they can get through that 60 grand, with nothing left to spend it on? Women and boys of course are not yet subsidised, or are they?
The poor hard done by bastards must be really writhing under that filthy income tax, wonder when they'll abolish it for themselves.
Friend of Brown, Blair and all the Labour nasties. But, he will say, I was once a Conservative!
The man is a legend in his own mind. Give him a dog biscuit!
'Unless Gordon Brown changes, he will obliterate Labour'
"You saw it with David Cameron over MPs' expenses when he was out, very fast, dealing with the situation. Gordon must stop being a ditherer. He lacks courage. He looks at his papers, dithers and isn't sure."

Hashahahahaah his ten years as Mr Prudence has already done that!
Snotgobbler has the look of a man waiting for the chickens to come home to roost - on his weary shoulders shitting debt all down his back.
He's spent the family silver and he knows it...all the more galling for him that Blair basked in the good times and bailed out just before the shit hit the fan leaving McStalin to take the flack.
I expect Broon is praying for a Tory victory at the next election so he can hand the whole fucked-up economy to them and with a swift bit of Orwellian re-writing blame Cameroon for the mess a year down the line from the safety of opposition.

Report in todays Telegraph that the fees office have a list of maximum amounts they'll allow for particular things e.g. beds, t.v.'s etc. but won't reveal what they are because they know the fucking M.P.'s will claim to these limits.
Robinson is as usual being a bit twatty by suggesting the people who want more details on M.P.'s expenses in fact want to know what brand of cornflakes they buy. The best response to this in the comments was:
"Nick, you won't need to spend your career worrying which brand of cornflakes an MPs like: like the rest of us, they will (should) be paying for them out of (taxed) salary and will therefore find, like us, it is a private choice. However, when MPs do put in an expense claim for groceries then I want to be able to see, not so much what was bought as to its justfication."
Very fair comment I thought; and he understands the issues more than Robinson.
We (the taxpayer) should build them a cheapo block of flats complete with CISCO canteen, for their London duties. Probably best to lay on a free minibus service to Westminster and the train station or they'll start whinging.
Then we should charge them for food and accomodation, just as the armed forces are when stationed around the UK.
No receipts eh? A quick verse of
'Nice job if you can get it'
is called for.
Is Nick Robinson a reporter? I thought he was a Labour MP! Blimey! Wonder how HIS BBC expenses shape up? Only asking!
Better late then never.
Although sometime in May 97 would have saved us all one hell of a lot of pain.
As far as funding is concerned, the BBC should have been seriously watching the Labour party's even before clause 4 bit the dust.
We sort of knew that Trade Union finance was as good as immoral and potentially capable of vastly corrupting government policy. But a major British political party searching the cosmos for anyone or any foreign organization to fund it, should have rung bells in the media back in the early nineties.
It did of cause ring massively load bells. However the BBC did not have ears to hear them then. If it were not for the internet and the likes of Guido it still would not now.
IMO
One of the major reasons for this, is that the same people that are indirectly funding the New Labour and some of the Conservative party, are also funding the BBCs overdraft and its investment and expansion plans.
When my bank lends my company even quite small amounts of money it wants very much to know where it is being spent and why. It also insists on regular certified accounts.
So when a bank or financial other financial/covertly Zionist New World Order organization is giving the BBC many hundreds of millions IN OUR NAME. It will have an important say, one way or another, in how the BBC is being run. Whether the BBC likes it very much or not.
Capitalism is a great and wonderful thing.
However if you let it, which we most surly have, it will destroy everything usefully democratic, quicker then an invasion from outer space.

You forgot the mainstay of all expense sheets:
OOPS (out of pocket spending)
Further to my comments on the BBC.
Remember that the BBC is a so called, independent corporation. That now borrows lots of money from people that intend to make a nice profit while having almost complete confidence the capital and the interest is far safer then houses.
The security for the BBCs loans is the British Public though the every increasing TV tax.
So therefore under The BBCs current financial situation any substantial reform in the way The BBC is funded , without seriously pissing off, some very powerful and influential people indeed, is virtually impossible.
The only alternative is to sell it off to the people that already control it. Which may be the long or medium term plan anyway.
Which is why we should be very careful what we ask for, because we might actually get it.
The BBC should be closed down not sold off. Failing this it should be given to the public one share per TV tax payer, and left to fend for itself, without any enforced TV tax whatsoever.
Then the BBC could do or say whatever it wanted and be trusted on the same level as the rest of the Main Stream Media.
Which is, not very much or often at all, by both socialists and conservatives alike.
I travel for 4 about months per year on business. When I am away, I work 16 hour days 7 days per week. It costs £11K per day to send me, so I bloody well make sure I work hard. In my present job, I get £20 per day for food, and I need it - the cost of food at home is more like £5 per day (I usually spend between £20 and £30, so it is about right).
With my previous job, I only got receipted claims, which means that I lost money on every trip. Anyone who has ever had a job that involved spending long periods away from home would know this and that £20 is about right.
What is the alternative - only those able to fund themselves can be MP's?

1. nick robinson is a new labour propagandist.
the cunt has forfeited the right to describe himself as a journalist.
he is brown's official rimmer. every time I see that cunt he is either pushing or excusing the labour line. I've got a couple of silver bullets sat aside for this fucking propagandist black magic zombie. I've said it before but incase the wanker missed it; nick you are going to hell. you work for satan and you have willingly sold your soul to him. it doesn't matter how much you have screwed out of the bbc and therefore the public it won't be enough to buy it back.
2. he has definitely got a touch of downs syndrome. look at his fucking eyes, they're just wrong.
"just completing next weeks expenses.

Shouldn't that be done in the spirit of Wendy Alexander and be like this
Requirements £249.99
Stuff £249.99
Things £249.99 etc
one wonders how we have manged without investigative journalism for so long , perhaps weve been drugged!!
listened to mr slaughter , it was sparky right from the start , you can re listen on bbc r4 from fridays week in parliment slot . did not hear f word though, but slaughter did sound like a kid.
as for conways impact , the assumption was that you had to fund everything to make a clear line between gov and lobby funding .
so you could not have tesco paying for your shopping , and you arranging favours for them , hain obviously didnt want cheap groceries , he prefered cash .
show me the money, show me the money , quickly the sun bed meters about to ching !!
as for frank field and kate hoey if most of there constituancy wanted them to vote for referendum , they would have to represent them , just sorry all the others are so shit scared of gordon !!
Guido,
Is that Wee Wendy Alexander on the Pork Busters badge?
Robinson is a craven New Labour biased cunt who is a part of the problem and will never be a part of the solution. It is mickey mouse reporters like him and his BBC mates who have destroyed confidence in the MSM and so made the Bloggers the best source of the news that the establishment don't want you to know and so Nick Robinson doesn't tell you.
Robinson is a twat, and so are all the other Lobby journos. They all knew this was going on but prostituted their thoughts for access, Michael White being the biggest whore. What a bunch of cunts, no better than the arseholes they report on. In the same way that politicians have a very short window on redemption, so do the lobby. Wake up Nick and report what you see not what you're fucking told, you fucking toady.
Robinson has actually improved slightly in that he no longer says "the Prime Minister" in quite the vomit-inducing deferrential tone he used to.
When the cash for honours scandal was ongoing such was his coverage that I posted to his blog the suggestion a minor honour might be becoming possible. Didn't appear.
Any mention of the Israeli lobby being involved in pushing for the Iraq war is taboo on his blog. As is this link
http://www.thejc.com/home.aspx?ParentId=m11s19s116&SecId=116&AId=46698&AType
He did a whole programme on Radio 4 recently on those who fund politicians without once mentioning the pro-Israel party funders. His blog wouldn't allow a mention either.
Off topic but it turns out the police were routinely bugging conversations in jail between lawyers and their clients and then passing the info on to the Crown Prosecution Service. Apparently Ian Huntley and Miles Cooper (the chap who tried to blow up the DVLA offices) were among those targetted for illegal surveillance. As they weren't allowed a fair trial the Law Society are saying that there's a very high probability that their convictions will be completely overturned.
Robinson continues to show his true form - that of being an entirely politically driven animal. His whole approach is one of going with the flow and it's clear that he's finally woken up to real public opinion.
Shame, really. I suppose it's come as great shock to realise how far out of touch he is. He's so hilariously pantomime dame when he does his pieces to camera. Similar to Michael White - with a slight touch of The Mekon about him.
if I appear to be slightly aggrieved at nick 'the cunt' robinson, it is only because of the fact that if he and the rest of the scum at the brown bullshit corporation had done their jobs (that they are so overpaid to do) properly, this country would not have gone to war.
you are fucking scum nick. whether you are religious or have downs syndrome has got fuck all to do with the price of eggs, I've seen the list and your fucking name is on it, you moralist inverting motherfucker.
memo to self:prioritise satanist retard robinson, allocate wall urgently.
also, the bbc's claimed viewing figures are bollocks, they are way lower you lying cunts. your time is up bbc, you blew it because you chose to be the warmongers bitch.
ps. it may not seem the case but I am actually a very nice person it's just that I hate lying warmongers and their propagandists. I am sorry if I have offended anyone apart from the aforementioned.
Red Despot Spotter
I assume you are not an owner of your own company, so I will try to enlighten you as to how bad all this bullshit really is to people like myself.
Over the last decade Gordon Brown has busted a gut to fuck my back side. Far more then even his part time, must be blind partner, and the rest of the British people.
Remember it is my own money we are talking about here, not the tax payers.
Thanks to Gordon my accountant is now working for him instead of me, even though I still have to pay his bill.
I no longer run my car, my mobile phone or even my motor cycle on my OWN business. All of which are almost entirely used for business only.
I and my staff can not even accept a free cup of tea from a supplier without accounting and paying tax on it, or possibly be accused of breaking the law.
My home has been invaded by the customs and excise sometimes for days and not even a dodgy petrol bill has ever been found.
This because I claim almost nothing at all against my tax.
This I now do simply to reduce the paper work and make perfectly sure the Bastards leave me and my family alone. This way I can stay honest and therefore free from control by the system or anyone else. I no longer even borrow money from banks unless on a very short term basis.
A way of thinking it would be nice to have seen in all our politicians, never mind the ones that changed the accountancy rules to make virtually every independent business man a criminal simply for being in business at all.
If there are any small business men out there that still think Gordon Brown is not a evil crazy cunt of massive proportions, think again.
Start doing so by finding out what Self Assessment really means to your chances of, keeping your home and business, or possibly ending you up in prison one day.
If Ian Huntley and Miles Cooper were convicted on illegally obtained evidence then they should/MUST be released ASAP, and given full compensation and then some.
It simply is the only way to teach this ever more criminally dishonest government a lesson they might actually learn from.
Because it could be you next and you could just as easily be completely innocent.
It has been know for a long time that members of the jury often convict simply because the police seem so convinced about the accused guilt. Not because the cops have got any real material or quite often even circumstantial evidence.
Ask yourselves. How many times have you boasted in 'private' about doing something illegal to your mates or girlfriends, when if fact you did no such thing?
If not ever, then I believe you, however be sure, plenty do.

Exactly right.. i was saying to this Journo woman of my local paper only this morning that £40 is totally inadequate.
I mean look at this for instance.
The likes of shellfish cannelloni, succotash, red pepper coulis & breast of duck with parsnip puree, glazed turnip & crushed new potatoes. The Chartered surveyors Club around the corner want £34.00 for a simple lunch without wine.
What no breakfast ? No Din DiIns?
I said. Do you want MP's to starve?
Then the bloody woman had a bit of cheek and asked me if i didn't get a subsidised tax free mortgage for a second house so that I could have breakfast and supper there. 'That's what ordinary people have to do ..'
I'm afraid I went a bit 'SLAUGHTER' on her and stormed off.
I do not know or care what ordinary people do.. Mrs Bill Quango MP. has bridge, Salsa, Art and pottery, organic chicken rearing and social networking classes most nights so I always eat out.
PS thanks for the TROUT tip
£240 - £245 it is. Don't need anymore investigations, I was on the milenium Dome you know.. A whole graveyard of skeletons may come out of that one.
I don't want to hog the post but I must just share... , just before PMQ's
Dave talking to Ainseworth..
Are we having pancakes again today?

Enter the Prime Minister...
atlas shrugged,
as I am sure you are well aware, small businesses are the engine of capitalism.
thay are the biggest employers and tax contributors, probably because they are one of the only ones playing it straight.
not only that, small businesses can turn into medium size and then large concerns. big businesses only appear from nowhere when they involve drugs, money laundering or debt.
when small businesses are investigated by the customs and excise, which they are to a disproportionate degree, it often costs the taxman more than he retrieves. that rather proves my point about them playing it straight.
gordon brown couldn't give a fuck.
he's an economy destroying wanker.
what a fucking idiot he is.
As most of our MPs do their women and small boys there, why don't we nationalise Dolphin Square and billet them all there. At least we would know where the buggers are and be able keep an eye on them.
Until the Trust decided to turn the hotel into apartments, it was this country boy's London base, so I know they will want for nothing, so no whingeing please! As for me, I have to make do with the City Inn these days.
What the fuck is the matter with you lot? Half our kids leaving school without enough qualifications for a decent job; transport system broken; violence on the streets; overcrowding; society fragmented; crippling taxes to pay for "services" we detest; Britain on the verge of Islamification; our lives ruled by power-hungry people with no understanding of the human condition ... and all you do is whinge about a few quid on someone's expenses sheet.
Save your anger for what really matters.
I love this soviet style rewrites of History.
It was comrade the great leader Thatcher who stuffed army rations - removed butter and other goodies from the ration pack.
It was again the great leader who is responsible for us having to use Colt made ammunition and closed Enfield's factories. That is expensive so Gordon cheated and bought Czech 0.5 and you know what it doesn't work. So either we pay heaps to the sceptics or get wasted by Terry.
No helicopters? Who flogged off Westland? Heseltine was right.
Guido ideology sucks, stop being so neo-Soviet about it. Why didn't you mention this when the boyo's were blowing the shit out of the army in Ulster and they didn't even have decent cold weather clothing?
Glasses houses and stones, me thinks.

Do you see?
Nice reporting, Guido, and an excellent graphic. It really shows you where their priorities are.
Anyone who can't eat for considerably less than that, even away from home (where the fuck do you think those soldiers are?) is too foolish to be in a position of power anyway, and that certainly goes for all the fat, privately-funded wage apes as well, although who really cares if they bleed their companies dry in the search for a nice seafood cannelloni.
Idiot. If you want good leaders you have to pay them well. How much to US legislators get? That's the comparison to make
Interesting story in the Independent Guido.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/davis-embroiled-in-row-over-16320000-donation-780508.html
Nothing on David Davis using his friends to hide donations. Might also be worth asking questions about the fire which was used by his constituency association as the excuse for not filing its 2003 accounts - does that excuse work for tax returns as well? One wonders why the police/Electoral Commission are not investigating.
@ stephen:
So you're saying they are currently UNDERpaid? Or that you're blissfully happy with the quality of your elected representatives? Got to be one or the other if your statement is correct.
On second thought, it DOES explain the way the Iraq war is going. Maybe you should swap things around and pay the soldiers more?
Off topic, but Wendy's not out of the woods yet
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article3334740.ece
WENDY ALEXANDER, the Scottish Labour leader, is facing an investigation by the Electoral Commission into a claim that she channelled £12,000 through a Labour front organisation to fund her constituency office. The police have also been asked to investigate.
...
Businessmen, including a Scottish Conservative party fundraiser, claim they were misled into contributing to her office in the run-up to the 2003 election to the Scottish parliament.
They attended two dinners organised by the nominally independent Scottish Industry Forum (SIF), held to promote the economic renewal of Renfrewshire, unaware that the money raised would effectively be used to help Alexander to be re-elected as MSP for Paisley North.

Given that the PC only appeared in the UK in about '82, some time before the appearance of the internet your complaint seems somewhat deranged, perhaps you should look for a blog that covers 20th century history you twat.
I don't ever remember being particularly cold, just fucking wet all the time. The nice British Army even gave me 'spare' ammunition in case I ever had a 'negligent discharge' (of the non sexual kind).
Uniform boys even got special boots and gloves!
Poor old Derek Dolly Draper, the ranting Brownite cheerleader.
Looks like his TV presenter wife is playing away with a slinky, snake-hipped dancer.
Poor old deranged Dolly, though you can see why Kate prefers Anton.
Dolly must seem like a bloated bag of particularly smelly shite in comparison.

Garbage, frankly. So ability and morality is determined by cash? Probably is in your world. How much do you get paid, then?
It's starting to look like the Daz Challenge.

Poor Paxo stuffed today by the News of the World - bet he wishes he'd not been the author of the pants story his chickens came home
anon bbc troll 10.50,
have I got figures to back up my claim?
ofcourse I have you silly cunt.
have you seen the bbc digital tv numbers? they are lucky to get 60,000 viewers.
your figures are based on rajar ratings you fucking idiot.
do you know how they calculate those figures? well, as you are such a dumb fuck I will tell you.
they get a couple of thousand boring patsies to keep a written log of what they have watched and listened to in the previous week.
highly scientific eh?
the bbc is slitting its own throat pushing digital. we will be able to see how few people watch and listen to their poor quality broadcasts. you cretin!
what surprises me about this whole story is the more obvious angle - the MPs who pay their research staff absolutely nothing! My son worked every Wednesday, for up to 14 hours, for a Labour MP for nothing, while he was studying at the LSE. The MP didn't even have the good grace to pay his bus or tube fair or even his dinner when he was working late. And this wasn't the work experience of 'make a cup of tea will ya love' variety - it was briefing papers, research studies, handling casework and media enquiries. (He's a bright fella, my lad). MPs exploit these young enthusiastic kids by paying them nothing, in exactly the same way as they rip off taxayers with fake claims.
