Steve Morgan Sleaze Investigation

The Spin Industry's self regulatory body, the APPC, describes itself "as the representative and regulatory body for UK public affairs professionals in the consultancy sector." It was set up in the wake of brown-envelope lobbyist scandals by some of the more respectable lobbying firms to try and prevent the most egregious happenings that are endemic to a murky industry.

Guido has learnt that the APPC has received a complaint from James Davenport, a former employee of Morgan Allen Moore, concerning ten separate breaches of the APPC Code of Conduct by Steve Morgan, Hain's campaign manager. The book is well and truly being thrown at "Morgan the Organ"...

Huw Roberts Royal Mail director,(yet another!!!) Pensioner Phain FUND RAISER AND CONTRIBUTOR (and who never heard of John Mendelsohn's £5000 donation) ..according to an earlier Blog by your goodself in December. As far as I know Roberts does not appear among any of Pensioner's declared donors. Is there more Phain money lying out in the underwood???

rule 8 of the code states that political consultants may not
"Make any award or payment in money or in kind (including equity in a member firm) to any MP, MEP, sitting Peer or to any member of the Scottish Parliament or the National Assembly of Wales or the Northern Ireland Assembly or the Greater London Assembly, or to connected persons or persons acting on their account directly or through third parties"

so how can morgan pay hain £5k (via PPF) without being in breach of the code?

O/T but.. does anyone want a job with the Times?

Kaletsky appears to have spent so long up McBean's bottom that ALL his commenters have noticed the resultant myopia.

Just how long has he got?

Would any of these apply to Jon Mendelsohn?(Particularly point 7 and his donation to Brown.)

Or is he sufficiently removed from LLM Communications now?

Really it's Morgan Moore as Tracey Allen left Allen Morgan years ago. Richard Moore then joined. If ever 2 people deserved each other, they do.

Given Richard Moore's past it wont just be Steve Morgan that has the book thrown at him.

Anonymous said...

Apparently their office is so depressing, it's known as Morgan Allen Morgue internally...

My mistake, point 8.

Though could donations from Mendelsohn and Morgan be construed as a thankyou for picking them run their campaigns?

Although Steve has a dogbreath problem, painful piles and an unfeasibly desirable 'organ' I do not approve of this withcunt of a man just trying to earn an honest crust. Mock him at your peril.

The worst he ever did, in my book, is to longingly scan the horison for young totty whilst in my company. I am hurt but not bitter.

PMQS review
i think todays PMQS was woeful , all i can say is that in the publics mind this goverment is ailing fast, even a floating voter can now see, just how gordon was the wrong leader , he fails to answer questions that are of public necessity , the job he is paid to do by the tax payer.
no figures no meat , from an exhausted and corrupt goverment .

i award the full 5 points for todays PMQS on grounds of failing to answer responsible questions from both mr cameron and mr clegg , factually and responsibly,
taking your score to 55 and high lighting an increase in poor performance.

gordon brown is failing the nation , we pay dentists but cant get treatment , his euro vison is uncosted and looks like a very bad deal , his denial of the financial cost of his mismangement of the econmy for a rainy day is now electorial contempt .

for mr mcguire , it appears my info has already been found by someone else, so i shall have to reserve my exclusive , the questions have been part asked to mr hain today and on guido

More pearls of wisdom from ELUSIVE 'Professor'John Underwood think tank guru and sometime treasurer for Pensioner Phain.

This time in his capacity as non-executive director of Verita,,,consultancy..."
By being proactive about communication, and establishing trust with key journalists early on, you take control over what is reported. At a minimum this should eliminate the inaccuracies and misconceptions that can creep into coverage. At best, you will be credited for an open and responsible process and reliable conclusions"

and THE GREAT INCOMPETENT IS HIS STAR STUDENT AND DEVOTEE, well, apart from Verita's star client The Prime Minister's Delivery Unit...

Perhaps Guido [and others] would like to log on to the BBC's Newsnight blog [15. Jan 2008 'The Text of the Conservatives Letter re The Newsnight Revelations'] and explain how they [the BEEB] are indeed, the benchmark by which ALL other journalists judge themselves.
Are they your benchmark Guido?
If so. for what?

Chairman of Brown Broadcasting Company announced in a speech yesterday that from now on he has instructed his interviewers to allow politicians to develop their policies/visions during interviews without interruption.
The policy/vision can then be discussed afterwards.

Sounds fair doesn't it, until the thought might just cross your mind that we will be inundated with Nulab politicos elaborating on Gordon's vision for hour after hour.A party political broadcast by any other name......only officially it won't be one.

Other parties won't be given the airtime because the BBC only has to give fair airtime in the case of party political broadcasts.

Have you seen this pathetic stunt by Labour to try to smear Tory politicians as being as bad as they are? Brown's muppets really are scraping the barrel and bringing Parliament into disrepute:

Ken Livingstone has been accused of "misleading the public" after claiming an internal probe into the City Hall grants scandal was independent.

The Mayor was attacked by MPs from all three big political parties over his claim about the London Development Agency review. It examined allegations that LDA cash was misappropriated by friends of his adviser Lee Jasper.

The probe came after the Evening Standard raised concerns over organisations that have been given at least £3.3 million.

Questioned on TV news show BBC London last night, Mr Livingstone said: "We've just had one independent inquiry - the [LDA's] external auditors looked into this. They've dismissed 15 allegations."

But today the London Assembly heard evidence from two senior LDA officials dramatically at odds with Mr Livingstone's claims.

Andrew Travers, who led the review, told Assembly members: "The review has been conducted by a team of LDA staff supported by a team of internal auditors - the conclusions of the review are mine alone."

...

The LDA investigation, supported by auditors Deloitte, recommended that police investigate four projects. A Scotland Yard inquiry has now been launched.

They are:

• Diversity Works, from which programme manager Brenda Stern was forced out of her £75,000 job.

• The European Federation of Black Women Business Owners, which received £25,000 from the LDA.

• The Deshbangla Foundation, which received at least £30,000 in LDA grants: £20,000 in 2001/02 and £10,000 the following year. Its claimed purpose was to train Bangladeshi students in TV production. However, official records at the Charity Commission show it did not exist in 2001/ 02.

Done a bit more scratching into Huw Roberts' funded dinner which set Huw back £1300 out of his OWN pocket. It appears to be returned belatedly by Pensioner in the members interests and credited to HRA Ltd.
I am curious about Northern Ireland Secretary Shaun Woodward's involvement in the beano. Given his personal connections to the Sainsbury empire and sponsorship towards the cost of his costituency office from an ASDA heavy hitter, I am surprised that Pensioner ended up as a a Tesco bag man.

Does not sound like a successful fundraiser for the Incompetent(GB approved) Pensioner on the face of it. A painful experience for Huw and a lukewarm performance by Woodward.
