It is noticeable that old hands like Geof Hoon and Jack Straw have been the ones pushed in front of the cameras by Downing Street to defend the government during this whirlpool of incompetence. Ed Balls and Douglas Alexander have kept out of sight whispering in Gordon's ear. So it is a bit of a disappointment that Wee Dougie won't be on Question Time this week after all.Iain Dale is asking readers if they can work out why. Was it...?

According to tomorrows Guardian senior Labour officials and party lawyers set up the secret cash donation arrangements for Abrahams in 2003 and have kept them going ever since. Considerably more people in the higher echelons of the Labour party and the government knew about these arrangements that Brown admits to.

Not long ago, HIGNFY showed a brief clip of Balls on a visit to a butcher's (or maybe an abattoir). As the butcher/slaughterer carved up the carcass, the camera homed in on Balls, whose face was frozen with a look of utter disgust. Balls, suddenly realising he was on camera, quickly forced a grin that was about as genuine as Gordon Brown's marriage.

For those who do not know: Gordon Brown stuck his nose in this matter, putting pressure on the Portuguese to release the description of the alleged abductor allegedly seen by McCann's friend. The police believe this description is bogus.
When the case threatened to backfire and the parents became suspects, Clarence Mitchell (Head of Media Information, working for the Brown government) was sent to spin the story and ensure Gordon Brown never had egg on his face.
Now police fear Brown will block interviews with the suspects. If these interviews are blocked it will be the biggest government scandal since the dodgy dossiers.

Brown inherited a surplus of £38bn the results in part of UK exit from ERM. UK growth in the passed decade is a function of
a) exit from ERM which boosted exports, competitiveness and an inflow of foreign investment. This legacy has lasted for approaching two decades
b) low interest rates a function of low inflation thanks primarily to imports from China
On the ERM, Brown as Shadow Chancellor voted in favour of entry at the rate agreed. He was part of the decision.
Brown as great chancellor is a myth. Benefitted from events outside his remit. He has squandered billions in a profligate expansion of public sector. His sins and incompetence have yet to fully emerge.

Livingstone's response - for that's what it is - is contradictory and clearly (deliberately?) uninterested in the possibility that Jasper may well have been 'at it'. Still, it's only £2.5m so it's a mere bagatelle.

Council's were run really well in the areas until we had to amalgamate with Salford.

I note that Ken has stooped to dragging up the old "picaninny" business in his attack on journalist Andrew Gilligan, who unearthed the £2.5m scandal at GLA.
In case you didn't follow it, Gilligan once tried to explain to those too thick to understand that Boris Johnson had used the P-word ironically in one of his books to mock the language of imperialism.
This was enough to get Bozza labelled as a "hard-line racist" and Gilligan the same for having mentioned it.
Of course the Newt knows perfectly well what Boris meant, but by dressing it up as something different he will collect more votes from outraged blacks.
A nice move by Ken to deflect the real question of what's happened to the 2.5m.

No matter how clever we think we are in discovering these facts about Dunblane, there are people who are a lot cleverer and with much greater resources and much lesser conscience who will blackmail those involved to get what they want. Yes it is VERY shocking if you have no clue about these reprehensibly corrupt and depraved individuals (sexually, morally, financially etc etc), how they operate in packs, and how they are able to protect themselves by subverting the law at the very top, because they OWN the law at the very top - the police, judiciary and security services. The security services are obviously in on it too to protect their paymasters, although some of them have defected recently, shayler and that other guy who fled to switzerland, tomlinson - whether they also do it for blackmail and control reasons, seems highly likely to me - also defence of the Realm and all that. You can search D notices at Wiki - essentially they constrain tv/radio and especially newspaper editors to spike certain stories or sectors - in the age of the internet D notices are less effective - all the security services do is set their lawyers through individuals and intermediaries on web sites that are spilling the beans, or they hack the sites, or they threaten and intimidate the whisteleblowers, or frame them in any manner of ways, i.e the inland review, police harrasment etc etc. An ugly can of worms that no-one is willing to touch. Nappies and rocking horses are the tip of the iceberg and effectively take the heat off the real depravity and corruption - that is why this kind of dissent is 'allowed' - a convenient smokescreen layer...

Ooooh. It looks as if the Standard have been brewing this story nicely for some time. Look how they are cleverly closing the noose slowly around Red Ken as well as Jasper the Grasper. Kenny boy was always a political huckster of the worst kind. So now he is exposed as in deep with violent gangsters at a time when London's streets are thick with the blood of black-on-black violence. Now we can see why Ken was so keen to defend Jasper the Grasper yesterday - he already had worked out that the Standard could in any case put them both in the frame, so there was no point in being coy about it.
Red Ken needs a bit of a kicking for shaking hands with extremist nutters like Qaradawi (the guy who thinks that mutilating a girls privates isn't a bad thing, but 'isn't compulsory').
He oiled himself out of that, so it'd be rather lovely to see him being sucked into the ooze of another unpleasant corner of Lan-n taaan.
