Who is Leaking Now?

At the last stormy meeting of Tony Wright's Public Administration Select Committee, Yates of the Yard was blamed for leaking during the inquiry into Loans for Lordships. He pointed the finger at the politicians on the committee. They in turn accused the police.

So who told the Sunday papers about Levy trying to block publication (later today) of Gulam Noon's letter to the committee? Yates hasn't even seen the letter.

Here are a selection of the stories from the Sunday papers:
Who do you now believe was really responsible for the leaks and speculation, the police or the politicians?

Isn't it time that Strathclyde Polis, Durham Police and South Wales Police started some unattributable briefings of their own.

It all seems very quiet on Durhamgate, Wendygate and Phaingate.

Nice to see that the HMRC have 'lost' a consignment of cocaine from Coventry Airport.

Good to read that The Herald in Scotland have been listing the parts falling off Brown's tractor output.

So Northern Rock is going to get additional funds today c.£11bn, and Benn is boasting that the flood defences will be boosted over time by £200m.

The Pope and Margaret Thatcher are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

The ex-PM and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before, so to make it a little more interesting, Maggier says to the Pope, "Did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make ever Conservative in the crowd go wild?"

He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture and cheering from every Conservative in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering subsides.

The Pope, not wanting to be out done by such a level of arrogance, considers what he could do. "That was impressive. But did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every person in the crowd go crazy with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this day and rejoice."

Thatcher seriously doubts this, and says so. "One little wave of your hand and all people will rejoice forever? Show me."

So the Pope punched her.

Pity you didn't mention that the joke originally had the Pope and Hilary Clinton in the starring roles.

Still,we can't expect lefties to show much originality, can we?

To address the question:

Certainly the leak was from the Committee, but bear in mind that Wright will wish to ensure that he is not identified with it. No doubt they'll hold an internal inquiry which will finger some Civil Servant or other.

My money's on a member of the committee being the prime source.

I always understood governments had three principal duties: Ensure a stable economy, maintain law and order, and protect the nation's borders.

This lot have barely succeeded on any front. They have been too busy throwing elderly smokers out of the pub and pretending they can change the weather.

The whole shit-heap deserves to rot.

The donkeys at the top are Clause 4 to the core.

The ensuing financial meltdown will be used to nationalise as much as possible.

Northern Rock is just for starters.

Would that stop the story for now? Or can the Standard keep rolling it out?

Well they are all leaking and with enough leaks the boat sinks! Gosh I am in a clever mood today!!

newt sniffer -

the report(?) reads as if he'd sue over defamation of character - which is not the same as saying that the accusations of financial shenanigins underlying the story are untrue and can be shown to be such.

Can't quite see how it would be possible to defame a seriously nasty little scrote like him anyway. He's on a loser, I think.

To anonymous at 11:53 AM - The donkeys can 'nationalise' (steal) all they like. The only wealth generator left in the country 'The City' will move elsewhere taking it's money with it. Let them break the system completely - personally I no longer care. The whole thing is probably corrupted and broken beyond repair.

At some point in the very near future the money will run out. Then, when the hangers on, scroungers and clients of the state realise there's nothing left to feed them, nothing will save our political 'masters' from the violent fate that will befall them.

I look forward to giving them 'the good news' on my doorstep.

So who has leaked to Guido that Yates hasn't even see the Gulam Noon letter? In public Yates has always been very circumspect as to what evidence he has and hasn't seen.

Of course Guido could just be making it all up (again).
