Ah yes, keep the chavs locked up in school so they are not
1) on the unemployment register
2) not registered as a NEET
3) not robbing old grannies
and within a week or so, NuLab sock puppets will be claiming that we have the lowest level of youth unemployment ever! Alongside those old handy statements "the strongest ever economy with x quarters of uninterrupted economic growth" er forgetting that it's fueled by debt and high taxation; "2 million new jobs created since 1997", er more than half (2/3?) have gone to immigrants; "highest working population", er because taxes are so penal both partners have to work in families simply to make ends meet; "lowest unemployment" er because we call it incapacity benefit as it is less political than "unemployment". Whilst there are 900,000 on the dole, there are a grand total of 5.4million people of working age not working and drawing money off the state, thats a whopping 15% of the working population or just under 1 in 7.

Great to see that the 'Hastilow' affair has now made it impossible for any Tory candidates to be anything less than 100% in favour of migration - which means that a line can be drawn under the 'nasty party' years, as no one in the Parliamentary Party will defend him.
And they have shown by this that they are quite happy for the old farts who believe that 'Enoch was right' can piss off to the BNP, and leave the Tory Party as a liberal, right-of-centre, and above all else, ELECTABLE party, and leave all the 'Nasty Party' epithets behind.
Thank goodness the Conservatives are now dragging themselves into the 21st century, and leaving all that 'dog-whistle' bollocks to the Labour Party under Gordon Brown, where the tactic will backfire on them as badly as it did for Michael 'Something of the Right' Howard.

Many 16 year olds can spot cant and hyporacy, a phoney politican at 10 yards like a Photoshop fakir. Few would struggle to believe that a minster who proposed a the prohibition of mobile phone use, was caught discussing important deportation on his mobile issues whilst driving.
More might struggle to understand how a minister might not understand the rules on expenses, or how a concerned mother of a child with special needs has to leave the state system for specialist private teaching and yet resort to injuctions to stop the story appearing. We may also marvel at the number of times leading politicians have been clocked at a consistent speed of 99mph on motorways.
Some might struggle to understand how selling gold reserves at the bottom of a market is the action of a poltical genius.
Admittedly some 16 year olds, like some able and exceptional ministers might not understand the niceities of mortgage application forms or the need to tell the truth. Few sixth formerrs would struggle to ask where a large sum money came from to pay off a mortgage.
Some might raise an eyebrow or two about a minster ordering the bale out of Northern Rock whilst having his mortgage with them.

At 16, and even at 18, the brain hasn't yet fully matured. It does not generally do so until the mid-twenties. So we should probably be raising the voting age, rather than lowering it.

In the case of Gordon Brown and Ed Ball's staged photo opportunity this morning the students were taxied into college at vast expense at 7.30am, at a time when they're usually still in bed and an hour and a half before normal opening, in order to act as stage props.

Tony Benn has long been an advocate of dropping the voting age to 16. Communists like him and Broon think the kids will vote Labour, because they are too young to know better, will want to annoy their parents (if they are middle-class) and will be influenced by lefty teachers who where corderoy jackets with elbow patches. Most importantly, many of them will not be paying income tax by then and still living with their parents. This wil be the most cynical excercise in electoral manipulation, there has ever been.
I bet the BBC will be telling everyone what a great idea it is and writing (Labour) voting into the storylines of programmes watched by teenagers.
This is an attempt to put Labour voters into middle-class households and constituencies, that otherwise wouldn't be there.

If you give a minor the vote at 16, why not go all the way and give pregnant socialists two votes. They'll do anything to hang on to power and then have the nerve to bollock the Pakistani president for doing the same thing.
Gay Gordon wants to lower the voting age so that he can then lower the age for bumming.
Gordon Brown wants to increase the amount of jobs for school teachers and the aggregate amount of state employees.
Its as simple as that. Its all he has been doing for 10 years so why put a stop to a winning strategy.
Just don't expect it to improve the education of your children. Just cost you more in taxation, so you will not be able to afford a private tutor.
Educate them yourselves AMAP. Books have never been cheaper and the internet can help with the bits you cant do yourself. School is for play and socializing not much more.
At the end of the day education happens mainly, if not exclusively in the home and under the control of interested caring parents. This is even more true now then it has ever been.
Kids will not learn jack shit worth knowing if they do not freely wish to.
Even if they stayed at school for their entire lifetime. Gordon Browns knows this as well, he just don't give a shit.
So its our responsibility to give them the incentive to gain knowledge wisdom and experience by making it fun and rewarding. Leave it to the state and your children will never recover the wasted time.
However long they stay in Gordon's forced classes of socialist state indoctrination.
