That "E-Borders" Announcement

Gordon came into office promising change with an end to spin and a return to the primacy of parliament with government announcements made first in the House, not on the Today programme.

The E-borders deal (worth £500m, £650m, or £1.2bn, depending on whether you believe the Sun, the Mirror, or the Home Office) was announced not on the Regulatory News Service, or via a statement to the House of Commons, but at the bottom of a story in the Sun, in an article by one G. Brown.

Market sensitive information, put out in a tabloid. So much for "change"...

What are your moles at the Mail saying about the supposed proof they have of Smith informing Brown of the immigrant cover-up (which she denied in the House yesterday)?

Anyone following the PMQs today? Brown is a stuttering, stumbling, gibbering wreck.

In the interests of accuracy, the announcement was first reported here, almost two weeks ago:

Eh? What are you on about?

Don't worry, if it had G.Brown as a strap line then the story will be second-hand

I see the Sun has swallowed it whole. Kick them out before they even arrive, eh? How are they going to do that then?

Fascinating how the head of security in this country (G. Brown Esq.) seemed unable to admit he was only told a day or so ago about the latest Home Office banana skin.

PMQs are getting fun - Brown gets so rattled when his grand plan does not work out as expected by him. All those marginal constituency Labour MPs sitting on their hands, thinking to themselves: "perhaps Blair was better after all".

That's because the Head of Security in this country (one G.Brown esq.) is actually an illegal immigrant from some heathen country where they wear kilts, drink strong spirits, chuck large bits of wood at each other and eat sheep's intestines mixed with oatmeal; a bit like Ethiopia really, but without the sunshine and Bilharzia.

I gather he even has a picture on his mobile phone from when he was allowed to stand security on David Cameron's Lexus 400h.

£500m to know if a dodgy passport has been presented? High tech?

Jesus H on an iris-scanned ass!

"Over time, ministers will say, the arrangements will mesh with new biometric passports, visas and ID cards."

So what are they going to "mesh" with now? Library tickets?

The reason Gordon performs so badly at PMQs is because he knows in his heart of hearts that he's just a fraud. Blair, on the other hand, knew he was God, and it showed.

Still, at £1.2bn it is still a big trough for these scumbags to get their snouts into.
Should provide a kick back or two to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed.

I am glad to see two Scottish members of the master race at PMQs. I donlt agree that either is winning.

Gordon Brown consistantly refuses to answer the simple question of when he was told about the illegal immigrant fiasco and tries to leave the impression that as this was an "operational matter" it was soley for the Home Secretary to deal with. He would have been briefed with lines to take, certainly, by the 9th August, as the PUS had been copied in on the emails and he would have warned the Cabinet Sec. The Home Office Whip would always be copied in too as their job is to warn the Chief Whip of just these sort of problems. David Cameron and David Davis must persue this line relentlessly as Brown is clearly lying and is once again assuming that we are all fools.

So much freedom has been lost in the name of "Fighting Terrorism".We will see what happens when someone like Gordon Ramsey is barred from a flight to the UK because of a computer error; or flights are delayed because the Airlines cannot access the e-Borders system. They have a similar system in the US and last time we waited 3 hours because computers "were down".I don't think the links and hardware will be up to the job. Let's hope no other country copies this hair-brain idea.
