Is Harman Trying the "If I Go, You Go Too" Defence?
Guido is having difficulty understanding the maneuvering of the various Labour party players in the scandal. Dizzy is hinting that the source for the Evening Standard's writ attracting story on Mendelsohn is the Harman nominating MP, Kevan Jones. He was seen dining with the journalist who wrote the article in Shepherds the night before. Not conclusive, but interesting nonetheless.Another Labour source tells Guido plausibly that when Mendelsohn was appointed, Watt (a Blairite sympathiser) offered his resignation. When the Abrahams shit hit the Mail on Sunday fan, Watt was the Brownies designated fall guy. A political firebreak. Harman was to be kept in reserve in case the fires licked at the door of No. 10, hence the noticeable lack of support at the PM's monthly press conference.* So did Harriet encourage Kevan Jones to drop Mendelsohn right in it, thereby protecting herself by linking her fate to Gordon's fundraiser? Not sure if it makes sense, but it makes more sense than the Telegraph's bonkers hint that Abrahams might be a conduit for Mossad money.
With Mendelsohn feeling the intense heat and Brown's campaign manager Chris Leslie giving a bizarre explanation that he tore up a cheque from Abraham's proxy because he thought it dodgy, yet recommended the donor to Harman's people anyway. It gets better, Harman still has campaign debts, which are presumably financed with undeclared loans. Which is dodgy.
Hain's campaign, which according to the wife of a well connected SpAd was derailed by Guido (it was a pleasure), forgot to declare £5,000 given by Mendelsohn. That is Hain's story and he is sticking to it. For now. The police are really going to have their work cut out methinks. At least we have settled one thing, the consensus is that the name for the scandal is "Donorgate".
*The transcript of which on the Downing Street website is suspiciously heavily redacted "on party political grounds" something Guido does not recall happening in the Blair era. Also the usual video record is not available. Guido of course has his own copy to use to highlight a few of Gordon's untruths.

Mendy obviously also wanted to get on the gravy train as he is one of Gordon's campaign donors as well as being a fundraiser...
How come he is so well off he can afford to donate to both Brown and Hain?
Guido, I know you're on the wine but surely, even politicians don't lunch in the evening? :)
To lighten the tone, the newspapera still looks interesting.
I dunno what Gordon's done to the Times, but the lead is the curriculum for under 5s, and none of the columnists or commentators think its worth a mention apart from a lady who thinks GB can turn the Mr Bean jibe to his advantage!
I got up at 5am this morning to read Matthew Norman savage NuLab, but there is a distinct air of pathos in the article.
The Telegraph, well I don't really need to say, do I?
Second story now, in the Times, that Gordon the Moron's campaign team were well in with Mr. Abrahams (does that make me anti-semitic, Mel?). Second story - and actually, as the partne of four kids, the top story on the under-five curriculum is SHOCKING. No doubt they will get citizenship lessons from the age of 2.
The thing we all have to remember about Brown is that he is a total and utter c**t. And quite WHY so many people ever thought anything else is a mystery to me.
So the current shenanigans are a total hoot, and it's time Guido was knighted for services to the country :-)
I had a dream last night that it all got too much for the PM. and he topped himself in the laundry room at number 10 with a broom handle.
Sing along now, 'Oh happy days'
I missed the PMQ broadcast. Will you put thr unexpurgated version up on a friendly host site at some stage, please Guido?
Cyclops you conspiracy theory loving anti-semitic cunt. Why don't you fuck-off back to the Combat 18 website.
Stories of Mossad money, have been conveniently spread by "a Labour source" according to the Telegraph. Which means it is a red-herring that is trying to claim that Labour are poor innocent victims of those nasty Joooos, rather than, just the bent bastards who run the Labour Party. It's disgraceful, that the Labourgraph, is headlining this on Labour's behalf.
The simpleton 'geezer' seems to have his panties in a twist, and rightly so, because thruth does tend to upset those (and their enablers-->geezer) that have been caught red-handed with their hands in the till.
I think our friend cyclops has hit a nerve when the usual suspects' big guns like melanie phillips, and hendon trolls like geezer mobilise and claim the antisemitism card - how absolutely par for the course this is all playing out.
Do remember our war criminal in chief supported the Zionist Neocons to the hilt and dragged us into a war that has nothing to do with us - and that Israeli-corrupted man is currently living now in Jerusalem.
oi vey!
Hain is now admitting to receiving a £5k donation from Abrahams. Doesn't say if it was thorugh an agent.
Slight problem - he failed to declare it due to an 'administrative error'.
What are the chances that the one donation Hain failed to declare was from a guy at the centre of the current problems? Someone who was known by senior members of the party to be dodgy?
Either it's a bizarre coincidence, or Hain was deliberately trying to conceal this donation.
The conspiracy theories are getting out of hand. Abrahams is most likely not a conduit for Mossad and more likely a sad old poof with a bit of spare cash. His likely source of wealth is the £8M property portfolio that he sold to his own companies which borrowed from the bank to pay him. Apparently amongst the Jewish Community in Newcastle he is viewed as an oddball - was very close to his mother etc. I just hope that being the Labour Party's third largest donor he had a go on the rocking horse.
I can't help feeling that if Mossad were behind all this, they would have chosen someone a bit brighter than Abrahams?
But I have to admit, as a Jew (tho not a believer - and certainly not a Zionist), that the number of Jews mixed up in this murky business makes me feel very uneasy.
And I certainly don't understand how bombing the shit out of the Iraqis helped Israel - I'm much more persuaded by the argument of an American friend/former military intelligence officer that the US oil/big biz interests were behind all that.
Hee hee
Just got back to the UK today
Tried to keep up with events by bad internet connections, but plesae
Missed PMQ on Wed.
PLEaSE PLEASE does anyone anyone out there know a link so I can enjoy it?
Brown Toast on Sunday, anyone?

The conspiracy theories are getting out of hand.
No conspiracy THEORY here about Abrahams and his activities - what we clearly have is a CONSPIRACY.
Who conspired to do what exactly?
Abrahams conspired with members of Nulab up to and including Gordon Brown to give bungs to a plethora of MPs and Ministers via several proxies.
THAT is a conspiracy.
I don't buy the bit that he is a sad old poof, move along now, nothing to see here - this man was clearly a conduit to put Israel uppermost in the minds of NuLab at the very top.
And he was doing this throughout the 90s and 2000s too when Blair was taking us to an illgal war to protect Israel and steal Arab oil- a win win situation for psychopathic war criminals like Blair. Brown supported this policy and still does - he also supports backing Israel or the Americans should they decide to attack Iran.
I would say Abrahams achieved his objective over the last decade - that of embroiling us in war after war to serve interests other than our own.
In view of the names he will no doubt name from his little black book over the weekend I wouldn't be surprised if pressure/blackmail has not also been used in the past, not by Abrahams, but by others who knew of the 'long-standing arrangement.'
Hopefully Knacker Yates this time will not be in a concilatory mood and will go for the jugular.
Other interesting point from QT is that the 600k should be forfeited NOT given back.
Didn't Millibland predict on QT that in 6 months we'd be calling for Blair to come back? That was, er, 6 months ago.
PMQ? try this link

It's a north eatern conspiracy. People with hankerchiefs on their heads and eat spam, are trying to take over the world!
Please pretend the above was posted in all capitals.
Anti: and in green ink.
On the £600K:
"The Times has also learnt that officials from the Electoral Commission have raised doubts privately about Mr Brown’s decision to return Mr Abrahams’s £600,000 in unlawful donations. Commission staff were examining whether it was appropriate for an unlawful gift to be returned to the donor, who could give it back to Labour in his own name. The regulator has powers to apply to a court for an illegal donation to be surrendered to the Treasury’s Consolidated Fund."
Cyclops - you aren't welcome here. Don't bother coming back.
PMQs is freely available - No. 10 has suppressed the video of the Monday press conference.
Isnt it great to see NuLab devour itself like a pack of rabid dogs
Love to see Cabinet minutes ... bet theres a joyous exchange ...and they all have to be searched for any sharp objects before they are let in
When the press is muzzled by No. 10 you know there's something going on in the den.
Donorgate... Love it!
Oh and could we get the chamber of the Commons remodelled into a hexagon so all the factions now within the Government can each have a side?
Anon 8:45, they couldn't keep up with the remodelling. A dodecahedron might be OK this morning, but who knows about tomorrow?
It must be a difficult situation; if she stays she damages the party if she goes she damages the party.

It's alright, Straw say's Brown didn't know.
Thank God for that. Now we can all move on.
Hain is toast.
Not registering a donation is clearly worse than receiving illegal donations.
That the overlooked donation (hardly a needle in a haystack) is from a politically sensitive source aggravates the offence.
We're heading towards no-confidence vote territory.
As a non-spam eating, hanky wearing north easterner, I must rush to the defence of our region - we're a bunch of ill-educated hapless tw*ts employed in our thousands in mindless civil service jobs, who think nothing of popping the nation's personal records into an envelope marked "Nashunall Ordit Lundon", who appoint a journalist toff to chair a bank, and who would vote for the Labour candidate even if he wore a fetching uniform and had an unfortunate tendency to invade Poland. Now that gadgy Abrahams just follows in that tradition, although I thought it a bit queer when he scooped out that volcano and converted it to his private headquarters. I did the plastering - I should know!
Not Flash Gordon !

Quite.
I had a dream last night too! About a tearfull Yates being congratulated on the successfull prosecution of 20 Labourites in a re-opened 'Cash For Honours' case.Brown (As well as Blair) Has obviously said all-along to his cronies: 'Do what needs to be done but don't tell me!' With the media almost wholly on their side (The Gordo-Phile Jon Snow was almost crying last night with his paramour in so much trouble). It takes a while for the true nature of this crop of Labour politicians to be widely recognised by the wider populace.BUT IT HAS HAPPENED NOW TO BROWN ALSO.Thank God.
The recent Labour troubles brings me back to my childhood just after the war.
Nightly around I think 7.15pm wherever we were playing we would cease, rush indoors to listen to
Dick Barton Special Agent on the wireless.
When I log onto these posts I can hear D.B signature tune ringing in my ears.'The Devil's Gallop'
'The Devil's Gallop' - Isn't that another name for 'Opinion Leader Research'?
Just for you, Mr Washbrook
time travel.
Wee Harriet looks a bit happier this morning perchance, despite vigorous denials that she dropped the great leader in it, 'init? She would be more believeable if she didn't look quite so relieved.
Anyone seen what's happening at No. 10 this morning? Have they all gone back in their coffins?
When Yates of the Yard gets going on this, please could he check the audit trail of the Trade Union Modernisation Fund that was slipped into the 2004 Employment Act. We need to be assured that none of this taxpayers money found its way back to New Labour, with a Abrahams style scam.
Are there any Regional Development Agency links? That's where the big government bucks with the poor accountability are in the regions.
I'm not sure where the Telegraph hint that it's Mossad money?
The Telegraph illustrated their article with a photo of David Abrahams with Zvi Hefetz. Hefetz was investigated by the Israeli police in connection with money laundering by Vladimir Gusinsky, a Russian national and Israeli resident, oligarch billionaire and close friend of Boris Berevozsky, the oligarch billionaire living in exile in the UK, who was close to Alexander Litvinenko and himself a frequent FSB assassination target according to SIS.
Draw your own conclusions on all that, but whatever it is, it's more plausible than Mossad.
Thanks

OFFICIAL: Brown is not as clever as Blair. Blair had the sense to cling tightly to Levy whereas Brown has thrown Profit Abe to the wolves. Sheer joy should follow now Harm-man has shown the way.
Guido - your ratings must now be sky-rocketing. Great stuff!
Talking of the Number Ten website, it is a loathsome propaganda mouthpiece for the prime minister. Naturally, this site should tell us about the history of the building and the office of the PM, but all those creepy, air-brushed pictures of Broon surrounded by schoolchildren make it look like something out of the Labour Party manifesto.
In fact, a cursory look at most of the ministerial websites leaves the impression that the line between informing the public of government policy and party political propaganda has been well and truly blurred. And let us not forget that one or two government ministers have used their departmental blogs to slag off the opposition parties...
Who needs party funding when you can abuse the state's own communication tools?
How come purse-lipped Miss Proper is still so heavily in debt after her deputy leadership bid? She must have a secret hobby that has led her to live so far beyond the combined ,means of her and her huband.
It is my lowly and unconsidered opinion that the soon-to-be Infamous Press Confenrence Tape is not being suppressed for the PM's lack of support for Ms Harman but for the fact that he 'coughed' the job to the whole wide world at the first interview thus exposing himself to be the incompetent leader that he is.
Fancy admitting to a criminal offence before an investigation has even started. Worthy of a 10 year old juvenile shoplifter.
Thank you woman on a raft and Washbrook. You led me to this:-

Great stuff. No matter how corny it might sound sometimes, somebody had to do it first and nobody has done it better since JSB.
To get back on topic and try to keep in Guido's good books, all politicians are arseholes.
Thank you.
The press Conference is available at... http://tinyurl.com/36porw
(Poor quality but it is there.)
Appears to be a Domino MAD scenario here, whereby they all bring each other down in petulant hissy fits.
Glorious.
NuLab implodes.
Approximately 2,000 people in the Labour Party know about these loans.
That's what Jack Straw said this morning: "99.9% of people in the Labour Party had not been involved".
Membership is just over the 200,000 mark - there you go!
I just watched it again. (The poor sod.)
The kill line was from John Craig (Sky News). Brown was at NEC mtgs where the accounts were signed off and Watt gave a financial report. Brown's face as this question unfolds is a picture of perfect misery - even down to the fake smile and the fake note-taking. "Was I where? Oh. I don't remember. let me make a note of that date and we'll check that the minutes are all collected in and taken to the shreddermman."
The video has gone now - somebody is sweating.
Also, following Javelin's advice from yesterday, you can't access the register of data controllers to see if Gordon is the notified data controller for the Treasury because the system is 'temporarily unavailable for technical reasons'.
How inconvenient.
People can contact the ICO and ask for the notification helpline. The lady cheerily says they are able to run a search on demand, so it can't be that technically broken.
Jess the Dog
Not very good at sums are you!
Correct answer =200
You must be in politics
Jess - I think it's 200?
That would be enough to include Fat Gordo and all the rest of his horsey friends....
Harpie is still digging against Gordon.
"I strongly maintain I have complied with the letter and spirit of the law and I think Gordon Brown has done the same"
She only thinks Gordon Brown has done the same. It isn't exactly fulsome support is it?

"That's what Jack Straw said this morning: "99.9% of people in the Labour Party had not been involved"."
He said 99.9 RECURRING.
Ask you teacher to explain what that means.
Brown so angry with Harman 'that he won't speak to her directly'
Pete Hain's frolic in the deputy leader stakes was budgeted to cost £70k. Are there MORE (£65K)oversights due to rupture the Hain skeleton closet? Help us here Guido.

Reporting "the row" over all-party funding (and I'm sure that's all it is, just a row) the BBC was granted an endlessly reproduced audience with very important Jack 45 minutes Straw, WMD spotter, war criminal, liar, cheat, hypocrite, posturing egomaniac and transvestite. Nought point nought per cent of the population, recurring, and I would just point out, because its very important, that that's more than everybody, believes a fucking word I say, Jack told us, very importantly. Fewer people than none believe me when I say there are, or were, definitely WMD; we will not go to war without a second resolution or that I have been entirely faithful to my wife. I am minded to say that if, and this is very important, I went among the beasts in the fields and spoke importantly to them they would probably lay down and die. Absolutely nobody recurring believes a word I say. Not bad for a bloke who invented the sixties, single-handed. And before Queer Bishop Harries comes on with his Whitewash for the Day, John, I know we have known each other a long time, dine together, holiday together, bang the same slappers, but I think it is very important that, in the studio, at least, we observe the formalities, and you address me as Mein Very Important Fuhrer. Soon everybody recurring will be doing it, so you may as well get used to it.
John Welshman is such a scourge of politicians that practically all of them recurring can't wait to get on the Today Programme.

Jess the Dog, You calculation is nonsense.
He said 99.9 recurring %
i.e. 99.9999999.....
Obviously that is an exaggeration since at least one person in Labour knew.
Therefore, he should have said 99.9995%.
