Exclusive : Wendy Alexander Thank You Note Proves She Knew
This letter should mean Wendy Alexander is toast. This personal note (dated October 5) to Paul Green shows that her telling the media that the first time she knew about the personal donation from Paul Green was 1 pm yesterday, is completely untrue.Paul Green has also admitted that he gave two personal cheques of £950 which would have put him over the £1000 barrier and shown he was an impermissible donor.
Tom McCabe, her campaign manager, also said on Newsnight Scotland last night that David Whitton MSP was the treasurer for Wendy's campaign. Yet it was David Whitton who put this statement out on Wednesday night:
"Paul Green was invited by one on the Campaign Team to make a donation as a longstanding Labour supporter. As required by the rules we made inquiries about permissibility and indicated to him that only a UK resident or UK registered company could donate. The registered donation was a UK corporate one. The allegation that a donation was accepted and returned is untrue. We acted in good faith at every stage. The Electoral Commission has been kept appraised."The Treasurer would have surely seen the personal cheques and Wendy could not have signed this without noticing the address was Jersey...
N.B. There is no wriggle room. She is on the hook completely;
4.3 It is the legal responsibility of a regulated donee, when receiving a donation to take all reasonable steps forthwith to satisfy themselves that the source of a donation is permissible within the relevant PPERA rules.

Will the Wendster do some Scots porridge?
how did u find that
will she have to resign?
The letter has obviously been written by a flunky (most obviously because the letter comes from a residential address in Glasgow, not a campaign office).
BUT - that looks like Wendy's signature and it looks like the letter is addressed to Jersey, no less. Drafted by a flunky or not, this looks difficult for Wendy.
You fools this is bad news for the SNP - stop leave her alone, there is a danger that they will replace her with someone capable!!!
Oooooooohhh....that feels so good.
Can't wait for the Sunday papers....
I see she didn't know how to spell "privileged" - how embarrassing
Looking at the mug shot, she knows she's in the doo doo. And it ain't gordon's.
Oh boy. Is she ever in it now. Not often in politics you get caught telling a whopper that you can't spin your way out of - no way to fudge this one, it's a big fat L.I.E.
And she is the sister of Brown's boy Douglas Alexander, surely?.
And, like Gordon Brown, she is the child of a Scottish clergyman.
I blame the parents.
This just gets better and better does hubby know ? is he also a criminal now?.
How long before this trail of paper leads to rocking horse central? then we will hear the fist clunk.
The letter is addressed to Paul Green in JERSEY! Priceless.
C'mon Guido. How the hell did you get this letter!?
I spent a large part of the mid 90's to early 00's muttering about "******* fiddling Tories"
Now I see that Tone really learnt his lessons whilst in opposition. So now we have "****** fiddling Labourites" writ large with Mr Bean leading them.
Surely, this DonorGate is at government resignation level now!
Come on Gord, CALL A GENERAL ELECTION NOW.
Guido gets a scalp for Christmas. Just what he always wanted.
Surely someone has replaced the real address with just 'Jersey' to protect the recipient's privacy? Jersey is small, but not that small.
Are you sure this is real?
Kebabgate gets the first lump of meat on the skewer? And a large lump at that!
Wendy is married to Professor Brian Ashcroft and has two children. Away from politics she is a keen, if amateur, ornithologist, regarding the peace and quiet as a perfect tonic to the political world.
plenty of time soon ho ho ho happy xmas.
May I suggest that Wendy has some wiggle room. Not impossible that she will claim that her secretary signed the letter despite it being under her name. Terribly busy at the time, just a technical oversight you understand
dont understand why its for £950--not £1000
Hmm, is this letter genuine? I hope it is, obviously, but the spelling error and the missing address of the recipient are troubling.
£1000 and over have to be declared.
But this note is a forgery, and not worth the [virtual] paper it is written on.
Guido will not be able to make this stand up in court, so Wendy is home and dry.
"The Electoral Commission has been kept appraised". It is not the EC that needs appraising.
Let's hear from Dizzy. I'm sure he'll assure us (as he has in the past) how easy it would be to fake this evidence.
Poor dumb Wendy will be out by Sunday. Now who's next?
Guido, this has made my afternoon. Cheers pal.
'We will earn their trust again and get on the road for the journey back to government'.
Now begone, ye wee sleekit cow'rin tim'rous beastie!!!
It might well be a forgery. On reflection it certainly looks like one - rubbish font, oddly blurred, and dodgy 'Jersey' address.
Surely her campaign team wouldn't tell a brazen lie about only finding out about the source of the loan at 1pm yesterday knowing that a letter was out there that would be easily shown to prove the exact opposite? Innocent until proven guilty...
Whether this letter is a fake is no longer relevnt. Green has just confirmed that he received a letter of thanks from Wendy and made a second donation to Scottish Labour. Goose Cooked!!!!!
I would suspect a forgery, but Guido is presumably confident of the document's provenance.
Well if that isn't a very bad forgery she fucked. Shame I can't read it.
Hope he hasn't but it will need to be mighty genuine!
Perhaps a sunday deadtree might have the full story.
the one thing i can say in wendys defence, is that having been caught , she admitted it was wrong in quite plain language.
however i dont know if she can stay in her position.
gordon on the other hand blames harmen , and the gets straw to go to the press/media.i mean there was straw laughing and making clever jokes, about that he has never knowingly met abrahams or recieved money from him but you never know?.
someone earlier wants to know when does this go to rockinghorse central , my view is that with wendys letter , were there , we already begin to see all this cast of extras , people who we had nver heard of suddenly found to be handling lots of cash, you have to wonder dont you just what else is possible (well i can assure you there is more).
it just stinks huhnes seems to have found his stride , now durham police fancy a word. cameron is meeting the USA .
cant wait for the next installment of rockinghorse gate .
What is it with Labour women and over-sized
mouths?

In it Green says he received a thank you note from her. They don't mention Order-Order.com however.
There was a letter according to Brian Taylor of the BBC, also points out that spelling is not a good point of Labour MSPs http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/briantaylor/2007/11/personal_touch.html
Goodness, this is fun.
PA:
Here are some letters to sign. This little pile on the personal paper are thank you notes and I suggest signing a friendly "Wendy". This pile on MSP paper are case work and I suggest a full signature. They've all been checked by X. This third pile on CLP letterheads are to members who helped on the campaign. I could stamp those if you're pressed. The fourth pile are a mixed bag but are more sensitive and X advises you read them carefully. There are just 575 letters in all today. Might be a few more at going home time.
Wendy:
Phew! Only 250. Brilliant. You really are so very well organised. I don't know what I'd do without you.

There are certainly some crimes to typography in Mr GuF's forgery. Are you saying that because she is a girl she has "wedding script" on her sodding letterhead?
No need to look so glum, Wendy! When one door closes another one ...
Even though it is being opened by a grim-faced female warder.
Chris Paul is an idiot. Just because she is busy doesn't mean she doesn't take full responsibility.

If your argument is that it must be from a Scottish MSP because the spelling is bad then that seems a little tenuous...
people on here might do down the MSM but at least they check facts thoroughly... assume you will be sending Ms Alexander a suitably grovelling apology if this is a fake...
what an extremely ugly pair the brother and sister are. Parents must be very disapointed.
Looks like its Cornton Vale* for her. Some of the Bull dykes might be out off by her moustache so she might be OK
* Woman's pison just between Stirling and Bridge of Allan
Oh for f**s sake Chris Paul. I'm going to try that with my credit card company.
"Sorry, I don't recall signing your application. Pressure of work. I can't be expected to check every form I sign. That flat screen TV in the corner? I don't know how it was paid for. Faeries put it there."
Always loved this photo of her
As Ed said, Chris Paul, you muppet, whether it was prepared by someone else or not, the responsibilty rests with the person signing the document to ensure accuracy before so doing.
Therefore, if this is a real letter and I very much hope it is, it doesn't matter who prepared it so much as Wendy signed it and for that she has to resign and possibly face charges.
Yeah - but fifth of October does sound a bit like one pm yesterday!
I mean she is cute - Go on M'lud let her off this once!
Snigger.
Bwahahahaha.
Looks like the Labour astro turfers last trench of "it's a forgery" has crumbled.
And no comments about david Whitton being the Treasurer guys?
Looks like 4 by-elections could be coming up.
"We're all doomed!"
"Don't panic, Mr Mannering!"
Oh fuck off.
The US Screen Writers Guild out on strike, no new programmes on US TV and then all this comedy!
Any connections? Are the screenwriters all moonlighting over here?
All we need is Brian Rix.

She'll soon have a nice pair of shiny bracelets to go with the earrings.
Oh, yes. Jail would suit the little, slot-gobbed munt. She's been haunting the political scene in Scotland for years. Typical, PC Labour gobshite.

That picture looks heavily cropped. Who, or what, has been cut out.....?
News is that Wendy is to make a resignation statement tonight.
Not what I hear Eckmeister. She's going to tough it out and is angry.
Paul Green is, like Abrahams, a property developer. If there's any other similarity, best not to mention it. Mel Phillips will be on your case.
Another contender for Labour's worst week. Black November.
According to the BBC, she did send him a thank you letter. He's said "I cannot understand why they continued to maintain that the donation had come through a UK company when I had a letter from Wendy Alexander thanking me personally."(See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7120096.stm )
Wendy's currently riding high in second place in the Scotsgait poll on who is the best party leader. It's a shame for her that, at 4%, she's 86 percentage points behind 'Eck. (http://www.scotsgait.co.uk)
Why are we not surprised ?
Q - Why do all high-up Labour women have big mouths?
A - Ready for you now Gordon!
Come on Chris Paul, say it one more time and then it will be true
Remember,remember the month of November
Remember that the people involved in this NuLab scam are the people who think that you, the stakeholders in this country, are not fit to be trusted with the referendum on the EU constitution that they promised in their last General Election manifesto.
So that's Wendy Alexander is it? I caught something just like that in the canal the other day. Threw it back.
Blimey, a polititian that tells lies, whatever next? When I was a lad, an MP had integrity... Oh, hang on...
Heh. I meant 'politician'. It's hard to type wth claws and as for leaping around the keyboard...
