Dougie Alexander is a Liability

The damning conclusion of the Scottish Election Review, commissioned by the Electoral Commission was that ‘both the Scotland Office and the Scottish Executive were frequently focused on partisan political interests in carrying out their responsibilities, overlooking voter interests and operational realities’ and that ‘characteristic of 2007 was a notable level of party self-interest evident in Ministerial decisions-making’.

That should be a resignation issue, but if one thing is key to understanding New Labour at the highest level, it is the putting of party interest before the national interest. That is a given in all circumstances. Soldiers die because of political expediency, hospitals are photo ops, school children are leadership campaign props and spin is the narrative reality.

Dougie Alexander is Gordon's election co-ordinator, he co-ordinated the recently and expensively lost non-election, he directed the disastrous campaign that led to the loss of electoral control in Scotland by the Labour party for the first time in living memory. He writes pamphlets for think-tanks on how to win elections by turning political parties into "community hubs". In his spare time he is the Minister in charge of DFID, where he oversees electoral assistance to developing countries - beyond satire.

He is an asset to Labour's opponents and a liability to Gordon according to Labour colleagues. Hopefully Gordon will ignore the criticism because he so values Dougie's loyalty.

I don't really mind Dougie not being fired, so long as he keeps screwing up for the next couple of years and costs Labour the election in 2009.

Translation: third-world corruption?

C'mon then, how are NuLab going to justify not running straight elections?

Has Wee Dougie ever had a proper job?
(If your mortgage was at risk, would you employ him?)

Wee Dougie has long been recognised in Scotland as a career politician first and defender of the people second (no, make that eighteenth), prepared to move his principles depending on what his political masters tell him, to regularly try and defend the indefensible (can't wait to hear his waffle on this latest one) and, as evidenced very cogently by Guido, completely incompetent.

Douglas Alexander, like Brown and Balls, has no interest in promoting the interests of the British - only in perpetuating Labour's hold on power - to protect their own interests and privileges. Even worse still they are incompetent: every 'initiative' is badly conceived and never thought through: short term politicial expediency is the only objective. Immoral, incompetent. The tide of public anger is flowing fast.

We Doogie cheats over the Scottish Election.
Big Gordon cheats over the promised referendum.
Des Browne under-funds our troops.
Ali Darling robs small businesses by increasing their CGT liability at the same time as he reduces the tax liability on those MPs who have second homes funded with taxpayers money (amongst others).
Now the Scots have such a degree of autonomy, why don't the four of them go back home and leave the English to run their own affairs?

Would the very wonderful David Millband like to commnent on the integrity of the Scottish voting systems when he delivers his next lectures to the military in Burmah on making democracy work?

I cannot recall such a shambolic set of elections in the UK, nor can I remember such damning criticism of the electoral process, yet this has led to no resignations. No doubt it is someone else's fault, and that Nu Lab minsters are above reproach. The lack of ethics on this and other matters - postal and e voting is worrying.

Perhaps because most Scots hate them with a venom that even Daily Telegraph readers would find disconcerting?

Leave Wee Doogie alone. He's doing a grand job.

For the Tories. The man can lose elections that aren't even called. You really want him moved from Labour's GE co-ordinator for the real event?

You will be well aware of the dangers presented to the good and honest government of the state by the presence of a calvinist cabal.

The four pious politicians mentioned above combine a natural self-righteousness with a determination to force their foolish beliefs on the rest of us.

The Alexanders are figures of complete derision up here in Scotchland. Even the laughably pro-Labour papers have had to admit that wee Wendy has been a complete disaster as leader. Honestly, one has to question the sanity of people who thought that lippy hag would improve Labour's popularity up here. She is instantly despisable. But at least she is achieving something --- at this rate she will be remembered as one of the true architects of independence. Wee Dougy is just a bag-carrying tube. People say that a desire to be a politician should instantly exclude a person from ever becoming so. This must surely count double when you have siblings BOTH sucking, cheating and lying their way up the greasy pole. Just how important to the Alexanders believe themselves to be? String them up --- alongside the Millibands.

Wee Doogie, with his dead eyes and dead brain, is dead man walking.

He is now being referred to as Scapegoat Number 1 by other members of the Tufty Club.

It's all he deserves though isn't it?

The great thing for us Tories is that the dear leader, who we were lead to believe was a unparalleled political genius is in fact a dud, surrounded by losers.
Dougie Alexander is going to lose Brown the next election. Ed Balls is so aggressive because he can see the decade in power that is his by rights (lol) slipping away. Milliband junior is a arrogant jumped up twat and Millipede senior is busy shredding his reputation and credibility over the is-it-or-isn't-it EU constitution and non-referendum.

Mark my words things will soon get nasty if this dire crew sense that Brown my get them chucked out of power and they'll spend their finest political years in the wilderness.

Oh happy days...

Funny, nothing was said after the 2004 London mayorial election when around 17 percent of the second choice votes were binned.

www.parliament.uk/commons/ lib/research/rp2004/rp04-048.pd

Rejected votes: 1st choice: 56,862 (3.0%) 2nd choice: 329,090 (17.1%)

329,000 votes binned and not a bloody word from anybody.

Manic Street Preacher, not on the PMQs I was watching, but I did notice our charming PM being rebuked by the Speaker for use of intemperate language. If you missed the rebuke, you can always see it as the headline on BBC.

If you thought that was good, wait until Alex Salmond gets stuck into Dougie's sis tomorrow at Holyrood. I hope you all get the chance to see it.

I suppose that not even this gang would stoop to a false flag terror operation. They're good people really. They wouldn't want to accrue power to themselves in order to check our movements and thoughts, make sure we do what's best for hardworking British families. They wouldn't really stage an attack and form a government of national unity with a few stooges from Dave Wotsisname's party. That'd be almost as bad as making-up reasons to go to war on behalf of an American multinational corporation which owns the White House. And as for suspending elections while we face an unprecedented threat to whatever it is from whoever it is, well, that'd never happen in a democracy like ours.

Just can't be too careful in a changing world, though. Better safe than sorry, eh ? Can you get me that John Scarlett on the phone; he owes us, big time

Why should Doug Alexander carry the can? He was only acting on Gordon Brown's orders and all those in the Labour party calling for Doug's head would do well to remember that.

Don't forget "lessons will be learnt", a phrase I first heard after the Maria Colwell case, all of 34 years ago.

Strange you never hear them say, "I and my whole department are incompetent wankers and we hereby resign, renouncing our pension rights as we do so."

Yes, perhaps Guido should expand his literary skills by compiling a book of such weasel phrases. If he numbered them then, when listening to a minister adding to the world CO2 levels with plenty of hot-wind, we could say "Oh tish, he's using no. 43 again, what a tos*er"

It is worth taking a few moments to consider the monumental implications of the fact that the UK has a senior Cabinet Minister who rigged an election yet still managed to lose.

Seriously, think about it for a while.
