There are comments in support of Lomborg and against. I posted that it is better to replace fossil fuels with realistic alternatives (nuclear fission today, nuclear fusion tommorrow, etc) than using government coercion. One of those who supported coercion and opposed me (MikeB comment #100) said this, "As Al Capone once said, 'You can get much further with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.'" That floored me!
Posters who acknowleged manmade causes of global warming but advocated alternate energy over coercion were vilified.
A good example of the thuggish attitude of Gaians.
I'm all for it just as long as they sign a waiver to forego any state-funded benefits for pensioners and the elderly. Don't get any pension tax credits. Take out an insurance policy to ensure their mortal remains are dealt with. And realise that their no-kids tax credit can be used to compensate the families of other people's children who are maimed or killed in the line of duty protecting their asses.

OT, but on a parallel theme of economic redistribution: my guess is all this sub-prime lending (supported by the fed govt/cities for spurious PC reasons - 'becos dey's black') to those trying to climb out of the projects, but who are maybe not the sharpest capitalists on the block, and who were never going to manage the real mortgage rate charged at the end of the fixed term.
So then the banks/lenders planned in advance to foreclose and repossess.
But ohmyGod! - the value of the house has gone DOWN. Otherwise the lenders wouldn't give a toss.
So this is not about bailing out sub-prime borrowers, but compensating sub-prime banks/lenders for betting the wrong way in a chillingly cynical and cruel tax-avoidance lending scam.
And all done with all our taxes - worldwide, as the debt was then sold on.
And the villains can't be found.

I can forsee one teeny problem with a weight based tax posh spice who is loaded pays nothing and all the rich people will be in hospital having bits lopped off for tax reasons food shops will go bust even air crashes will be worse cos u can get more thinner people on a plane.

In case you don't know, the replacement rate (i.e. leaving as many people of your ilk on this world as you found) is at least 2.1 children per woman and rising. That means you need to give each woman dedicated to you at least 3 children before you can claim to be fertile.

You claim to give credence to man-made global warming. But what makes you so sure there is a “solution” to it any more than there is a “solution” to all the other problems of human greed and stupidity?
