Guardian Front page Cock-Up 'Fess Up

Now this is what Guido calls a cavalier attitude to the facts:

Corrections and clarifications
A chart showing David Cameron's personal rating in a Guardian/ICM poll (front page, yesterday) contained several mistakes. It did not include those voters who said they liked both David Cameron and the Conservative party, and muddled some other figures. The correct figures are: likes Cameron, but not the party, 18%; likes Cameron and the party, 25%; doesn't like Cameron, but does like the party, 26%; don't know, 26%. Five per cent refused to answer. Voters were not asked if they did not like both Cameron and the party. We did not make clear that the chart showed figures for all voters, not just Conservative voters.
Just to remind you, the front page graphic showed no-one liking Dave and the Tories. Wishful thinking...

Does it matter what the Guardian prints?

All this speculation about Lord Levy's alleged porno-actress 'mate' Courtney Coventry's antecedents is a pile of wotsits- all you have to do is to Google a little to see that she is the genuine buddy of seriously-antique Botox Babe Hollywood slapper Mamie Van Doren and yes, she did indeed attend Hugh Hefner party (rather a sedate one I reckon). And look at those pics closely - she's clearly closer to 45 than to 25 and there's no porn producer outside of the granny market who would ever use her.

"No cameras are allowed at Hef's parties anymore, so here's the dish: It was a grand and glamorous crowd there to chase away the 2004 blues and welcome in the joys of 2005. There was our host, Hef, looking dapper and handsome as ever, my dearest Julie Strain and her husband Kevin Eastman, my partner in crime, Skip E. Lowe, friends the Count and Countess Rozell (John and Courtney Coventry), Bill Mahr, still pretending to be Bill Mahr, Devin Devasquez, Lorenzo Lamas and wife, and all the glitterati of the Hollywood scene. Be assured that we delivered the baby 2005 in fine style with hopes for peace and good will. May all of you have a grand and prosperous 2005!"

Now that's what I call an incisive political argument.

I have just come in from a country walk during which I heard some sheep bleating. "Baaa!" one exclaimed, to which I replied "Sounds reasonable." Then another cried "Baahhaaaa!", and I must say I was moved to say under my breath "I may not agree with everything you bleat, but I defend to the death your right to bleat it."

There are so many trolls that read this blog, it's getting quite funny.

Do they have nothing else to do?

I used think that these trolls are all young students with nothing else to do, but the sad thing is they aren't !!

Brown is doing well because few people know what he is really like. It would be interesting to see what the poll results in six months' time are, and I doubt an election will take place before then. Labour is skint...

The Guardian? My local newspaper sells more than that and it contains about the same amount of news as it happens. None.

How many adverts did nulab place this week to keep it afloat?

I see that Teflon Tony's goodbye tour only cost the British taxpayer 1.5 Million Pounds. I'm also sure that he also used to turn off the light when he left the Cabinet Room.

Coventry said she met a Labour official "at the Labour Head Offices at Millbank London in 2004."

Labour left Millbank in 2002.

You wonder how a quality journal like Auto Trader, handles the stigma of being associated with such a seriously flawed rag.
The inmates are pulling out all the stops to protect their particular pork barrel - what chance of a new administration wanting to see public sector appointments advertised in quality large circulation publications ?

The media have lost it recently.

All opinion polls are putting Brown over 40% and other parties at around 10%. They are ignoring the BNP surge which is nationally over 5% and possibly around 10%. They have opened branches in 500 constituencies.

In Sedgefield BNP got 9%, which all seemd to come out Labour - down 14% - as Conservative levels held and Lib Dem rose.

Brown's aware of the threat to his vote by the BNP. He's talking about 'British jobs for British workers' and repatriating illegal immigrants (fat chance). But the media are not only blanking the BNP as a story. Their votes are also ignored in polling and added back to Gordon Brown.

We don't need apologies from the Guardian. We need the truth.

No matter how many anagram solvers I have used but I STILL can not get it to interpret "Polly Toynbee". Am I doing something wrong?

Mr Horrocks's capacity for rational thought seems to have underdone a sad decline since he successfully predicted the next transit of Venus.

I don't read the guardian said...

I am actually someone who doesn't like David Cameron or the Tories so can understand the 26%, but its a matter of opinion. It beggers believe though that there would be NO-ONE that likes both Dave & the Tory party at the same time. It would be a statistical impossibility (barring any recent disclosure of genuine henious acts by either, and I am not aware of any since Maggie was dethroned). So why did the Guardian actually think that the figures they had were correct? They are either stupid (editor, "it's alright, no one will notice"), or blinded by desperation for any bad news about the Tories. Very dissapointing eitherway.

I was in a poll by ICM this week — never been called before so thought I'd see how they worked.

One thing that got to me was that the questions were:

1. Do you like David Cameron and the Conservative Party?
2. Do you like David Cameron, but not the Conservative Party?
3. Do you not like David Cameron, but do like the Conservative Party?

Three options. When I said I didn't like David Cameron OR the Conservative Party, the guy said that would have to go in "don't know".

What a joke. This happened with all three leaders and their parties.

The Gordian 's devotion to Gordon is ruining the paper. Their gushing and grovelling paeans of praise to the wise leader are becoming more obvious and unconvincing. They owe their readers some responsible scepticism not fanzine inanity and credulouness.

Correct: immigrants do represent the 'energy reserve' of Britain - and there's little chance of this lazy nation getting up off its fat arse and working any of it off.
