Punters Back Reid to Run

As the dire electoral performance drives home to the less lemming-like members of the Labour party the actual value of Gordon, money has shifted over to Reid on Betfair. The graph shows how the price has come in over the last five days. Guido is frankly not convinced that Reid is willing to do battle with the dark forces.

Guido still has a few quid on John Hutton just in case he tries a Kamikaze battle of "ideas" with the man he said "would make a fucking useless PM". 300/1 seems fair...

UPDATE :
Don't bother with Hutton - he has given an interview to GMTV for broadcast tomorrow where he bends the knee and pledges allegiance to Gordon.

With Brown still in hiding and reported to be showing signs of "cracking up" after the election debacle there is still all to play for in the leadership contest.

Now this crowd of muffins have had their cumuppance ,I waiting to see if the Old Labour ones are brave enough to take back power ,otherwise if they let these people carry on ,it will be bye bye labour.

Somebody must run against Gordon.

He's supposed to be the next PM and Labour leader, yet instead of rallying his troops Gordon has vanished.

Prime Ministers cannot go into hiding whenever it suits them, they are there to represent their country through thick and thin, through good times and bad. Gordon's regular disappearing tricks show how unsuited to the job he really is.

As the hours tick by Gordon is committing political suicide.

All those people who worked for him during the election. All those in the cabinet who will support him. All those people who have put faith in him to take over their party. All those people in the Country who will rely on him.

The first hour after an accident are the most important. It's now 24 hours and not a squeak.

He is incapacitated by something that Tony Blair can just shrug off.

Incapacitated by a heart attack, nervous breakdown, blind drunk or fear? It matters not in their hour of need Gordon isn't there.

The irony is that Labour know Gordon is a vote loser and can't do **** all about it .The more Gordon keeps having to boost his image in Scotland to counter SNP agitation, the more his image will suffer with voters in Middle England who already hate his guts for losing them their pensions . The scenario of a Scottish Prime Minister who represents a Scottish Constituency passing laws ,with the help of the Scottish "Block Vote" ,that will only affect the "Auld Enemy" is not gonna play well south of the border.

Money on Reid is money well spent.

What I don't understand is there is some positive news in Scotland for Labour. The gap in the polls closed dramatically.

Why isn't Gordon saying we are disappointed but we closed a huge gap and are only down to one seat.

Not coming out to thank the Scottish Labour foot-soliders and his lack of gratitude today means that nobody in their right mind is going to want to help him out of a losing situation because he won't thank them.

Gracious in defeat? His behaviour just reinforces the odds that he is psychologically flawed.

He has been incapacitated by suicide, break-down, a heart attack, nervous break-down or worst of all simple fear.

I saw him down the clinic last night mate

when the big baby realized his campaign had been an utterly disgraceful shambles

he went on a supermanic mucus binge and OD'd on a particularly potent form called snottish wipe-out

he's gonna be in detox for a few days minimum, i hear

i said i could get hold of some charlie for him, but he's only interested in highest-grade uncut bogey

he's even started to backsnort it direct into his system

quite sickening to observe actually

and man...coz he's already trashed the entire UK budget importing green from desperately impoverished places like Bogata,

he's now had to resnort to blowing libdem mps on hampstead heath just to raise enough dough to feed this fucking bad habit of his

and he's even sold his prized collection of antique figurines sculpted from early Roman earwax

he's a broken man

and there's fears he could end p getting into the 'crack'

and say what...much as i despise his politics...on a personal level, i feel real sorry for the poor sad cunt.

The whole sordid experience brought home to me just how lucky i really am.

I said some weeks back that Brown would never make PM, after the outcome of the locals. My take is that the only way to get out of their hole is for the Labour Party to go for a safe pair of hands as caretaker PM, while the young guns are given 18-24 months to do an extended interview with the party and the people. A sort of "PM Idol" - a format so loved by the chavs.

So who is my money on as the next PM? Jack Straw...

Even the Beeb, in one of their statements (which quite rightly made Iain Dale weep), had to admit that Gordon was nowhere to be seen, to 'let Blair take the flak one more time...'

I wonder how many others he will hide behind when he has to begin his next job.

This is indeed a frightening prospect, such a weak man becoming an even weaker leader.

If Brown wanted to prevent his party from being torn apart by a contest and subsequent score-settling or by the whispering campaign which would follow a coronation he would announce that while he would quite like the job, in the interests of the party he is not going to stand.

That sort of surprise would allow the party to unite behind whoever won the contest and get them a hell of a lot of favourable press.

But he won't, of course, because he is a manic-depressive megalomaniac.

Rumours are strengthening within certain Labour Party circles that Brown has taken the election debacle very badly and is undergoing some sort of breakdown up in his home in Fife.

If he can't pull himself together soon then my money's on Jack Straw to take over from Tony as a sort of "unity candidate".

However, some of these doctors can work wonders these days with the old magic pills so I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown's cheesy grin back on telly next week but watch for a strange, faraway look in his eye(s).

How long they can prop him up for before his next serious depressive episode though, is anybody's guess.

Brown's usual strategy at a time like this is to record a soft interview with Patsy Marr on Saturday evening to appear on TV on Sunday morning after 8 hours of careful editing to make him look statesmanlike.

Reid doesn't have the backup at Westminster, so even if he won it, it would be a Pyrrhic victory, and he'd be battling his own side all the time.

Jack Straw would be another John Major and would bore the electorate to death within 3 months.

Brown would be a disaster both for Labour and the country.

Things can only get better!

stand up against Brown for pm said...

Brown is chronically unable to deal with any opposition whatsoever. He either uses bully boy tactics to crush it or, if unable to do that, he runs away and hides. Classic bully behaviour.

If someone with an ounce of substance stood up and took him on in the leadership contest then Brown would crack up completely.

After his pathetic disappearance since the election failure I wouldn't be surprised to see the Blairite's renew their efforts to stop Brown taking over.

Stand up to a bully like Brown and you will beat him.

A counter-view...

Brown isn't PM yet. Why should he waste energy on things now, when he hasn't got control for another two months? He's biding his time. No elections for ages. The hero always turns up in time and saves the day in the final reel. 'Make 'em wait for it'...Sure, the SNP won by a seat. Let them explain to their activists how they'll manage to get a referendum bill through a parliament with a huge majority against it. Salmond may not even be able to form a government.

As Michael Winner might say: "Calm down, dear, it's only a narrow SNP victory with no majority..."

If brown is so useless, why did Blair staple himself to him during the '05 election? if he's so useless, why do so many self-interested Labour MPs support him? False consciousness? If he's such a paper tiger, why has no-one of any substance run aginst him? if he's so useless, why did he destroy Osborne in the Commons a few weeks ago, and wing Ken Clarke in the same debate?

I'm not necessarily speaking in his favour, but before you posters get high on your own supply of rhetoric, answer those questions first, candidly.

Brown is useless in debates, can't take criticism, can't tolerate opposition, bullies, manipulates, is sly, underhand and cowardly and surrounds himself with a small coterie of sycophants willing to do his dirty work.

He creates the myth of a strong economy by inflating the money supply by 14%pa, increases Govt borrowing and taxation to record levels, Govt spending to record levels, Govt debt to record levels, record trade deficit, record consumer debt. The UK economy is creaking and will soon be falling apart at the seams but Brown hopes to be in No. 10 by then and his successor will have to explain the economic meltdown.

That's if poor, fragile, Gordon hasn't completely cracked up by then like most self-obsessed, deranged contol freaks end up doing.

The whole idear of socialism is the eventual destruction of free market capitalism. The only debate socialists have is the method and speed of that destruction.

Less then 3 months after Tony Blair leaves. Even the unemployable will be begging for him to come back and save them.

JOIN THE PROTEST AGAINST GORDON BROWN IN BRIGHTON MAY 13th.
(That's if he has the bottle to show his face)

The date: Sunday 13th May
The time: 2.30pm
The place: Outside the Brighton Dome Concert Hall, Church Street, Brighton

Frustrated first time buyers are organising a protest in order to highlight the housing affordability crisis that is gripping the nation.
Organised by Priced Out, a web-based campaign group for affordable house prices, the protest aims to highlight the negative impacts of high house prices in 'property hotspots' such as Brighton...

Why are we taking our protest to Gordon Brown?

'I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of the recovery.' - Gordon Brown in 1997 Budget Speech..

"Despite the Chancellor's stated intention to keep a tight rein on house prices, they have trebled during his tenure. According to the Halifax, prices are now unaffordable for first time buyers in 75% of UK towns; the situation in Brighton is particularly bad....

Even his former allies in the Observer now recognise the disaster just around the corner:

Does some young Eton boy toff have the luck, the balls and the mind to at least try to finish the job?

I honestly dont know the answer to that question any better then anyone else does. However even if he does, whether there is enough prolls left in Britain that give a sod by then? Is another question.
