Downing Street Sore Losers Ignore Scotland

Tony Blair has congratulated Rhodri Morgan in Wales. The Queen even went to Scotland to meet and greet the new Scottish First Minister. The Irish PM, Bertie Ahern, has found time out from negotiating his coalition to also congratulate Alex Salmond.

Gordon, ever the sore loser, has not had the grace to congratulate his winning opponent. So his own home constituency is no longer in Labour hands, his own country is no longer in Labour hands for the first time in half-a-century, but is that any reason to be so grumpy and graceless? He will have to work with the SNP when he is PM. Whatever happened to his new politics, humbly listening to the people?

guido, what happened to the peados, i mean pd's? i greatly doubt your political savvy. labour lost scotland because of blair, and an overarching optimism of being able to "go it alone" bore out of frustration with an anglo-labour party dominating national events.

we all know salmond has to say what the snp will do, which means they'll have to say whether they are left or right. we all know salmond and his kin are kilt wearing tartan tories. i give him one term, then gan for good.

scots will see that being poor scottish and british, is not as bad as being even poorer, and just scottish.

He's listening.
But he doesn't like what he's hearing.
Therefore it must be wrong and he can safely ignore it.

I reckon Gordo must be crapping his Kecks. If Salmond does only a half decent job then Gordo stands a real chance of not being re-elected at the next Election.

It's not as if they could give him a safe seat South of the border.

Anonymous at 2:55pm - 'Tartan Tories'? It seems we have an embittered Scottish Labourite posting decades out of date smear-language to the Guy Fawkes blog...

I wonder if he will continue with the PM's monthly press conference. I do not think he could handle a scenario where he has not set the agenda.

hey be fair Guido man

Blair and Brown have to go round the world sucking up to Gadaffi Adams and McGuinness ...

how can they find time to phone Salmond a man who puts them both in the shade and whose very existence reminds them of their own shortcomings

chatterbox said...

Surprised that this oversight/bloody minded rudeness has been largely ignored by the press down South. Brown said he would not work with the Salmond and the SNP if they were the biggest party in Holyrood before the elections. Says a lot about the man who would be the next PM that he will only "talk" to the favoured few who share his point of view, politics and party affiliation. Nobody should be surprised this type of behaviour from Brown is well documented.

The prospect of 3 yrs of the dour jock as PM fills me will gloom. The only bright spot on the horizon is when he gets booted whenever he calls an election. Like John Major he will hang on and hang on hoping for better news that never comes.

I agree, I'm betting he'll try and abolish PMQ's too.

I wonder whether there's a new game to replace the sadly defunct "Where's Gordon"TM.

It could be sort of predictive based on the first 100 days.

eg

Day 1 -- First purge.

Day 2 -- Labour Party Deputy position abolished.

Day 3 -- PMQ's abolished.

Day 4 -- Miras reintroduced for first time eco house purhasers at 10% tax rate for 2007/08 only.

Day 5 -- Blair blamed for Iraq war.

Day 6 -- Kinnock appointed to ----

Day 7 -- Cohen appointed as.....

Day 8 -- Charity rules to be ammended to cater forchanges with regard to research institutes.

Day 9 -- PFI to be extended to cover Armed forces expenditure on "delivery systems"

Day 10 -- Royal commission to be set up to report on devolution and voting systems in N Ireland, Wales & Scotland.

Day 11 -- Internet regulation consultation paper published.

etc etc

A working title of "OHHHH Gordon!" is proposed at this stage.

Betfair to be briefed.

rubbish, gordon did congratulate salmond in his speech after mp's nominations closed

I reckon Brown will re-introduce MIRAS, initailly to 1st time buyers, but via the (prefectly) complex and open to overpayment Tax Credits system, allowing him to gain a greater control of the housing market, through continual adjustment of rates and those eligible.

Control freak at 4.29. I seem to remember Gordon saying in an interview that he would attend PMQs "when his family commitments allow." What are the chances of him uses his family as an excuse to duck out of any engagement he doesn't feel like facing?

property snake said...

House prices will have crashed before Brown gets round to any sort of MIRAS scheme. You can't buck a grossly over-leveraged market and this bubble's due to burst with a vengeance taking Brown's reputation with it.

Anons -

you are fucking liars, Salmond was never congratulated by Brown.

Even a pro-union rag like the Scotsman has stated as much. Why are Labour supporters such liars? is it because only the unemployed and on benefits see any virtue in Labour, who pay them to be idle?

Brown is a fucking gay rocking-horse loving huffy prick and the sooner he's out of office, the better. I don't think Cameron will be much better mind you but hopefully by then Scotland will be independent.

You want our oil, come invade us ya pricks!!!!

Street Urchin said...

Gordon looked a sad figure on BBC Reporting Scotland last night- mean and small minded even those who never speak politics are speaking about it on the street today as if it was a major football match.

The general feeling is Gordon has sent more to vote SNP than Alex Salmond ever could

Now now the English are nice people. They know they have done well from our oil. Remember London will have the biggest deficit in Europe this year according to yesterday's times minus another £12 billion without Scotland.

but oil subsidies lead to inefficiency better that we all stand on our own 2 feet

Gordon is a pretty boy
He's got a touch of "clarse!"
And every time he needs some joy
He rides his "rocking arse!"

and sucks his thumb and picks his snot for added pleasure!!!

Anymong 4:35. how many kinds of fuckwit are you??? Can't you see the difference between congratulating in a speech and actually calling a guy to say congratulations?? One is unconstrained spin to try and look statesmanlike, the other is truly statesmanlike. Brown the clown has failed his first statesman test with a resounding D-. What a chippy little cunt he is.

Guys I cannot believe that you lay down in England and let Tony's cronies impose tax after tax on you.

I mean for fucks sake the taxings a joke! Taxed to drive, taxed for rubbish, taxed for litter, taxed for having a nice house...

Where do you draw the line??

Brown aint any different chaps. I'm from his neck of the woods and he's not one of our own - honest Fifer my arse.

In fact I will libel him here:

Gordon Brown MP you are a fucking moody, mincing cunt who never had sexual relations with a woman until 50 years of age, and a backstabbing little prick who has an army of civil servants sucking your cock.

I swear I will never vote Labour and I also swear if ever a civil war starts I'll be fucking front line to string you up!!!

PS Security services - you can get better than minimum wage working in McDs. Cheerskthxbye

Scotland, Wales, & Eire no longer governed with a majority
For once we proud mightly English will be following the trend set in these blasted awful Celtic states when we have a hung Parliament in 2009.
Gordon bears so many grudges & disturbing petty dislikes he couldn't work with the Lib Dems for more than a year.
Then we get a Tory govermnent wiht a majority of 50 odd in the following election.
Everything depends upon the Lib Desm sticking with Ming the dessicated.
If they get a proper leader or at least one who isn't almost dead, they'll stop the Conservative revival.
So remember yoghurt knitters if you want a slice of power for a year, well at least responsibility for the paper clips keep Ming in post please.

All joking aside (just for a moment anyway), it is more than odd that our leaders act in such a spitful, unprofessional, bitter, twisted, arrogant (select as appropriate)way. Surely our "great" leaders are above this? Surely they would not directly or indirectly cause detriment to the Scottish electorate just to spite the SNP?
Ok, back to the jokes.....

Has Mr Salmond ever considered a franchise running a party south of the border? So far he seems to have done pretty well in capturing the northern market and given the market leaders NuTescoburyLabs a nasty poke in the eye.

Any southern franchise would have to have another name and offer a distinctive service for regional consumers of government services, but southern consumers have shown time after time that they don't mind where chaps comes from, so long as they do the job properly once they get here.

At any rate, Mr Salmond shouldn't take it personally that Mr Brown hasn't been over to welcome him in to the new house; Mr Brown has not spoken to his own voters and showed only minimal interest when it was suggested that he could possibly be burned in effigy a the next Basildon and District Firework Party if he lets this HIPs stuff go through and makes all the pensioners going in to sheltered accommodation £1000 poorer than they might otherwise have been. (If they can sell at all, what with the crashing bubble that's due. Can a bubble crash?)

Judging by the video, a phone call from GB would be as pleasant as a cold-caller when one is in the bath, so Mr Salmond should go and have a laugh with the Queen, and instruct his office to save the stamp on the Christmas card by just not sending any to Downing Street.

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't Salmond just ring Gordo and congratulate him 'as one Prime Minister to another' on Gordo's 'luck' in getting the top job in...Westminster, despite the lack of a comparable election?

That telly clip was very revealing: we have a vindictive, paranoid manic-depressive as our next PM.

Great.

Salmond is probably just laughing. But what happens when Gordo behaves like that to Sarkozy or Merkel, or Bush? Or the Queen?
