Cheeky Question for the Cheeky Chappie
Overlooked in the rumpus about Alan Johnson, on Question Time last night, attacking Maggie Hodge over her "racialising housing" stance, was an unanswered question. Towards the end of the show the discussion turned towards how Prescott had disgraced the office of the DPM. Most of the panel and the audience thought he had diminished the office of DPM. Johnson loyally defended Prezza. Someone asked rhetorically of the good looking, eyes sparkling, not unattractive to women, candidate for Prezza's job, "if he won, would he shag his secretary?" Johnson grimaced without replying. It was a rhetorical question, wasn't it?

Jon Cruddas on the Today programme this morning made it quite clear he believes immigrants (who tell tailor-made lies about their circumstances in order to gain advantage) should take precedence over the indiginous population in housing allocation.

Margaret Hodge is merely being pragmatic and reflecting what is a key concern of the white working class voters, usually staunchly Labour i.e perceived influx of immigrants into the area who are taking those unskilled jobs usually the preserve of the indigenous workforce. She's worried about the actual possibility of losing the seat as her's and Labour's support in Barking is under serious strains from the BNP and she feels she needs to "echo" the concerns of her constituents to counter this threat. People may not like it but the BNP is making strong inroads into the the "traditional working class" vote and just ignoring the issue of immigration is not going to make their threat go away - just the opposite. There needs to be a proper informed debate about the pressure caused by immigration mainly from the new accession countries without people always playing the "race card."
The UK owes non-citizens NOTHING.

On question time last night Johnson pointed out that the contest is for deputy leader of the labour party not deputy prime minister. He said it was up to the prime minister to decide if he actually wanted a deputy prime minister.

I'm curious about the language used here. I do understand that prurience is essentially a British thing but do we have to be so graphic? Is there absolutely no way that we can say what we need without the swearing and cussing?
