Browne Resigns Amid Rumours of Gay Kiss and Tell

Peter Mandelson and his Reinaldo feature in the story too...

The story on the Smells on Sunday website next to the Browne story:

"Have the Cruises persuaded Posh to take up scientology?
Victoria Beckham has apparently agreed to study Scientology, it has been claimed. Her decision comes after relations with new friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes cooled over the Beckhams' apparent lack of interest in the religion"

Poor Posh, she'd only recently learned to spell MAMMON.

BrownE and Brown have always been close. How close? Time and some of the MoS money may tell.

For about 3 seconds my heart leapt! and then, damn it, I read the story.

Not Only is Mandelson in the story, so is Blair.

"Browne, a close friend of Tony Blair, may now face a charge of perjury, and possibly jail."

"• Tony Blair discussed with Lord Browne his plans after he steps down as prime minister at a dinner on 8 June 2005, arranged by the former Downing Street gatekeeper Anji Hunter, who"

Blair Browne and Mandelson

As anonymous 4.35 I read the headline and my old ticker missed a beat....fucking hell I thought, Brown, Mandy and Reinaldo in a love triangle. My dissapointment to find its only the CEO of BP.

Who gives a toss? He can shag goats as far as I'm concerned...

Guido are you trying to futher the rumor of the Gordon Brown / Mandy gay tryst, with MI5 having the offending pictures...

The Hitch said...

I dont see where the story is.
He is a business man not a hypocritical politician , I know Im hardly the most liberal of people but I think that this is just rotten ,why humilliate the man , if he wanted to be out he would have done it himself, it serves no use other than to titilate.
What with all this support for Gordon Brown and now this ,plus their reporters stalking me ,I think I may just go back to the Telegraph.

Sorry, but all this makes me think is what a nasty little piece of work that Chevalier (ha! the irony) man is

What's the problem? None as long as they aren't lying about it or leaving themselves open to blackmail.

Times on line say " The former boyfriend has also claimed that Lord Browne used his links with Downing Street to benefit the company."
That is why it is a story

Delicious!

The Will Hutton/Polly Toynbee Axis of Drivel will rejoice at the defenestration (oh, look it up) of arch-globaliser, climate-changer, anti-Christ John Browne.

Then they'll start whining and agonising about homophobia driving a blameless person out of work because of his private life.

Loads of contortions until they disappear up someone's fundamental orifice. As it were.

By nightfall, George Bush will be to blame. As usual.

CarlottaVance said...

From the judgement:

There was another dinner with the Claimant, Mr Chevalier, Ms Hunter, Peter Mandelson and the latter’s Brazilian boyfriend at the time (referred to as “Reinaldo”), which was held at one of the Claimant’s homes,

Mandelson's boyfriend at the time - so now he's past tense......?

Julian said...

But in his witness statement he said had met Mr Chevalier by chance while exercising in Battersea Park.

Glad to see they've moved up a tad from Clapham Common lavatories

It's not being gay that's the issue - it's pretending you're not and therefore implying being gay is a problem.

According to Radio 4 PM

The injunction is on a business story allegedly about a conversation between BP Browne and Chancellor Brown

Casual Observer said...

Now Lord Browne could be free to be next PM. He'd make a much better job of it than Buggins ever will...

I hope the whistle blower meets a very sticky end.

Mr The Hitch -

perhaps you'd better make sure you have some more clothes on the next time Peter Hitchens comes calling.

This is a sad end to a fantastic career. Lord Browne has been a brilliant ceo and has created tremendous value for his shareholders. It's a real shame for it to end like this.

Can we get past the Browne has done a great job propaganda, please?

(1) er, the oil price has gone up rather a lot - BP would have done pretty well under any CEO

but, in fact,

(2) BP has underperformed the world oil index by around 30% over the past 10 years - so Browne has underperformed his peers

Anonymous said...

I've never personally felt any desire to shag another man, but can someone please explain in language I can understand why being gay disqualifies someone from running an oil major? I don't see it.

CarlottaVance said...

5.56 It does not. What does is telling lies to the Court (even if you retract them within a fortnight) and having a judge accuse you of attempting to 'trash the reputation' of your former partner. This started as a business story - Browne has brought this upon himself by lieing to the court - it would have ended up the same if his former partner was a woman.

Anonymous said...

well well well Brooon and Mandy...

Observer said...

So what does Mr Anji Hunter aka Bunter Boulton have to say ? Didn't Reinaldo get a student visa so Brazil would not have to embrace him back ?

Now Browne's concubine gets a Student Visa to avoid deportation....isn't that what those language colleges sell to Nigerians....student visas to extend expired permits ?

So I wonder what kind of meetings Anji arranged for BP Browne and Bobby and Gordo....and Cool Tony.....did they discuss Sakhalin ?

What other arrangements did they have apart from putting Anji on £250.000 - how many other deals were cut with EU Commissioner Peter Sutherland as he perambulated through Goldman and BP ?

The Hitch said...

No wonder Nulabour are building more Prisons, they are fast becoming the number one potential customer.

Mr Hitch..Why do you always fall into the trap of adopting a rational line of arguement with JHL?
There are many adjectives that could be used for people who have a propensity for taking hatchets to little old ladies but I wouldn't have thought rational was one of them.
So next time please try to adopt the mindset of a self justifying moronic imbecile before answering. I'm sure you'll find it works better.

The fact that Brown & Blair talk to the CEO of one of Britain’s biggest companies should be no surprise. Oil firms are not ‘clean’ in any sense of the word.

If you wanted to criticise the Great Economic Illusionist’s record on oil, you might want to read Chevron’s CEO, David O’Reilly, comments about Brown’s taxation of North Sea oil revenues and the impact it had; ‘worse than Chavez’.

With the oil majors being scared away, even economic luddites like the SNP, might appreciate the impact having only low-tech ‘wildcatters’ prepared to run the fields have on long-term revenues.

Finally, on subject of energy policy, you might want to look at those ‘asset sales’ so beloved by treasury. S+d the loss on gold sales, why was Westinghouse Electric sold? Work out the present value of that piece of economic genius

Guido, there's a spelling mistake in this post - you've added an extra E to the chancellor's name.

Few CEOs weould survive regardless of sexual preference, if it appears that they were misusing company funds, abusing their position as CEO and purjurying themselves in court.

Browne would have not reached the top if he was short of ability, the timing of the story is interesting especially if there is more on nulab sleeze which could bugger up Blair's succession.

Try Islamophobia if you wish to appear an up to date member of the sanctimonious classes,or better still be on the cutting edge and invent a brand new phobia.I am sure this is just what the country needs.

On Browne:

I'm not sure it was ONLY his private life he was trying to protect.

The other aspect of the story - which the judge has said has to remain private - is the details of the conversations at the cosy dinners Browne and this guy had with Blair, Mandelson and so on. That might have been quite interesting to hear about, don't you think?

Daily Inquirer said...

Is Browne a "People's Peer" or a "People's Princess" ?

Anonymous said...

I doubt those conversations will remain private for ever. The MoS has been prevented from reporting them, but, purely hypothetically, what if the information were to mysteriously find its way into the hands of the UK premier political blogger ?

Then again, Iain Dale hasn't shown much interest in the story so far..

Nothing whatsoever to do with this story, but I got an interesting leaflet from UKIP through my door yesterday. The bulk of it was about the undemocratic, taxpayer funded regional assemblies that already exist in England, such as the South East's in Guildford. But I discovered that if the EU's INTERREG IIIa Programme goes ahead, I'm going to be in France, not Kent. I thought this might be of interest to Guido fans.

Don't know about 'homophobia', but there seems to be a fair bit of NuLabophobia and Broonophobia ... oh, sorry, they can't be phobias, they're rational fears.

A couple of things

Does BP stand for backing puffs

&

Listened to today and the way they spun this. A reasonable mistake to make that has cost him dear.

He has committed perjury and gets his boyfriends from "escort" agencies.
Its been widely known he is gay for years, he apparently took this bloke on business trips.
I imagine the furory over other public figures if they committed perjury and allegedly used prostitutes. This is worse than the Archer saga ( he only paid one off allegedly)

Why is there an injunction on publication of correspondence between Lord Browne and Gordon Brown? And why are Mandelson. Reinaldo, and A N OtherGays involved?

There's a real can of worms out there

Will Gay Gordon order the Queen to strip Gay Lord Browne of his peerage due to perjury ?

Crustyoldbloke said...

When will these people start telling the truth? Of course he is gay, he even looks gay - it's obvious, but why lie about it? That's the sin and as such should not only have his peerage removed, but he should face charges for perjury and the prison sentence that goes with it.

Will it happen? Of course it won't, not in this two-tier society of ours.

I believe the court explained they progressed to discussing 'Chinese textile quotas'. Depressingly for Reinaldo & Jeff, this was probably true. The powerful are often convinced their conversation exerts an aphrodisiac effect, but actually if you stare in to their eyes whilst they discuss classical endogenous growth theory or proposed voting procedures in accession states, you can feel the will to live slipping away. The boys were damn lucky to make it out of there without their brains dribbling out of their ears. And I do mean ears. Why do you think these people have to resort to escort agencies in the first place?
