Ciao Tutto da Venezia

Am away for the weekend and forgot to put comment moderation on. You-know-who posts five comments on one post - then cries "he deleted me" when the inevitable happens. Iain has now banned him as well, so he is starting an anti-Iain Dale blog to join his anti-Guido blog. That is fine by me, freedom of speech means he is entitled to publish his views.

The difference in audience size enjoyed by the likes of Iain and Guido compared to the contributors to our respective anti-blogs is growing. Now readers will know that Guido, like Iain, is a humble type, shy and retiring even, so it is with some hesitation that Guido ventures to say that the reason Iain and Guido have far more readers is that we try to be entertaining and bring news. Now Guido may only aspire to gossip and tittle-tattle (over 80,000 people have watched the Gordon the Bogeyman story), but that seems to be what people want and enjoy.

It may not be what others think Guido should write about, it may not be in the deferential style that others think should be employed, it certainly gets up the noses of the old media and the embedded-in-the-political-system journalists known as the Lobby. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Simple. Better still, offer a more compelling and attractive product that beats Guido in the competitive marketplace that is the blogosphere. That takes hard work. The easier path is just to call for censorship or attack and try to undermine the legitimacy of your rivals. Claim that Iain and Guido's ascendancy is not based on hard work or talent, but lies and fiction, claim that the two most successful and well known bloggers in Britain somehow undermine blogging. We have done so much to popularise this medium - it is not going to wash. Blogging is just an easy way of publishing, it is a software platform, not a religious movement. Get real.

The new anti-Iain blog is in a sense a tribute blog and further evidence that the contributors have a poverty of ideas. They would enjoy more success if they tried something less derivative and more novel. Meantime Dizzy wants an anti-blog as well. You're no one daahhling, if you haven't got one.

I was just thinking you know who's behaviour is typically left-wing - bossy, controlling, interfering and generally annoying. Just like the kid in the playground who always got beaten up by the popular kids for being a twat and now wants revenge.

Guido, I hope you get the wimmin's lib gondolier. She'll give you a good talking-to (in German).

Totally agree. The blogosphere is partly for voices that the mainstream media have almost succeeded in snuffing out, that's why they are so anti.I would not at this stage rule out future attempts to control this sector by the usual suspects, and I am sure there are some troglodytes somewhere already working on it.

Guido man all very good Venice etc but should not a political buff like yourself head to Scotland where the action is.

The SNP are getting vertigo and it is getting more intense on a daily basis as their poll rating increases.

Head north man you might get honorary SNP membership. Who knows they might even make you their first peer:-)
...no cash required either

Damn! I guess You-Knw-Who won't do it for me I'm going to have to start my own anti-blog.

Maybe there's a business opportunity here:

"Is your blog lacking in stature? Does it feel like entering an abandoned church every time you go there? Come to Anti-blogs R Us and we'll instantly boost your blogger credibility with one of our custom made Anti-blogs (trademark applied for).

"Anti-blogs R Us guarantee that no underpaid Indian software developers will be harmed during the making of your anti-blog (trademark applied for)"

Ah sod it! It's the weekend. I'm off to spend my extremely large bonus on things that are bad for me in every way possible.

I used to have one, but I had him shut down. Now I see that was a mistake...

Should we now expect all the weirdo whinging lefties to stop posting on here and Iain's, and start posting in their own space? Or will they just copy and paste from one to the other...?

Guido, you could add to your list of achievements your liberal - or is it libertarian - attitude to the English language: "You-know-who then crys..." Crys... short for Crystal? The first name of a rapper formerly known as Chris? A mis-spelling of Currys? We have a Right To Know...

You're spot on with everything here except the idea that you post news and facts. You don't. But you're none the worse for that.

So does this mean you *are* or *are not* significant? I can never remember which line the anti-blog/car crash/single issue blogs have as their party line.

Is one allowed to set up his own anti-blog or is that a kind of inverted sock-puppetry?

NLA 11:41 re U Know Who bullying etc. Our Timmy had a bad time at school. His disability was not enough IQ to be top of the class and the social skills of a whelk. Result : bullied by pupils and disliked by teachers. Hence his inherent bitterness and lack of humour. He has removed his personal profile from the website.

These Socialists, they just don't know how to misbehave with venom!

I want to see the Tory Party destroyed, its memebership run through a people shredder and the whole history of politics re-written without them in it.

Nothing wrong with that, I might add.

Funny thing is, I don't have to lift a finger or hurl an insult in furthering this agenda.

The Toryboys and Boris do it on a daily basis and I don't want to be left out when THE KILL comes.

Simple truth is that all the time the left have the MSM in their pocket and the BBC in ours, their political internet 'business' will NEVER get an audience worth note.

This would still be the case even if we had a Conservative government, because libertarians dont like or trust any government or political system.

However socialism, is to a libertarian the complete opposite of their entire understanding of how freedom and prosperity is gained and maintained for ordinary people. Socialism is an ideology primed and motivated to the destruction of the human spirit, forever.

Which must be opposed by free thinking people at every stage of its evolution for the good, not just of the individual, but for the whole of mankind.

That includes any socialists still in the Conservative party.

"I want to see the Tory Party destroyed, its memebership run through a people shredder and the whole history of politics re-written without them in it."

Ah, but without those Tories you and your fellow lefties would have nobody to sponge off of! Somehow I get the feeling successful Tory-voting businessmen have contributed more to national life than unemployed Labour voters.

Gary Elsby stoke said...

How could I possibly forget.

It goes without saying, really.

'Tory successful businessmen.'

What a cunt statement that was.

I have no need to correct that in a modern socialist society we enjoy today.

Gary

no longer anonymous said...

"What a cunt statement that was."

The majority of businessmen vote Tory. As do most of the rest of the wealthy and successful. It is they who provide most of the funding for the welfare state you sponge off of.

"I have no need to correct that in a modern socialist society we enjoy today."

Where are the high taxes on the rich? The strengthening of the unions? The nationalisation of heavy industry? This country may not be as capitalist as I would like but it's a long shot to call it socialist.

Does Peter Hitchens' column count as an anti-THE Hitch blog, once it gets posted? I would hope so.

Seriously, though, starting up an anti-Iain Dale blog is like chaining yourself to a tree to protest the unavailability of peppermint jellybeans. I can only conclude that someone has too much time on his hands and free access to the ward's computer.

Peter Hitchens is a fan of the "The Hitch" as long as that "Hitch" is me rather than his brother who is a pale imitation of me.
Christopher Hitchens is an obscure English expat , resident in the Americas who trades upon the reputations of both myself and his far more talented brother Peter.
I hope that clears things up for you.

Actually Guido has a lot in common with the red-tops in style and content.
