Million Petitioners : All Ignored
The Downing Street website has had a million petition signatures since November boasted the PMOS this afternoon. The site is now almost as popular as this blog...
The PMOS went on to say that even when hundreds of thousands of people signed up
The PMOS went on to say that even when hundreds of thousands of people signed up
"it did not automatically guarantee was a change in policy, as sometimes, there were issues such as road pricing where people had strong views, but strong views did not necessarily equal a solution to congestion."
Not one single petition has been acted upon so far, Guid thinks you are wasting your time people. Downing Street is boasting it has ignored the views of a million people.

Guido is smarter than the average astroturfer - never get within touching distance of these NuLab bastards - lying and corruption is contagious - just look what's happened to the beeb.
Hello Anonymong 4.34. I think you'll find that the spelling is "legitimate". Also capital letters in the middle of words really isn't the ticket. You're obviously yet another defective product of this government's education policy.

You're dead right there bt. But I thought you worked for the "beeb"?

Anony-mouse,
If the vetting procedure demands bovine submission to non-entities like you, he's not gonna pass is he?
Did the PMOS tell us what the f*cking point of the petition website is then?

It's to remind you all that your really all serfs.
"Downing Street is boasting it has ignored the views of a million people."
Yes but please don't tell me you are surprised. Anyone who routinely chants that 22% represents a democratic mandate is clearly as deluded, dishonest and downright disgraceful as that worthless sack of shit anonymong at 4.34.
Where is Peter Hitchens when you need him?
If memory serves, the last million people to be ignored were marching against an upcoming war...
Actually the PMOS statement is consistent with Nu-lab policy. As ian Hislop (I think) on HIGNFY observed, Nu-lab does consult the people, its just that the people are wrong.
So much for representative govt then.

My sincere apologies!
Since when did New Labour take notice of anyone apart from US neo-cons, the Muslim Council of Britain, Indian millionaires, the American gambling mafia, Wal-Mart, Tesco, and the Jewish lobby?
Pay attention to what the indigenous people of Britain want!!?
You've gotta be joking!
Guido, as the old anarchist maxim goes,
If voting changed anything, they'd abolish it..
Bet the slimy c*nts will remember us when the election comes....
Fat chance
NuLab
you have fucked the army
fucked the NHS
fucked education
fucked the million anti war protesters
fucked the Muslim vote with Iraq
fucked the Catholic vote
fucked the army
but for sure you can rely on the Gay Pride vote!
Is there any chance that, out of all of this stuff on the site, something can be used to persuade the joint opposition parties to table a vote of no confidence? Any issue will do.
What are the conditions and procedures for tabling such a motion? There are enough opposing MPs in the HoC to do this. To all opposition MPs reading this - please respond, as "Anonymous" if you must.
Anything to rid us of this ramshackle joke of an over-taxing, over-spending, mega-wasting, uber-surveilling, mega-legislating, over-controlling Stalinist regime gets my support.
Cameron, Menzies et al: extract digits please.
This is the personal view of a UK tax-payer (fully paid up) who contributes funds towards running Parliament.
I believe that I am getting no value whatsoever from any opposition party, especially Sinn Fein, and am being shafted by the current Government.
Guido: Sorry for posting a rant, but please do not moderate it = delete.
I believe that there are many, like me, who read the blog with interest, and have the same feelings, but maybe have not posted before.
The massive pro-foxhunting marches / petitions etc haven't got anywhere either.
Not to start a dull foxhunting debate, just giving yet another example of this lot ignoring vast swathes of the populous.

Quite all right - though if confusion continues I may have to change my intial by deed poll.
But wait, the half is not yet told - newsflash - Beeb journalists are voting on strike action.
a) will anyone notice?
b) the producers will have to read out their fantasies themselves - cuts out the middleman, I suppose.
For example, the one asking Blair to resign?
"The PM has made clear that he will be leaving office before the next Labour party conference"
Source: http://www.pm.gov.uk/output/Page10809.asp
Might has well have written "f*** you".
Thank god for Yates!
So Blair is telling 1 million people to Fuck Off. That's 2% of the 50 million telling him to do likewise.
uk-events said Might has well have written "f*** you".
Every day those idiots Prescott, Jowell and Hewitt and their ilk continue in office is a two-fingered salute to the taxpayers of Britain. I am sure Blair keeps these people on as a mark of his deep contempt for the British electorate. Our own fault I know, for not recognising our debt to this very great man, and the wonderful things he has done for Britain.
Quite telling that the first post replying to Downing Street's latest despicableness is an illiterate astro-turfing New Labour sock-puppet attempting to make light of the fact, isn't it? Probably one who is employed to sit reading this blog all day in order to spam it.
Myself, I tend to the view that Guido's loud waistcoats prevent him from being present at the Lobby, in case it's televised and viewers of an epileptic disposition are watching. That or the Phantom-type facial scars frightening the piss out of the pass-issuers.
Of course, of those 1m, 614,000 signed the anti-road pricing petition.
If they want to ask my views on a solution to congestion, I'm very happy to provide.
I fear, however, that these would not be listened to either.

Your Government are from the top down a bunch of total cunts, and are seen by everyone, even theoir own fucking party members and supporters, and MP's, as such, and Guido is liked and respected...

" The Watergate charge is being made against the Prime Minister tonight" - Sky News at 18.21
...the Fat Lady is warming-up in the wings. 'Pole' next then Blair.
'suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice' not suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
The all important conspiracy element lowers the burden of proof required, and implies at least 1 further arrest.
>The all important conspiracy element lowers the burden of proof required, and implies at least 1 further arrest.
In the sense that to conspire one needs a co-conspirator?
Ruth Turner wasn't arrested for "conspiracy"
Therefore their must be at least one more?
Just checking to understand I follow your thought process.
Assuming this is correct, interesting indeed!
Hello Ivan Dobski,
Also capital letters in the middle of words really isn't the ticket.
Let us just parse that sentence and check if it actually makes some grammatical sense... oops! It doesn't!
First rule of typo pouncing: make sure your pounce isn't pouncable.
You're obviously yet another defective product of this government's education policy.
To anyone with even half an Etonian education it will be clear why you chose "yet another"...
Road usage could be rationed as opposed to being used as an excuse for that greedy bastard Buggins Brown to extract even more taxes...
I'm sensing some rattled New Labourites here. It's good to know that these interfering busybodies are unhappy.
Guido, Not one single petition has been acted upon so far, Guid thinks you are wasting your time people.
It can be useful in other ways. In another incarnation, I am the originator of the NOsupercasino petition. This petition (there was/is also a paper version) has (a) flushed out another letter of support (for the Greenwich supercasino bid) that was faked by the Council/AEG; and (b) confirmed that there was significant opposition to and unhappiness about Greenwich Council's bid. You would not believe the lengths to which AEG/the Council went to silence the voice of opposition in this Borough. Happily, it has done them no good at all.
The on-line petition has been very effective, in ways that I could not have imagined it would be.
indigo - I think you are right about 'online petitions'. I used to be very dismissive of all petitions, thinking they were easy to ignore, in a way that, say, letter writing campaigns were not.
But we managed to put the kybosh on an ill thought out plan to concrete over a park in central bristol with shops, flats and offices, on the back of a 5,000 signature petition, so they can help in generating awareness, if nothing else.
"First rule of typo pouncing: make sure your pounce isn't pouncable."
The word is "pounceable", Sir.
Levy could always join Gordon's army of incapacity benefit fraudsters.
Like them, incapable of telling the truth.
And as for the 'petitions' - 5 years ago the pseudo-democratic NuLab cant phrase was 'The minister announced that she (usually she) wanted a free and wide-ranging public debate on...'
Now they just want web-dustbins to make people think they've had some effect, and make them forget about it and go away.
They have at least promised to do something about copyright.
That was announced in the PBR by Gordon Brown.
Coincidentally EMI paid £29,375 to the New Statesman for a Smith Institute supplement on "Copyright Reform" a few months before.
Nothing to do with petitions, much more to do with "payments for policy".
See Cash for Policy
No surprises in that attitude from No10, they prefer focus groups and listening to their own seductive voices. Oh dear me, the idea and prospect of actually having to listen and action the will of the people is anathema to these thugs.
A pox and plague on em, let us reserve an appropiate lamp-post for these tossers.
Seems then that No10 petitions are like the circus entertainment (there being no bread) element.
But the shower-of-shit show goes on...
Like a reality gameshow really isn't it, we just have to wait before we can vote anyone out.
Dr. Johnson,
you have fallen into my diliberate trap.
Will someone equally gullible fall into this one?
LOL
Of coure No 10 isn't listening - it's just collecting the details of everyone who disagrees with Nu-Labour to add to it's FATWCTR list (First Against The Wall Come The Revolution). Well Gordy has spoken of his dream of a New World Order, just hasn't mentioned that anyone who doesn't vote Labour isn't in it.
