Brillo! Brillo! Brillo!

"The Thick Of It" special had a junior minister who went on TV only to be reduced to a blinking quivering mess by the fictional forceful line of questioning. If only instead of being so craven they were like that in reality, Guido thought to himself.

Yesterday Ed Ball's made fantasy reality. His blink rate per minute went hyper when Andrew Neil asked him about inflation. Why is it lower everywhere else in the Western industrialised world? Ball's smile turned into a stutter, the blink rate doubled, the smile thinned under further pressure. Blinking desperately, Balls is reduced to stroking Neil's ego. No excuses left, even Paddy Ashdown manages to put the boot in with a "Blair won't go until the economy goes bad" crack.

See GuyNews.TV for the extract.

What can you expect with a wanker called Balls?

For a similar stuttering apologetic attempt at an explanation see Kaletsky's article in the times today.

Telling us it isn't really as bad as it seems and that it will get better and don't worry people because for the past ten years inflation has only hit the hard working economically productive people... oh and remember the 1990's when interest rates were high.

Give it a rest Anatole! Tell me how the UK compares today with the 1990's in terms of global competitiveness.

Fab pic of Balls, Guido. He has always seemed to me to be a particular kind of clever fool. Brown is drawn to the type.

Anonymous said...

The theory of democracy is that people of standing and achievement are elected by their community to represent them in parliament. Balls has no standing or achievement. He is a 100% Brown-made man. He brings no political support to the table because he has no supporters except his own boss. This is how governments eventually curl up and die.

Marvellous link

If only he could have continued the line of questioning..........

if only..

but a lovely comment to put the boot in by Paddy Ashdown

Why don't we see more of Brillo. He's easily the best political interviewer.
Reduced that twat Balls down to size.

Trumpeter Lanfried said...

The question posed by Brillo, viz. "Why is inflation running higher here than any other country in the EU (including Italy, for God's sake)?remains unanswered by any member of this government.

Has Brillo ever interviewed Gordon Brown or Tony Blair? He would eat them for breakfast.

Anonymous said...

Balls only talent is to suck up to his master Brown and obey him totally. He is the type beloved of control-freaks and tyrants everywhere.

As for Brown it's clear his trip to India is turning into a disaster. He fled there to escape flak over the runaway inflation figures but also planned to try tapping up rich Indian businessmen into financially supporting Labour.

Sadly for Gordo the only thing the Indians want to talk to him about is why a gang of British pondslime are being allowed to abuse their favourite actress.

Where are you going to run to next Gordon?

AnyoneButBlair said...

Trumpeter L: If Balls had the balls he'd have answered the question with Unfortunately the large increase in government spending beyond the rate of growth in the underlying economy has stoked service inflation and the global increase in fuel, energy and lubricant costs has been unfortunately exacerbated by the increase in fuel duties the Government introduced in the pre-budget report. Sadly it looks like we've fu*ked it up

New Labour's shallow, "celebrity-obsessed", live for today, borrow-to-spend, drink-sodden society has produced the three Big Brother chav slappers Jade, Danielle, and Jo.

You can see loud-mouthed pissed-up mingers just like them on the streets of every town and city most nights of the week.

Now we've got them presented as "celebrities" performing their moronic bullying behaviour for our "entertainment" on the telly every night.

But try standing up to these lowlifes and *you're* the bully. What a fucked-up country this has become.

Ed Balls has the additional baggage of losing his seat (titter ye not), and is desparate to remain an MP rather than being consigned to the dustbin.
As for the stats, Brillo should be asking if we can trust the figures being bandied about, the ONS has history of massaging and fudging and we all know that NuLab is capable of anything in its remorseless and ruthless desire to remain in power.

Balls was probably sent on to the programme to remind viewers that the Chancellor was in India. To promote trade er... and make arrangements to export a few thousand more jobs. The lobby must be relieved that the CBB row has given them something to write about in India - without this they would have had no story to justify their expenses.
