Konrad is Not Speaking to Guido...

... and no-one else at the Smith Institute is answering questions, so Guido will just pass this one straight to the Charity Commissioners for their investigation into if the Smith Institute has crossed over into "politics".
Konrad:
What has Gordon's little helper got to hide?
Konrad:
- During the 2005 election campaign when you went up to the Normanton constituency to help Ed Balls' election campaign, were you still being paid by the Smith Institute?
- Was it in your capacity as "events coordinator" for the Smith Institute that you blew up balloons for Balls?
- Who does actually pay your salary? The salary sums don't add up.
What has Gordon's little helper got to hide?

Yes, but in a top-down over-centralised organisation, would the office boy know the answer to any of these questions anyway?
Guido how will you ever cope without Konrad to talk to?
LOL! Konrad's a fecking nonce!
Guido, drop this. There's nothing sinister about the Smith Insitute, it's a political institute and who cares if some of its people are linked to Gordon Brown or Ed Bells? This won't the first time a think tank or lobbying firm has laundered money for a politician and it won't be the last.

So makes it all right, does it?
You are saying two wrongs make a right.
That is classic NL reasoning: if the Tories did something in the bad old days, we can't be nearly as bad!
Except Blair told us they were going to be "whiter than white", and that he aimed to "restore trust in politics and politicians". He's done well on that one!

"its a political institute..."
Spot on there. Thats the beef. Defrauding the taxpayer by masquerading(sic)as a charity. Its serious and a breach of CHarities' Act. Why drop and become an accessory after the fact?
Can someone get hold of an item of Brown's clothing? We could train a pig to associate his (pungent?) smell with food.Stencil 'Mohammed' on the animal and let it lose at public events that our boy is attending.Got to be worth a try?
What about the Joseph Rowntree mob giving dosh to the Lib dems? If that's not a charity laundering money for a political party, my name's Andrew Neil.

If you scroll back (not that far) you will see that Guido raises the dubious nature of the Rowntree organisation as well.
anon 6;14"Guido, drop this. There's nothing sinister about the Smith Insitute"
That sounds like a threat! Maybe it's a sith mind trick? This isn't the institute you're looking for....
"Guido, drop this."
ho ho!
this could be a big one Mr Fawkes. Stick at it.
Yes,better to drop it all round?Maybe he'll sue-ey.
I can't believe that Gordy's endorsing this so-called charity, and surely Konrad must now expect a lengthy intrusion in the form of the Scottish rector's probe
Most union offices are empty during General Election campaigns so I'm very surprised Konard got a blow job.
"Guido, drop this. "
WTF?
"Guido, drop this. There's nothing sinister about the Smith Insitute, it's a political institute and who cares if some of its people are linked to Gordon Brown or Ed Bells?"
That's right Guido, let's get back to the important issues, like threatening public schools for abusing their charitable status. Oh hang on...
I have the distinct impression you are on to something here Old chap dig on I `m fascinated
Anon 6:14 appears to be using language one might more readily associate with B movie gangsters than the errudite discourse usually found here.
Is he attempting a very amateurish threat do we think?
Perhaps a quick trawl through his interweb stats may reveal to Mr Fawkes the identity or location of this anonymong.
As to his assertion that just because other mountebanks have, in the past, abused the Charities Act (and the public's money) the current bunch of blackguards should get carte blanche to do the same. All I can say is that Mr Noname-Brand must a bit of a dunce.
For if we were to follow his line of thinking, Mr Blair's "apology" for the slave trade would not only be pointless, it would be self defeating.
By his logic, the simple fact that buying and selling human beings used to be quite common would make it perfectly acceptable today.
So are the Charity Commissioners going to do any thing or are they another yango threatened with Browns clunking fist...ps, how does he wank with a clunking fist?
Guido, Could you run a little piece such as an idiots guide to Smith Institute backhaders please? I've got a bit confused by it all. Ta very much
"how does he wank with a clunking fist?"
He gets an intern to do it for him?
How much did Philip Green bung Blair?
Gutless Charity Commissars will do nothing, they are public appointments in the grace of the government.
Get Yates to look into the matter with his cash/loans for peerages enquiry.
just for the record (as i think was covered the last time it was discussed here) the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust is not a charity - it is a ltd business expressly because it gives money to political causes -largely the lib dems.
The Jospeh Rowntree Foundation (the one that produces the research reports on poverty etc) is a charity but is also a completely different organisation that has nothing to do with the above (beyond the obvious that the same person set them up) and does not get up to anything faintly party political.
the Smith Institute is not particularly atypical - Policy Exchange (as mentioned in a more favourable light in the blog today) is a registered chairty whose objects are to "ARE: 3.1 THE NON-PARTISAN ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE ECONOMIC SOCIAL AND POLITICAL SCIENCES" - as Guido's photos highlight they're far from non-partisan and i'm sure they're quite partial to using the odd commons or lords room for their events (which is fine if they pay for it, as i would hope the Smith Institute does with No. 11).

While dressed in nappies and riding a rocking horse?
The Smith Institute is breaking the law - plain and simple. If Policy Exchange were doing so as well it wouldn't excuse the Sith. Policy Exchange works with LibDems and even Labour supporters. The Smith Institute is not just partisan, it is factionally Brownite.
Policy Exchange doesn't use Downing Street as a fund raising tool though does it?
It is striking that New Labour types don't deny law breaking in this or Loans for Lordships, they just say the Tories do it as well.
That is not a defence, it is a confession.
Might it be helpful to inform Teresa Villiers of this, given her ongoing requests to the Information Commissioner to investigate the Sith for charity irregularities?
