Labour Disowns Sion

Tom Watson and Sion Simon were two of the geniuses behind the failed coup attempt against Blair before Labour party conference. Which resulted in Tom Watson wandering forlornly outside the GMEX centre pretending to talk into his mobile phone. It appears that Tom Watson filmed the Sion Show and uploaded it for him. Tom Watson's blog seems to be down, but Guido is sure he read a defence of Sion on it before it crashed.

Labour MP Stephen Pound told the BBC that Sion's video was "a new low in British politics". Jack Straw, the Leader of the Commons, bitch-slapped Sion thus: "We have to ensure that political discourse is at a reasonable high level that avoids personal attacks."

The line that gives most offense is "Want to sleep with my wife? That's cool. Come down, check it out, we'll sort it out. Safe. I've got two kids, kid one, kid two. You like them? Take one; that's cool."

If you want to see the Sky News interview meltdown of Sion it is up over on
GuyNews.TV (courtesy of Biased BBC).

UPDATE : To be fair, Tom Watson has done a video blog attacking Cameron which advocates campaign finance reform. It has humour, a real message and some star quality. See it here. Obviously he has much more time on his hands nowadays...

Does Steven Pound get paid for all these opinions he provides?
He's on the news more often than Huw Edwards, the bullet headed gobby twat.

Well, he should know!

By the way, someone should tell him that talking on his mobile phone handset while driving is illegal.

Perhaps Sion shot himself in both feet. Maybe he hadn't realised that Dave's WebCameron thing was itself a satire on the caring, sharing T. Blair. So, by satirising Dave's satire of Tone, he's really pointing (or giving) the finger at (or to) poor old Tone.

Maybe that was his Machianvellian intention?

Goodness, Politics are tricky. I'm off for a lie down.

Pound was described in the Daily Express (don't ask) as "a renowned Common's jester"

well, I suppose if you're PPS to Bleurghs then you'd need a bloody good sense of humour...

Tut. Surely, Guido, you could mention that Jack Straw made his comments without seeing the video? Perhaps also comment on the richness of his attacking personal attacks (See: Dave the Chameleon)?

Still, well done for bigging up this desperate and cynical whoring of webcameron (twice now).

Sion in new labour is no surprise. What I want to know is why he was employed by the Telegraph. Sad decline of 2 once great institutions.

I love Sion's "My friend Tom Watson is committed to the medium"... It's unfortunate that Tom's commitment is undermined by technical failures the only times you'd actually want to visit or post on his site. Two way street, Tom, two-way street.

Watson has now issued an unreserved apology to David Cameron.

We all note he apologies to Tory leaders and not Labour leaders

Amusing to see some people like to get in a froth demanding freedom of speech for those who want to take the piss out of Muslims, but don't want that right for those people taking the piss out of Cameron.

It's a three second joke that is less offensive than half the stuff Guido writes. Admitedly it is less funny than half the stuff Guido writes, but that is beside the point....

Labour 'disowns' Sion Simon?

More like, Labour seriously wonders how this infantile fuckwit ever got through the front door.

Watson's post of 12 October backed Simon and ended with the line "watch out Rory Bremner" IIRC. He must be wanting to take ove his New Statesman column.

It's not so much he set up a webcam making fun of Cameron, but that it was so damn crap....

Has Tom Watson been eating more pies than is sensible for a man of his years?

Doesn't David Cameron actually have 3 children ?

A quote from the loveable Mr Simon - taken from his review of Jeremy Paxman's book..

"Paxman's medium is television. This does not mean that he can write. And by the standards against which I'm sure he would want to be judged, he can't. Not that his prose is unreadable; it's just not very good. Quoting bad writing is cruel. But, hey, Paxo's a journalist who can't write; I'm a politician who can."

I'm very much looking forward to Mr Paxman's review of Mr Simon's TV work. Actually, it's pretty much the same self-important, pomopous shite that he writes in the review. Do you think he was bullied at school ?

by many accounts Watson wasn't badly received at the conference. Infact some delegates even offered him to buy drinks for him.

We're not calling for it to be banned, we just think it's lame.

no, it is the point, Good satire is always welcome, of anything (and yes, that should include Islam) and the Tories, and anything else, buth this is hand-bitingly bad. No-one's saying he shouldn;t be allowed to say it. We're saying he's an unfunny c*nt. There's a difference

Amen. We're not calling for his head, we're begging him to STFU.

Please indicate to us who on this site thinks its alright to take the "piss out" of Muslims as you put it. As you may or may not know this is now against the law and could result in a prison sentence.

While doing so please give any examples of anyone anywhere in the WHOLE WORLD that thinks Simons does not have a perfect right to make a compleat wanker of HIMSELF if he so wishes.

After all you are and no one has told you to shut up yet. However I suggest you dont start blowing things up or attempt to start a world war or the police MAY have something to say to you.

Such is the right to freedom of speech in this once great country. Keep voting socialist and it can and very likely will get far far worse.

Strikes me that people like Sion Simon and his ilk are the new LINO's - or Labour In Name Only. Of course in the 80's boom we used to refer to Lloyd's brokers as LINOs, as in Low Income, No 'Ope.

I still get the feeling that this miserable creature's real name is actually Simon Simon, and he took out the first 'm' to appear more trendy than his humble origins would indicate. Supposedly next we'll see Bois Johnson or Gudo Fawkes I presume ...

mutleythedog said...

I don't think there could really be anyone called Simon Simon - imagine Mr and Mrs Simon sitting down and saying "I know lets call our son Simon!!" Not likely is it? His real first name is "SHIT FOR BRAINS!" which he shortens to Sion.
