Lib Dem's Lord Rennard Complains to Guido

Somebody claiming to be Lib Dem Chief Exec. Chris Rennard has contacted Guido about the last post to complain about the coverage of the Lib Dems and Ming - don't know why he didn't just contact the Blog Complaints Commission.
"Most of these claims about polls etc. are wrong or ridiculous... In relation to the Liberal Democrats, it should be noted that three months after Paddy Ashdown became Leader the average Lib Dem poll rating was 8%. Three months after Charles Kennedy became Leader the average Lib Dem poll rating was 14%. Three months after Ming Campbell became Leader, the average Lib Dem poll rating is 20%."
Except it isn't. Ming's Lib Dems are polling a little less than 20% on average (16% was the latest figure). Only 8% of YouGov's sample would like to see him in Downing Street. According to Anthony King that is the lowest recorded for any Lib Dem leader since the Liberal Democrats came into existence in 1990. (Source The Guardian.)

Some Labour comment makers refused to accept that the Tories are ahead on issues, but according to ICM the Tories now lead Labour by 2% as the party with the best policy on the NHS. That compares with a 14% Labour lead at the general election.

On education, Labour now lags behind the Conservatives by 2% versus a 10% Labour lead at the general election. As you'd expect the Tories lead on law and order and asylum and immigration in the wake of problems at the Home Office.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that the Lib Dems actually take you seriously Guido?

Serves you right for running such a bog boring blog. Thought were about scandal, mischief making and unubstantiated salacious gossip - or at least that's what you tell idiot mongs who bore on about boring polls and even more boring policy. Who gives a toss if Cameron is smiling, they should all be snivelling. I'm dissapointed in you Guido, you're turning gold into shit.

And why are all the pictures so crap now, get a flaming grip...

What a complete tool Rennard has made of himself.

Guido,

For God's sake, come back to England, old bean.

You're clearly distracted by things frankish, and this blog has got markedly boring, with utterly tedious and uninteresting posts entering the public domain.

You clearly have divided loyalties, and need to develop your feminine side in order that you may do two or three things simultaneously.

If you don't return soon and focus, I'm going to persuade a Mr Al-Amin (on my blog) to migrate to you. He irritates the hell out of all of us.

Top marks to the fox though; I mean advertising previously dreadful poll ratings for other wash-out lib dem leaders was the first thing I thought of doing too.

Given that he actually uses the NHS, it is fairly probable that he is not intending to abolish it.

Or flog it to Craptia in a non-free market stitch up (AKA PFI).

Hence many people think that a government headed by Cameron will do less damage than the current pile of shite.

...the fact that we don't know (yet) what Dave's policies are is a mark of his political genius...he can paint himself and his party as good and competent and just let Labour fall apart...heheh...I vote that Chris Rennard comments get a rating of 20 millioatens (see my previous post under "Blog Comments for Newbies" ...heh heh heh!)

I thought the Lib Dems came into existence in 1988.

While it's true that Ming's Lib Dem leadership rating may be historically low, his party's rating isn't.

Really anonymous ? It is pretty obvious that The Treasury aims to unload the costs side of the NHS and retain the revenue streams and that Labour privatisaion is simply a continuation of policies initiated under John Major.

Currently 15% PCT budgets MUST be spent on private health care, no doubt the Conservatives will just accelerate matters. The public has not a clue about how far privatisation has already gone and what is in the pipeline. I doubt there will be much difference whichever party is in power

Good to see that Lord Rennard has the same vague relationship to the truth and lives in the same dreamworld as my local LibDems. At least they are consistent from top to bottom, unlike Labour, even if that consistency appears to be founded upon believing anything that they fancy and expecting the rest of us to do so too.

from pb.c (shush - don't tell anyone I read it):

Last night’s by-elections continue the bad news for Labour:-
Caradon DC - Saltash Pill: Lib Dem 474, Ind 334, C 280. Lib Dem gain from Ind.
North Kesteven DC - Branston and Mere: C 570, Ind 440, Lab 150. Con gain from Lab.
Tynedale DC - Wylam: Lib Dem 364, C 247, Lab 206. Lib Dem hold.

Actually, I think Chris 'Foxy' Rennard may have a point.

where now, UKIP? said...

Guido if you are taking the polls seriously between a General Election then you are very foolish. And even if they were a measure of success, why would Dave being PM be a good thing? None of the people he favour seem to love anything that is truly conservative. He has lost my vote for good and many other former Tory voters I expect.

I can't think of anything more damaging to the UK than MRSA'R'US (the NHS).

The UKs treatment rationing beurocrazy has a higher level of service for those with commisar status (bliars heart murmor), it encourages the immigration of people who want the UK taxpayer to pay for their treatment (> 50% of AIDS is imported), the NHS "premium" is in no way related to a healthy lifestyle thus encouraging ill-health, it's state run on a stalinist model, and therefore crap.

People would be wise to vote for any party advocating getting rid of state run, extortion funded, treatment rationing, before it kills them.

Chris Rennard must be sweating buckets - The Lib dems are afraid of the power of your blog.

Noticed Ming has done anything about Pete Dollimore the London Region Campaigns chair and his famous e-mail.

Guido, you should ask old Foxy of he could provide you with the research for his post-leadership election polling.

It won't be the first time they've used some dodgy stats in the hope that no-one would be bothered to ask for the background evidence.

Anonymous - you can always look up the figures yourself (we're talking public opinion polls here).

By assuming that a Lib Dem must have made up the figures is so much easier to do of course ... and if you do look them up you risk finding out they are true!!

Chris Rennard is a jumped-up pompous arse. I've worked with him before.

chris rennard is fat bastard!!!

Maybe if he spent more time vetting huge donations to his pointless bunxh of idone scat miesters they would avoid near bankruptcy.

On the old liam fox front - If you have ever seen the film "the dead Zone" - I think Liam fox looks like Greg Stiltson - (Played by Martin Sheen) - Has the same sort of views as well!!! He launches a nuclear attack on his enemies i can only presumbe the russian at that time.

Liam Fox is dangerous - bastard but not fat like chris rennard!!!
