Sainsburys "Forgets" £2 Million Loan

You know how it is, you give your money over and the Sainsbury's girl on the till "forgets" to give you your change. Lord Sainsbury "lent" an extra £2 million quid to Labour that he forgot to mention to anyone. Is he planning to buy the Labour party outright? How many millions has he "lent"? Can they afford to ever sack him and risk him calling in the loans?

Hardline Tories will want to switch to Waitrose (backs Co-operative Party) or Tesco (backs LibDems), buy organic from your local Tory huntin' 'n shootin' farmer and boycott the GM loving, Blair backing, Lord Sainsbury.

£6.5m in donations and £2m in loans, unless he is suffering from more memory loss.

And you wonder why Gordon's budget made such a lot about investment in science.

Not the same one. Two-for-one offer on Lord Sainsburys to politicians.

If you are born to wealth and allowed to preserve it in The Cayman Islands a la Duncan Sandys and Lonrho) then it is only right to tip the man that made it all possible

Since when have Tesco, Dame Shirley Porter's family business after all, given money to the LibDems then? More info please before I change my shopping habits (again).

David Sainsbury (before he was enobled) financed the SDP.

I guess it all depends on your perspective. £2 million quid is just a "little bill" to Lord Sainsbury. Perhaps he noticed it was missing but assumed he had dropped it down the back of the sofa or left it in his old trousers when he sent tthem to Oxfam.

Well he's not paying for a just a peerage you see - he's paying for being a minister.

Hardline Tories shop at Morrisons.

'Enoble' is a curious term to use in relation to a mediocre little squirt like David Sainsbury, who has not only bought his way into the Lords (with his massive inheritance) but into government, too.

Not sure about Tesco supporting LibDems - there is never a Tesco stall at Annual Conference as there is from many other corporate supporters, and our local members here are much more likely to patronise the Co-Op or Waitrose (both strongly promote ethical produce such as Fair Trade).

Ironically, back in the 1980s Blair was critical of Sainsbury's bank-rolling of the SDP.

Sensible people shop at Morrisons - the Grocer rates it as having the best stock-levels and Tesco the worst. Morrisons is superb in contrast to Tesco and one of the best supermarkets from the standpoint of a customer - Tesco is just tedious and over-priced

If tesco gets any bigger Gordon could just start issuing benefits in Clubcard vouchers.

(Who do you think is supposed to buy the "value" stuff?...)

Thought they did.......each time I visit the store they ask me if I am collecting "vouchers for schools".........I respond that I pay taxes to fund them

I can vouch for the deliciousness of Morrison's onw-label Islay Malt - an absolute steal.

So, as a politically active Conservative who doesn't wish for a penny of my money to support the other leftie parties, where can and can't I shop and what famous brands should I or should I not buy? Apart from anything French obviously, I'm still boycotting from nuclear testing days!

You could always go to Asda and give Walmart your hard-earned readies (just like Blair and Bush really)
