Newsnight's Crick is Still After Cameron
Even after last week's aggressive doorstepping of Cameron, Michael Crick is still chasing after him about cash for Conservatives. Scotland Yard is publicly confirming that the investigation will, if necessary, be multi-party, after telling the Standard yesterday it was Labour only.
Guido hears that Cameron is genuinely keen to get the names out and move on. Just like Tony Blair...

Yes, but are the Met police co-ordinating with the various regional Crime Squad offices. Labour, Conservative and Libdem associations all receive money and loans independent to the main party apparatus.
'Franchised Laundry'
Hey Guido,
Has Bob Spink actually been deselected?
My source tells me that Michael Crick's daughter is an avowed socialist - does she get any of it from Daddy?
I refer Guido's honourable readership to a comment I made a day or two ago.
'I wish DC would just give Michael Crick a good slap on the nose and tell him to fuck off.'
Whilst he would be charged with assault(more likely some race hate/thought crime),there would be a certain comedic value in him following my advice.
Not very inclusive-or indeed compassionate- I know but hey,his popularity would soar
Poor Michael Crick - whatever happened to him ? How do you turn youeself into a muckraking journalistt ?
I don't mind Michael Crick makng a fool of himself and the investigative reporting tradition but why is it only the tories he goes after? The worst the tories have done is bump a few generous donors into the House of Lords, an unsavoury but long standing practice of all the parties. But this is not the secret and corrupt soliciting of funds in return for placement and preferment that it appears Lord Levy was running out of Downing Street
Why is he not doorstepping Ruth Turner and Jonathan Powell about their role. Why isn't he after Geoff Hoon over expenses or Ruth Kelly or John Prescott. The least Newsnight could do is attempt a semblance of balance.
Crick ceased to be a man to be feared after the general election when he did his comic turn in the Newsnight helicopter. How can we take seriously a short-arse, four-eyed, hush-puppied little twat like him. He's not Superman. He's not even Clarke Kent. (He's too small and he looks like an accounts clerk). Cameron should piss on him from a great height.
And his name rhymes with prick!snigger! Michael Prick! see what I did?

Remember Crick's rather pathetic hatchet job on Huhne?
Oooh. Bitchy. Seems like Cricky might be trading on a few toes.
Tories hate Crick because he finds endless ammusement in showing the viewing public how self interested they are....
thats why i like him as well!
Oh Crick is an amusement...I think Cameron didn't handle him very well. Andrew Neil seems to make Cameron go wobbly a bit as well.
What about this scenario...
Police investigation gets REALLY bad for both parties. Blair resigns. Cameron is then either left as the corrupt leader who won't resign (Labour: "Our leader did the honorable thing and resigned, why do the Tories stick with theirs"), losing forever his 'clean', 'fresh' image and with it, any chance of him reforming the Tories' image OR has to resign himself, setting the Tory Modernisers back for another generation.
john miles, just remind me what David Cameron has done that could label him as "corrupt" and require his resignation.
I'm just saying that if the police investigation turns up bad results for both parties, then Cameron could be PERCEIVED to be corrupt, even if he had nothing to do with it.
It wouldn't be the first time that the public decided a politician was corrupt when a closer examination of the facts show no such thing. (Mandelson?)
Mandelson?
??????????????????
Mandelson?
????????
Yes, Mandelson.
Nowhere near as bad as the public were led to believe. Attacked from the Tories because he is a political genius and from the left of the Labour party because he had the balls to bitch-slap them around the mid 80s onward.
John
